Chapter 353 - 298: Abnormal Material, New Altar Location
"Understood." Naseng nodded heavily, killing intent boiling in his eyes.
He turned and strode away, his footsteps fading down the corridor like a Fierce Beast unleashed from its cage.
As the former personal guard of the Clan Leader, he shared a deep hatred for the one who had secretly murdered Titus.
The Laboratory fell silent once more.
Aidele stood in place with her back to Ian, her full chest rising and falling gently with each breath.
After a long while, she finally spoke, her voice soft yet filled with an undeniable resolve.
"Ian."
"Yes?"
"This material... can it be used for tracking?"
Ian was silent for a moment. "It can, but it will require some preparation and time."
He walked over to the lab bench and spread out a fresh sheet of parchment.
"The contamination carrier contains the residual Spiritual Power imprint of its Refiner. It’s faint, but it can be analyzed.
Once I analyze the imprint’s characteristics, I can follow the trail back to the source."
Aidele turned to face him.
"How long will it take?"
"Give me one day." Ian picked up a feather pen and quickly jotted down a few steps on the parchment.
"During the analysis, the contamination could spread, so I need a completely secure, isolated environment.
Golden Oak Street won’t work. The Defense Array here is too weak. If it leaks..."
He paused, not needing to finish the sentence. The meaning was clear.
Aidele, of course, understood. She walked to the window and gazed toward the distant family castle.
Her expression was profound, as if she were weighing her options.
After a moment, she spoke slowly, a note of decision in her voice.
"Go to my backup laboratory in the eastern district."
She turned and looked at Ian.
"It was a private property left to me by my father years ago. No more than three people know of its existence."
"The third sub-level has a complete Isolation Array capable of sealing off all energy fluctuations below Level Four.
Even... a Morning Star Wizard would have a hard time discovering it without a thorough search."
Ian’s heart skipped a beat. ’Isn’t this the perfect place to build my altar?’
He had already gathered the materials for the altar, but he still hadn’t found a suitable location.
Here on the Central Continent, he couldn’t be as careless as he had been in Anoraya.
Level Four Morning Stars were not uncommon in the area, and even Level Five Bright Moon Wizards appeared from time to time.
If he were discovered communicating with the Abyss, he’d be swatted dead with a single slap.
"Is there an Alchemy Room there as well?"
"It has all the standard equipment."
Aidele retrieved a dark silver key from her Dimension Ring and handed it over.
The key was cool to the touch, its edges engraved with intricate Time Trace patterns.
"The address is No. 7 Wisteria Lane, in the eastern district."
"The main gate has a Bloodline Lock. It needs my blood to open."
She bit her fingertip, squeezed out a drop of fresh blood, and let it fall onto the key’s surface.
The blood seeped into the key, and its dark silver luster suddenly brightened, revealing a complex chain of runes.
"Take this. Delia will lead you there. You can stay there from now on. It’s safer."
Ian took the key and held it in his palm.
The metal felt cool, still holding the faint warmth of Aidele’s fingertip.
"Then who will take over here?"
Aidele walked to the constant-temperature cabinet, looking at the neatly arranged potions inside.
Her gaze was calm, but a dark undercurrent swirled deep within.
"I’ll take over here for the time being. There are some things... I need to handle personally."
Ian nodded and asked no more questions.
He put the lead-sealed metal box into his Dimension Ring, quickly gathered his things, and turned toward the door.
Gaga huddled on Ian’s chest, its silver-gray pupils watching the outside world.
"Even though it’s well-protected, you should still be careful."
Aidele’s voice came from behind him.
Ian paused and looked back.
He saw her standing before the lab bench, the morning light slanting in through the window, drawing a line of light and shadow across the side of her face.
"You be careful, too," Ian said before pushing the door open and leaving.
His footsteps faded down the corridor, eventually disappearing in the direction of the courtyard.
Aidele stood rooted to the spot, listening to the fading footsteps.
After a long time, she slowly raised her hand, her fingertips lightly brushing the cool edge of the lab bench.
There, a trace of smudged ink remained from where Ian had been writing just moments before.
The handwriting was neat, the thoughts clear and organized.
Just like the man himself—always calm, always methodical.
"Father..."
She murmured to herself, her voice echoing in the empty laboratory.
"Your daughter... I think I’ve found a clue."
Outside the window, the morning light was perfect.
Around the Magic Potion Workshop at No. 12 Golden Oak Street, dark undercurrents were stirring.
No. 7 Wisteria Lane.
From the outside, it was just an ordinary two-story stone house.
The walls were covered in withered wisteria vines, which swayed gently in the autumn wind with a soft, rustling sound.
The main door was shut tight, bearing no markings save for a rusty bronze lock.
Delia led Ian to the door and looked left and right.
The lane was empty, with only the faint clamor of a distant market in the air.
"This is the place."
Delia said in a low voice, taking a dark silver family token from her clothes.
The edge of the token was engraved with a Time Trace Badge, which gleamed faintly in the sunlight.
She pressed the token against the door.
BZZZ...
Complex bloodline runes appeared on the door’s surface, flowing together before converging at the keyhole.
CLICK.
The bronze lock opened automatically, and the door swung slowly inward, revealing a dim foyer.
"The young lady said the entrance to the third sub-level is in the study."
Delia was the first to enter, her steps light.
"Follow me."
Ian followed behind her, while Gaga, on his shoulder, scanned their surroundings warily.
The foyer was empty except for a few pieces of furniture covered in white cloths. A thin layer of dust coated the floor.
It was clear no one had been here for a long time.
Passing through the foyer, they entered a narrow hallway.
At the end of the hallway was an oaken door, left ajar, revealing rows of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves inside.
Delia pushed the door open, entered the study, and walked to the bookshelf at the far end.
She reached out and pressed a small, inconspicuous indentation on the side of the shelf.
KLAK, KLAK, KLAK...
The sound of turning gears echoed as the bookshelf slowly slid to one side, revealing a stone staircase leading down.
The stairs were narrow, wide enough for only one person to pass at a time.
The walls on both sides were embedded with glowing moss that cast a faint, ghastly green light.
A faint... musty smell permeated the air.
Like ancient tomes that had been sealed away for a very long time.
"It’s down there."
Delia stepped aside, gesturing with her eyes for Ian to go first.
"I’ll stand guard up here for now. If anything seems wrong, notify me immediately."
Ian nodded and stepped onto the stone stairs.
Gaga clutched his robes, its small head swiveling around, its pupils glinting in the dim light.
The staircase descended for about thirty meters, ending at a heavy metal door.
The door was covered in isolation runes that flowed with a dark gold luster, completely sealing off all fluctuations from behind it.
Ian took out the key Aidele had given him and inserted it into the lock.
With a soft turn.
With a CLICK, the metal door slowly swung inward.
Behind the door lay an underground space constructed entirely from massive, dark cyan stones.
The space wasn’t large, about two hundred square meters.
In the center stood a stone platform, its surface covered in the complex runes of an Isolation Array.
Twelve fist-sized Order Crystals were embedded along the edge of the array.
Pale golden energy flowed within the crystals, shimmering faintly in the dim light.
Aside from some standard laboratory equipment, the entire space was bare.
Ian first conducted a thorough inspection, not missing even the most hidden corners.
After confirming there were no surveillance runes, he nodded in satisfaction.
"Not bad at all, Gaga. We’ll be staying here for a long time."
Gaga blinked its little eyes and nuzzled his ear.
"As long as I’m with you, it doesn’t matter where we go."
