Chapter 311 - 145: Sorry, I Refuse
Two days later, Wei’en finally managed to partition off a workshop in a corner of the theater. He moved his undamaged magic potion-making tools and drill press inside, planning to find time to supplement them with other equipment.
After two days of research and experimentation, he had gained a preliminary grasp of how to use the theater space.
It was a small space, separate from the real world.
The strange thing was, as long as he used something like a wall to partition the theater, the areas inside and outside the wall became two separate spaces.
In simple terms, this meant that an attack from outside the wall, even if it broke through, would not damage any items inside.
Of course, Wei’en had asked the clown about the principles behind this space, but that unreliable fellow had hemmed and hawed for ages without explaining anything clearly.
This made him realize that the theater space was definitely not created by the clown.
After setting everything up, Wei’en took out the Golden Pocket Watch, ready to try contacting the Ghost Soul School and ask if they had any solutions for what he had done in the Caster City State.
The moment he took out the blue and white box, he saw it flashing with light.
’Hm? Is there a letter?’
Wei’en opened the box and looked inside. A letter, scrolls, clothes, a small box?
He took out the letter first, hoping it contained some good news...
Over the past few days, he and Clelia had been busy fleeing and didn’t know much about what was happening in the outside world.
However, they had learned from some well-informed people that he, Wei’en Loft, a wicked Mutated Mage, was now wanted as a mastermind of the Caster incident, along with Calamity Legend Ales.
And it was a joint warrant, issued by the Dawn Church and the Shetland Kingdom...
This news made Wei’en so angry he lost his appetite for a bowl of rice, and it made Clelia laugh so hard she collapsed on the floor.
He could accept being wanted.
But how could they lump him in with Ales as a mastermind?
Before that incident—no, before Tina’s mutation—he didn’t even know someone was planning to move against the Dawn Church...
"For the respected Wizard Wei’en Loft, to be opened personally."
"First, congratulations on your successful promotion to Official Mage, Ghost Soul School internal designation 337. According to the school’s wizard management regulations, every Official Mage receives a reward."
"We are now issuing you two Knowledge Scrolls on the Undead Magic system, one scroll of ’Gonzalez (Elementary),’ and a set of accompanying equipment."
"Your redemption list is now unlocked up to the Advanced Mage stage. You may select and redeem knowledge suitable for you. (Redemptions are available at a 20% discount from the normal price.)"
"Furthermore, Dean Josue Sexton, Great Mage of the Feng Enliso Research Center, and Director Amidich Fried, Great Mage of the school’s intelligence department, both wish to speak with you face-to-face. After reading this letter, please wait by the communicator."
"Note 1: A communicator is included with this letter. It will also be your sole designated tool for communicating with the Wizard Management Office going forward."
"Note 2: The communicator is issued only to wizards who have made special contributions to the school. Your internal designation will typically serve as the communication channel. Please keep this in mind."
"Finally, we wish you all the best."
"On the path of pursuing knowledge, death is not the end. —Lavender Kafreira, Ghost Soul School Wizard Management Office!"
After reading the letter, a rare smile appeared on Wei’en’s face. It was, after all, good news.
At the very least, the Ghost Soul School still acknowledged his status as a Wizard and had issued his promotion rewards. This meant the school didn’t disapprove of what he had done in Caster.
He then took the other items out of the blue and white box.
There were three parchment scrolls, a black "trophy communicator" engraved with golden patterns, a Wizard Robe imprinted with the Ghost Soul School’s black-flame-and-red-eye sigil, and a small box.
’Undead Transformation, Corpse Stitching and Modification? Oh, I think I saw this before. Junior Mages have to transform at least one undead creature and send it to the Undead Realm.’
’Transforming undead?’
Tsk. ’What was that Liaison Officer’s name again? Olivia?’
With these two scrolls, he could start the process of turning her into an undead.
He hoped she would enjoy the feeling of becoming an undead creature. He also wished she would run into many of those wizards Shawa mentioned—the kind who love to experiment on Undead Creatures.
As for the elementary Gonzalez scroll, Wei’en glanced at it once before tossing it directly into his Space Ring, planning to use it as study material for Shawa and Zero.
With his Gonzalez language skills already at the expert level, he recognized every word on the parchment with a single glance. There was no need for him to study it.
He also opened the small box to take a look.
Seeing the various knives, saws, and wrenches of all sizes inside, he figured they were the accompanying equipment for corpse stitching and modification.
’The kit is surprisingly complete...’
With that thought, Wei’en turned his gaze to the last item: the black trophy communicator.
Its appearance was similar to the one he had previously purchased from the Ghost Mage, Ms. Tren.
However, this one was more exquisitely crafted and had additional complex golden patterns, which were likely some kind of higher-level runes.
’Issued for special contributions... like a specially encrypted communicator?’
From this, it wasn’t hard to deduce that the Ghost Soul School had methods of monitoring all wizards at the apprentice level and above.
Wei’en leaned back calmly in his chair, waiting for the "call" from the two Great Mages mentioned in the letter.
The only monitoring method he could think of that could also bypass his panel’s notifications was the Ghost Meditation Technique!
Moreover, every time he had learned or upgraded the Meditation Technique, the panel had prompted him that an unknown Origin Power was encroaching, and that there had been a mutation in its fundamental properties.
