Chapter 459 - 94: The Path to the Golden Core, the Heart Demon Tribulation
Murphy knew, of course, that Aurora had quietly slipped away while he was teasing Mo Ling.
He could even sense that she was in the pantry adjoining their private room, and he had a good idea of what she was up to.
"Your mother," Murphy said, his voice level as his gaze seemed to pierce through the walls, "is preparing a surprise for me."
Mo Ling nodded, though she didn’t seem to fully understand. She sat properly in her chair again, placing her small hands neatly on her lap. But her eyes kept drifting toward the door, filled with anticipation.
About fifteen minutes later, the carved wooden door of the private room was pushed open again.
This time, there was no attendant.
Aurora herself came in, pushing a small, silver serving cart.
In the warm light of the room, her sapphire eyes seemed especially clear and gentle.
After stopping the cart beside Murphy’s seat, she lifted the porcelain lid with her own hands.
What the bowl held was no mountain delicacy or seafood treasure, but a simple bowl of thin noodles in a clear broth.
The broth was crystal clear, dotted with a few sprigs of vibrant green vegetables, and a single, perfectly round poached egg rested in the center.
The most unique part was the noodle itself—it appeared to be a single, unbroken strand coiled in the bowl, giving off the aroma of wheat and rich stock.
It was a bowl of longevity noodles.
Aurora leaned forward slightly, placed the bowl gently on the tablecloth in front of Murphy, then raised her eyes to gaze at him.
"Brother, happy birthday."
Murphy had long since stopped deliberately hiding his name and origin, and with his power and influence, the surname "Mo" had become a unique and transcendent symbol across the Continent.
As the acknowledged strongest being on the Continent, the very rules of the world had already begun to bend to his will.
Murphy looked at the steaming bowl of noodles before him, then up at Aurora’s gentle and determined eyes, and finally at Mo Ling, who was watching him with eager eyes, her little face full of well wishes.
He picked up his chopsticks and gently lifted the single, continuous longevity noodle.
"Thank you."
...
「The next day.」
「Early morning.」
The Holy City was built into the mountainside, and Chenxi Hall stood majestically atop the highest and most imposing of its three peaks.
Behind the hall’s magnificent complex, past a quiet, ancient fir forest and near the edge of the summit, stood an inconspicuous little stone house.
The house was built from local materials, constructed from stones found on the mountain. Its appearance was so primitive that it nearly blended into the rock face, making it easy to overlook unless one was specifically searching for it.
At this moment, Murphy was sitting cross-legged on a flat boulder in front of the house, facing the rising sun in the East.
His eyes were slightly closed, his breathing long and deep, as if he had merged as one with the surrounding mountain wind, the misty air, and even the slow pulse of the earth beneath him.
And with each of his deep breaths, the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi from all directions was drawn in as if by an invisible vortex, silently emerging from the void.
At first, it came in wisps and strands, but it gradually converged into a visible, shimmering, pale-golden mist. It swirled around his body, slowly being drawn inside with the rhythm of his breathing.
The attracted Spiritual Qi was incredibly complex, containing all Five Elements and interspersed with numerous other energies of unique properties. Yet, as it approached Murphy, he cleansed it with his Mana, transforming it into the purest nourishment for the Dao Body that was slowly growing within him.
Since officially stepping into the Foundation Establishment Realm ten years ago, his "Spirit" had increased to 5, his "Qi" to 5, and his "Essence" had climbed all the way to 8.
As for his Magic Power Quality, it had already leaped to 4.0 after he devoured part of the Power of Origin left behind by the Mechanical Witch.
Essence: 8.
Qi: 5.
Spirit: 5.
Magic Power Quality: 4.0.
The Extraordinary System of this world.
The pure Energy-based Attack Power of an Official Wizard who had just crossed the threshold was around 7.
An Official Wizard with an ancient or powerful heritage, relying on more refined Magic Models or special powers, could reach 8.
Those who had delved deeper into the path of a Wizard, beginning to touch upon Elementalization, had an Attack Power of about 9.
The Cardinals of the Church Court, relying on their profound Holy Power and empowerment from faith, could generally reach 10.
Then there were even stronger individuals like Noe II, who reached a power level of 11.
As for Wizards like Calvin, Raphael, and Sigrid, who had begun to deeply integrate with specific natural phenomena and embark on the path of Elementalization, their Attack Power leaped to around 12.
「Ten years ago.」
Murphy’s base Attack Power = Qi + Magic Power Quality = 5 + 4 = 9.0.
An attack using his Mana alone already put him close to the level of a Wizard beginning Elementalization.
And when he used his Flying Sword, which had an Artifact Quality of 3, his Attack Power = Qi + Magic Power Quality + Flying Sword Quality = 5 + 4 + 3 = 12.
Later, while reciting poetry and waiting for the Church Court and the Wizards to try and win him over, he took the opportunity to reforge his Flying Sword, increasing its quality to 4.0. This raised his Attack Power by another point, to 13.
A one-point difference represented a twofold increase in power, which was enough to crush an Elementalization Wizard.
When Murphy underwent Dao Body Transformation—a form of Elementalization in which he transformed into a substance somewhere between observable and unobservable matter to achieve a state of unity with his sword—it was based on his Dao Body quality of 1.1.
Attack Power = Qi + Magic Power Quality + Flying Sword + Dao Body = 5 + 4 + 4 + 1.1 = 14.1.
An attack launched in this state would be 4.2 times more powerful than an opponent with an Attack Power of 12.
This was the fundamental reason why, all those years ago, he was able to effortlessly and devastatingly defeat four Elementalization Wizards and shatter the Church Court’s Wall of Faith—a barrier forged from a millennium of belief—with a single sword strike.
And now, ten years later, with the boon of [Qi Absorption and Eating Dew "Slightly Accomplished"], his speed of refining Mana was even faster, and his Magic Power Quality was even higher.
His strength had undoubtedly reached a whole new level compared to when he performed the "Six Swords of Qiankun."
