Wei’en stared fixedly toward the church deep on Dakman Island. "I want to take a look."

’Four Pyramids gathering murderous intent, the sacrifice of the entire Keman populace on the island, mysterious Alchemy Runes, and those bizarre bandaged men with power comparable to the Director Level... "Th-Then I’ll accompany you!" Clelia said, walking to Wei’en’s side and taking his arm while waving to Velen behind her, signaling him to lead the men into the cabin. "Besides, I’m also curious to see who is so proficient with such an array."

Wei’en turned to look at Clelia. His gaze fell upon her flawless face and her charming, warm eyes...

"What’s wrong?"

"Nothing."

Wei’en calmly glanced around. He didn’t say anything more to refuse her, but he sighed internally.

"Dammit, Stefan, can’t you just throw away those damn bottles and jars? I can hear them breaking from all the way over here!"

Although he had started the steam engine at the earliest opportunity, the *Ronan* was still dangerously close when the tremors from Dakman Island began to shake the sea.

As time passed, a heavy layer of dark clouds slowly gathered over Dakman Island, pressing down like a giant, gray boulder. Against the gloom, the four brilliant, multicolored beams of light on the island seemed to grow even brighter.

The tremors grew ever more intense, radiating outward from Dakman Island. The surface of the sea roiled as if churned by a colossal beast, sending massive waves in every direction.

The towering waves also agitated the aberrations beneath the surface, causing them to grow restless. One by one, they leaped from the water, chasing after the ships that were frantically trying to flee, as if their murky, bloodthirsty eyes already envisioned the sailors’ deaths.

Fortunately, powered by its steam engine, the *Ronan* had immediately pulled away from the coast. In less than two minutes, it had charged from the shallow waters of the port into the Deep Sea, where the impact of the waves was somewhat lessened.

Compared to the *Ronan*, however, the other wooden sailing ships were not so lucky.

Aside from a few quick-reacting three-masted schooners, most were smashed against the docks by the colossal waves. The hulls of some ships disintegrated instantly. Sailors and pirates alike were thrown into the water, attracting the already frenzied Deep Sea aberrations, which swarmed toward them from the depths.

"ROAR—"

The terrifying Deep Sea aberrations, which had slender, fish-like bodies covered in fleshy tumors, shot fleshy tentacles from their forms. They wrapped around the people in the water, opening their massive, fang-filled maws to tear them apart and devour them.

"Help me!"

But Dakman Island was surrounded by the sea, with countless aberrations lurking beneath the waves. They knew full well that if they couldn’t escape by ship, they would be trapped there forever.

Just then, thunder rumbled and lightning flashed from within the massing clouds. Streaks of silvery-white lightning tore through the gloom, striking Dakman Island.

To be precise, they struck the Pyramids, wreathing the four light beams in silvery-white sparks that then converged upon the central church.

’Watching this unfold, Wei’en guessed that the lightning must also be an effect of the Alchemy Array.’

The pillars of light atop the Pyramids vanished in an instant, the strange runic patterns upon them extinguishing one by one. The silvery-white towers dimmed, losing their luster, leaving behind only the desolation of expended power.
