She opened her mouth to rebuke them again, but her throat constricted.

"You’re all lying!"

A child’s voice, choked with tears yet remarkably clear and furious, suddenly erupted!

It was Mo Ling.

She let go of Bobby’s hand and took a few steps forward. Tilting up her small, tear-streaked face, her dark eyes burned with pure fury as she glared at the arguing adults on the high platform.

"You... You’re all saying my father is dead!" she shrieked, her voice trembling with emotion. "My father is not dead! He can’t be! He promised Mother! He’s the strongest person in the world! You’re all liars! You’re bad people!"

Her words were like a drop of water thrown into boiling oil.

After a brief silence, a low laugh rippled through the Wizards of the Silver Tower. Adrian then let out an unrestrained sneer, a cold smile played on Ambrosius’s lips, and the faces of more Old Faction Cardinals and Silver Tower members, who were gradually revealing themselves, twisted into expressions of mockery, pity, or malicious glee.

Only Eleanor, upon hearing her younger sister’s desperate cry, felt the grief she had been forcefully suppressing finally break through. The sorrow in her eyes, held back for so long, came flooding out.

She swayed, as if all her strength had been drained in an instant. Her carefully constructed facade of strength shattered completely.

She looked down at the small, helpless figure, so stubbornly insisting her father wasn’t dead. Her heart twisted in agony, and for a moment, she was too choked with emotion to offer any words of comfort.

"Ha... HAHAHAHA!" Adrian roared with laughter, bending over and struggling to breathe, his face a mask of twisted glee.

He stopped laughing abruptly. Pointing to the incandescent white flame in the sky—a blaze now so immense it filled nearly half the firmament and radiated an endless aura of destruction—his voice grew shrill and piercing with excitement:

"You little bastard! Take a good look! Do you know what that is? That’s your father! The one and only Holy Sword, Murphy! His Elementalization has gone completely out of control! He’s forged himself into a falling Sun! He’s going to die! And he’ll take his ambition, his blasphemy, and the pollution he forced on this world down with him! They’ll all come crashing down and be wiped from existence! HAHAHAHA! That’s how it ends for him!"

Mo Ling froze.

No, perhaps she had already suspected it. She must have had an inkling when she cried looking at the falling Sun. She just refused to believe it, refused to even consider it.

Now, Adrian had roared that brutal truth at her in the most venomous way possible.

All the color drained from her little face. Her lips trembled as she gazed up at the terrifying light in the sky, the symbol of her father’s end. The immense grief made her unsteady on her feet.

"...No..." she managed to force the single word out through gritted teeth. Then, she shook her head violently and screamed with all her might, "NO—! My father isn’t dead! He isn’t!!"

Bobby was completely dumbfounded.

She couldn’t make sense of the adults’ words, but Mo Ling’s hysterical sobs told her that something truly terrible had happened.

She wanted to comfort Mo Ling but didn’t know what to say. She could only stand there helplessly, tears streaming down her own face, which was a mask of panic and sorrow.

Eleanor bit down hard on the tip of her tongue. The sharp pain jolted her out of her momentary stupor.

She took a deep breath, forcibly shoving down the turmoil of emotions rising within her.

"Mo Ling..." she began, reaching out a hand, her voice raspy.

But Mo Ling didn’t seem to hear her. She jerked her tear-blurred face up to look at Eleanor, though her gaze seemed to pass right through her, fixed on some unseen figure. She began to mutter, repeating the words stubbornly as if they were her only lifeline. "Sister... Father will be okay... he promised... he said he’d always be with me... he has to be here..."

"Yes, I am here."
