Chapter 407 - 319: Honored Guest Elder Review Farce (Part 3)
Elder Soron slowly rose, walked down from the high platform, and came before the Guard.
He gently placed a withered finger on the Guard’s forehead.
The Guard’s eyes struggled violently, but his Soul had already been locked in place.
Three seconds later, Soron withdrew his hand, his face livid.
He turned, his gaze sweeping over the heirs on the high platform, as well as the middle-aged official.
"This man’s Soul bears a special brand. It was concealed with a Secret Technique, but it couldn’t escape my eyes."
He sent a transmission to the group. "I can confirm... this is a Soul Secret Technique of the Hawkwood Clan."
Everyone, including Aidele, was deeply shaken.
Something so absurd was happening right before their very eyes.
Aidele’s pupils constricted, a cold glint flashing in her eyes.
She suddenly thought of Collins’s ever-present smile aboard the Skybound, and the warning Delia had sent her last night.
’Edwin said... there might be an incident today.’
But this was no mere incident. If mishandled, it could even trigger a conflict between the two great clans.
Elder Soron was furious. He stared at the frozen Guard, his voice filled with suppressed rage.
"In the affairs hall, the very heart of the Justice Clan..."
"To use a Death Warrior trained by the Hawkwood Clan to assassinate our clan’s Honored Guest Elder..."
He took a deep breath, his chest heaving slightly.
’Is this... a declaration of war?’
In the hall, all the Wizards bowed their heads, not daring to make a sound.
The wrath of a Level Three Great Witch was more than they could bear.
Elder Soron waved his hand.
Two Guards in Dark Silver Armor stepped forward and dragged the frozen "Guard" away.
The Guard’s Cultivation had been crippled, leaving him as limp as a pile of mud.
What awaited him was an even more brutal interrogation in the dungeons.
The seven Apprentices were also taken away by Guards for isolated questioning.
It was unknown who had deceived them, but given the circumstances, even those who backed them would not escape responsibility.
Elder Soron turned to the middle-aged official, his tone icy.
"Lock down the news, preserve the evidence, and on a chosen day... we will pay a visit to the Hawkwood Clan."
The middle-aged official hurriedly bowed. "Yes, sir."
The review ended abruptly, and Ian’s status as Honored Guest Elder was officially approved.
But no one in the hall cared about that anymore. Everyone was whispering about the shocking turn of events.
A Death Warrior from the Hawkwood Clan... assassinating an Honored Guest Elder in the Justice Clan’s affairs hall...
This was no simple conspiracy; it was a blatant provocation.
Aidele walked over to Ian, her eyes filled with apology.
"I’m sorry for getting you caught up in this kind of trouble."
Ian shook his head. "What’s meant to happen, will happen."
He looked out at the gray, hazy sky beyond the hall. "I’ll be heading back first."
The two of them walked out of the affairs hall side by side as the giant, black Metal doors slowly closed behind them.
Back at his residence, Gaga poked its head out of a Shadow. It had already learned of the incident through a Soul transmission.
"Ian... someone tried to hurt you again, gaga."
The little one flew to Ian’s shoulder and snuggled up against him gently.
Ian said nothing, his mind on the Blast Core on the Guard’s chest and Elder Soron’s transmitted message.
’The mark of a Hawkwood Clan Secret Technique...’ His eyes darkened.
’Collins... you’re even dumber than I thought.’
To activate a hidden agent, make a move in the Justice Clan’s affairs hall, and even leave behind traces of his clan’s Secret Technique...
’Is this how the young masters of great clans operate?’
Just now, Aidele had warned him that his opponent’s grandfather was a Morning Star Wizard, and that he absolutely must not act recklessly.
’Hmph! Do you really think I wouldn’t dare to move against you... Collins!’
Although he couldn’t act directly, he had plenty of other methods.
’I’ll guarantee... not even a Morning Star Wizard will notice!’
He let out a breath, easing the pressure in his heart.
’The priority right now is to dismantle the Abyssal Altar underground, and then... push for Level Three.’
On a main road outside East City, a carriage from the Hawkwood Clan rolled along slowly.
Collins sat on a soft cushion, holding a glass of amber-colored liquor.
Suddenly, the carriage door was pushed open and Grey Vulture strode in.
"Young Master... there’s been a problem."
"Speak."
The old man’s throat bobbed.
"The Death Warrior... was suppressed by Soron on the spot. He searched his Soul... and found the clan’s branding Secret Technique..."
CRACK! The wine glass in Collins’s hand was crushed to pieces.
"Soron... Why was he there?"
He knew this had gotten out of hand.
He never would have expected a clan Elder to be present.
And he certainly hadn’t expected that Elder Soron’s Trace Witchcraft could actually see through the concealment of his clan’s Secret Technique.
Now... the Hawkwood Clan would likely face an inquest from the Justice Clan.
Collins closed his eyes, then opened them and let out a long breath.
’It’s fine. They won’t dare to touch me. At worst... I’ll just get a scolding from my father and it’ll be over.’
"Grey Vulture, let’s head home first."
This couldn’t be hidden. He had to report it to the clan.
The carriage slowly departed from East City, heading in the direction of the Silver Sail City State.
