Not only that, but the Revolver also appeared in Wei’en’s hand in an instant. He pulled the trigger on the bandaged man.

Although the bullet passed through its body without any resistance, seemingly causing no physical damage, still—

’Too slow!’

"Abdeljalil!" (Mechanical Box!)

Wei’en summoned the Mechanical Gate and took out a sniper rifle.

Haste Rune, Burst Rune, activate!

Feat: Ballistic Control, Rapid Fire, activate!

While the bandaged man was still confused under the influence of the Charm Spell, the sniper rifle let out a series of dull thuds. Each bullet, wreathed in the Power of Death Origin, passed through its body again and again.

"Roooaaar—Yanis!"

"You, you all, no, stop!"

"It’s the Power of Death Origin, the Death Pollution characteristic!?"

Countless voices, both male and female, erupted from within the bandaged man’s body, all of them filled with terror.

Wei’en paid them no mind. Combining the Blink Spell with his sniper rifle, he repeatedly triggered the Death characteristic, accumulating progress toward Instant Death. In just three seconds, he had fired twenty bullets.

[Consumable Origin discovered. Use Soul-Devouring Magic?]

"Haaa—"

As this mournful, desperate wail rang out, the bandaged man collapsed with a crash, his bandages scattering across the floor. Then, one after another, ethereal figures drifted out of his desiccated body.

They had small braids in their hair and similar facial features. They looked at each other mournfully, and as the darkness dissipated, they slowly faded away.

’So this monster really was the one who killed those Keman people!’

Wei’en watched as the light returned to the surroundings. The look the Keman people gave him before they departed lingered in his mind—a gaze filled with incredibly complex emotions: despair, sorrow, and also gratitude...

He glanced down at the withered corpse on the ground, took a deep breath, and banished the image from his thoughts.

’The powerless are ultimately at the mercy of others!’

"Adagua!"

[You used Soul-Devouring Magic to devour Cecilia Crois’s Origin. Your Origin has been enhanced. Evaluation: The taste of slaughter? Special Rewards: Origin +4.]

’Four points of Origin?’

Wei’en recalled that this was the same Origin reward as Henrik’s. It was likely the standard reward for someone at the Director Level.

’So, this bandaged monster’s Origin Power is different from the Eyeless Monster’s?’

"Are you all right?" Just then, Clelia emerged from the shadows nearby. "I just realized I couldn’t sense anything in here..."

"It’s nothing. It’s over." Wei’en shook his head, not saying much more.

"Oh? Looks like you went through a tough fight." Clelia glanced at the lingering signs of battle and then at his tattered clothes. She chuckled softly, not pressing for details about the fight. Instead, she gestured toward the Pyramid in the distance and asked, "What’s that?"

Wei’en also looked at the silvery-white Pyramid. "I don’t know yet."

His gaze remained fixed on the Pyramid, unwilling to shift even an inch, as if something on it was drawing him in.

"I feel like I’ve seen it somewhere before..." Clelia tilted her head slightly. Noticing Wei’en’s stare, she walked over and tapped him. "Why are you just standing here? Let’s get a closer look."

"Hm? Oh."

Wei’en snapped back to reality, his gaze shifting away from the Pyramid. He frowned unconsciously.

’I just spaced out, my mind completely blank!’

’What’s going on?’

He checked his panel but saw no new notifications. After thinking for a few seconds, he turned to Clelia and asked, "Are you getting a strange feeling?"

"Me? A strange feeling?" Clelia gave him a puzzled look, then, as if she understood, she gave him a seductive smile. "You don’t mean when I just tapped you, do you? Mmm, I did feel something. Your muscles are very firm!"

Wei’en: "..."

’I shouldn’t have expected anything from her!’

"Hee hee hee... Let’s go. We’ll go have a look."

With that, the two of them walked toward the Pyramid.

But as they drew closer, strange, twisted runes began to light up one after another on the Pyramid’s silvery-white surface. The symbols had no symmetrical structure, no straight Rune Patterns, and no regular core nodes. Each design seemed to be independent, emitting halos of various colors.

Wei’en’s eyes lit up. This was a rune system he didn’t recognize!

"This feeling is familiar..." Clelia studied the symbols thoughtfully. "I must have seen them somewhere."

"You’ve seen them?"

"I can’t remember. It probably wasn’t anything important."

"Oh."

Hearing her say that, Wei’en walked straight to the base of the Pyramid, wanting to touch the runes. After a moment’s thought, however, he had the Secret Master place a Spirit shield around him—a basic show of respect for the unknown.

[You have touched a vessel of an unknown being’s killing intent. As your Spirit Level exceeds 5000, you are immune to the Slaughter Dreamscape. Evaluation: The Origin of Slaughter... Heh heh, interesting! Special Rewards: Survival Points +50, Spirit Level +3, Resilience Level +3.]
