Chapter 572 - 556: The Star Gate on the Ice Field
The bow of the Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine sliced through the Crystal Wall of the G-771 Plane as smoothly as a red-hot knife through butter.
This time, there was no earth-shattering boom. Thanks to the massive amount of data collected during their previous traversal of the Y-417 Plane, Jarvis had run tens of thousands of simulated optimizations on the dimensional navigation engine’s output curve. As a result, the commotion of this entry was even smaller than anticipated.
Outside the bridge’s observation window, the colorful light bands of the Sea of Magical Power rapidly faded away, replaced by the sight of a vast continent surrounded by a boundless ocean.
Allen didn’t waste time admiring the scenery in the stratosphere. He directly inputted the Star Gate’s predetermined coordinates into the navigation system. The colossal black warship immediately adjusted its posture, dipping its bow as it descended toward the northern part of the continent.
According to the exploration report, the placement of the Star Gate was very particular. It was located at the highest elevation on the entire continent—an exceptionally cold region far from any potential intelligent settlements, minimizing the risk of discovery.
"Ambient temperature: minus sixty-two degrees Celsius. Wind speed: thirty-seven meters per second. Atmospheric oxygen and Magic Power concentrations are twenty percent below standard values," Jarvis broadcasted the environmental parameters.
Looking down, as far as the eye could see, there was nothing but pure white snow and jagged glaciers. Gale-force winds whipped up shards of ice, ravaging the white desert. The sky was so gloomy that even the silhouette of the sun was an indistinguishable blur.
The Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine hovered a thousand meters in the air. Directly below, a small Star Gate stood silently upon the ancient layer of permafrost.
It was less than five meters tall and only wide enough for three people to pass through shoulder to shoulder, but it cost at least thirty million Low-Level Magic Stones to build. This was one of the few physical "freebies" from Allen’s twenty-one-and-a-half-billion deal.
The Star Gate was covered in claw marks and the charred scars of energy burns. Of the fifty autonomous defense Golems originally deployed around it, more than thirty had been reduced to twisted parts scattered in the snow. Most of the remaining dozen or so were also damaged and in a low-power standby mode. On the bases of the ten automatic defense turrets, red warning lights blinked, indicating that ammunition reserves were below fifteen percent.
Looking at the scrapped Golems, Allen felt as though he were watching Magic Stones burn. His voice dropped a few degrees. "Retrieve the Star Gate’s combat log."
"Log analysis complete," Jarvis responded.
"Over the past year, this coordinate point has suffered three attacks.
"The source of the attacks has been determined to be native Magical Beasts.
"The highest detected attack energy level is evaluated as: mid-tier First-level Wizard."
Allen relaxed slightly. A First-level Wizard? The exploration report had evaluated the risk level of this plane as "high." Mere first-level Magical Beasts obviously couldn’t justify such a rating.
"Take over the Star Gate’s authorization."
"Taking over authorization... Takeover complete. The Star Gate’s structural integrity is at 98.4 percent. The Energy Circuits are unobstructed, and it can be activated at any time."
"Excellent." Only after securing this portal connected to the Wizarding World did Allen truly feel at ease.
He stood up and walked over to the massive observation window, looking down at the boundless expanse of the desolate ice field below. A real, functioning world awaited him to decide its fate. With a shift in his thoughts, he issued a command.
"Manifest Cybertron."
"Command confirmed: Fortress Workshop, fully deployed."
In an instant, space began to warp around the shadow cast by the Ten Thousand Miles of Sunshine. Eerie blue spatial rifts spread across the hard permafrost like a spiderweb. The ice immediately fractured, emitting a series of sharp CRACKS.
Immediately after, a torrent of metal erupted from the rifts! Thick, armored walls surged from the ground, a layer of white frost rapidly condensing on their surfaces. Countless buildings materialized out of thin air, solidifying from illusions as if they were being 3D printed.
A massive city of steel grew madly at a visible rate upon this ancient, unchanging ice field. A dome closed overhead, shutting out the howling, freezing winds. The blue light pillars of the Earth Vein Magic Furnace shot into the sky, lighting up a man-made starry sky beneath the leaden gray canopy.
In just a few short seconds, a heavily armed Steel Fortress violently erased the original natural landscape, becoming the undisputed landmark of this white world.
Allen’s figure flickered, and he appeared inside Cybertron’s command center. "Release all Demon Eyes," he commanded. No matter the situation, uncovering the map was always the first priority.
The fortress dome split open. One thousand six hundred and forty-four spherical probes, each the size of a human head, silently ascended ten thousand meters into the sky under the dual effects of Optical Invisibility and Magic Concealment. Spreading out in all directions with the fortress as their center, they would spend the next three days constructing the Celestial Net detection system that would cover the entire plane.
Allen sat back down in the Commander’s seat. In front of him, a massive sand table gradually lit up. As the Demon Eyes transmitted vast amounts of data back to him, the plane shed its veil of mystery, and the contours of the land were sketched out bit by bit.
"Initial scan complete," Jarvis reported.
"The plane possesses one main continent with a roughly surveyed area of thirty-five million square kilometers. There are also seventy-three islands of varying sizes, and the ocean coverage rate is approximately sixty-four percent."
The data stream constantly refreshed. The alignment of mountain ranges, the main branches of rivers, the density of forests, the elevation drops of basins... The topographical map fleshed itself out with astonishing precision.
Allen waited patiently. He was waiting to see if the Demon Eyes could discover the two primary targets highlighted in the exploration report: traces of the Crimson Hand’s activities, and the "irreversible pollution."
However, as the minutes and seconds ticked by, and the scan covered nearly a third of the continent’s territory, the sand table remained outrageously clean. Aside from the scattered energy reactions of Magical Beasts and the green glowing dots of a few high-concentration Magic Ore Veins, there was nothing.
There were no residual energy signatures indicating Dawn Star Level Black Wizard activity. There were also no anomalous areas matching the characteristics of "pollution."
"Commander, within the current scanning range, no distinct signals have been detected for the two high-risk points mentioned in the initial exploration report," Jarvis’s voice sounded.
Allen narrowed his deep blue eyes slightly. This was abnormal.
Either that group of Black Wizards and the supposed pollution source possessed concealment abilities far beyond his imagination, allowing them to evade immediate detection by the Celestial Net system, or... they had taken on a more covert form and completely integrated into this world. Whichever it was, it meant trouble.
Outside, the polar storms continued to rage. Allen sat quietly for two days until the final batch of Demon Eyes completed their high-altitude orbital positioning, piecing together a complete plane detection network.
A high-definition, three-dimensional map of the entire G-771 Plane finally took full shape before him. On the map, in the central region of the continent, far from the extreme northern ice fields, thousands of conspicuous areas were simultaneously highlighted.
"Commander, the intelligent life settlements have been marked."
