Chapter 365 - 302: Manuscript, Remains, and Projection (Part 2)
Warm and scorching, with the roaring burn of his Star Bloodline.
He could even faintly feel the starry sky of the Yalan Continent resonating with the Seed of the Stars.
Through the Phase Soul Weaving Technique, he was experiencing the changes in another body.
Li Xing’s Sea of Spirit was expanding, his bloodline undergoing its final metamorphosis.
Information about star-related Witchcraft condensed and took form, bit by bit, deep within his Soul...
It was a sign that he was about to step into the True Form Tier.
The True Form Tier on the Yalan Continent was equivalent to a Level Three Wizard in the Wizard World.
His projection... had reached this level before his main body.
’It might be a few days, or it might be a few months, but this feeling of being on the brink... it’s getting stronger and stronger.’
Ian opened his eyes. The cold stone walls of the Laboratory were reflected in their depths.
Deciphering the Ancient Abyssal Manuscript, searching for the Eternal Shadow, and his projection’s breakthrough.
’The Phase Witchcraft Tool... if I can successfully refine it...’
It would not only strengthen the Link with the Projection World but could even establish a more stable Two Realms Passage.
Then, the insights from his projection’s breakthrough could be fed back more completely to his true body.
’The experience and understanding of a Level Three Wizard...’
Ian took a deep breath, suppressing the thoughts churning in his mind.
’One step at a time. For now, I’ll wait for news from Aidele.’
「At dusk,」
Aidele arrived on time, carrying a heavy Metal Box.
The surface of the box was covered in engraved isolation Runes, but even so, Ian could still feel the... cold emanating from within.
"I found it."
Aidele placed the Metal Box on the experiment table, her fingertip tracing over the lead seal.
The Runes dimmed and the lid sprang open.
In that instant, the light inside the Workshop twisted for a moment.
The halo cast by the Crystal Stone Lamp bent visibly at the box’s opening.
As if an invisible hand had forcibly snapped it.
The box was lined with dark blue velvet, and in the center lay a... piece of something.
It was difficult to describe.
It was about the size of an adult’s fist, irregularly shaped, and its surface was covered in fine cracks.
Its color was a pure dark silver, but the "darkness" wasn’t from any pigment or the mineral’s natural hue.
Instead, the moment light touched its surface, it was utterly devoured, creating a profoundly unnatural visual void.
Eternal Shadow Remains.
Ian stared at it for three seconds before a panel with data popped up at the edge of his vision.
[Detected residual Cosmic Dark Matter...]
[Purity: 74.3%]
[Weight: 2100 grams]
[Rule Traits: Void, Devouring, Shadow Affinity]
[Warning: Direct contact may lead to spiritual disorientation...]
The data was quite detailed.
But Ian’s attention was drawn to the cracks on the surface of the remains.
Deep within the cracks flowed a faint darkness that seemed to devour light itself.
The fracture surfaces were jagged, as if torn apart by some immense force.
It reminded him of the shard of Void Crystal he had seen at the Prow Trade Fair.
The same tear marks, the same ancient aura.
"The origin of these remains..." Ian looked up.
"The records in the family Secret Vault show it’s from over three thousand years ago."
Aidele’s voice was calm, as if she were recounting a piece of history that had nothing to do with her.
"It is a trophy left behind by a Morning Star Wizard ancestor after slaying a ’Shadow Devourer’ in a Void Rift."
She paused before adding,
"That ancestor... was from my direct line."
Ian nodded without asking further questions. His fingers hovered over the remains, not touching them.
His Spiritual Power extended like the finest silk thread, slowly seeping into the surface cracks.
There were no maddening whispers, no impact from any Rules.
Only... absolute "void."
The moment his Spiritual Power Tentacles touched the remains, they were like water dropping into a desert.
They were silently devoured, leaving no trace. There wasn’t even the sensation of "being devoured."
It was as if that portion of his Spiritual Power had never existed.
Ian immediately severed the Link, cold sweat beading on his brow.
"This is dangerous," he said in a low voice.
"I know."
Aidele took another sheet of Parchment from within her robes and handed it to him.
"These are the borrowing records from the Secret Vault. Over the past three hundred years, seven Wizards have requested to study these remains."
Unsurprisingly, all of them failed.
Gaga perched on Ian’s shoulder, its silver-gray pupils locked onto the remains.
The little creature’s feathers fluffed up slightly. There was no fear in its eyes.
Only a nearly instinctual... craving.
Like a beast that had been starved for three days smelling blood.
"What do you plan to do with it?" Aidele asked.
"Refine a supportive Witchcraft Tool."
"A Witchcraft Tool..." Aidele repeated the term, a flash of understanding in her eyes.
"No wonder you need Void Crystal and Star Realm Silver Sand."
She walked to the window and looked out at the darkening street below.
"The Secret Vault has all these materials in stock. I can have them brought out."
"But the Refining process... are you sure you can control it?"
"I’m not," Ian admitted honestly.
"But we have the Isolation Purification Witch Array here. There won’t be any danger. It’s worth a shot."
Aidele fell silent for a moment. "What do you need from me?"
"Just provide ample materials and make sure I’m not disturbed."
Aidele turned, her deep purple robe sleeves shimmering faintly in the light.
"Alright." Her voice was soft.
Ian glanced at her but said nothing.
He returned his focus to the Metal Box, his fingertips once again hovering above the remains.
This time, he didn’t probe it directly.
Instead, he activated the *Starry Sky Festival*, mobilizing the Power of Order Stars.
Pale golden Energy condensed in his palm, forming intricate patterns of Starlight.
Then, he slowly pressed his palm toward the surface of the remains.
SSSS!
A faint sound, like cold water sizzling in hot oil.
The moment the Starlight touched the dark silver, the cracks on the surface of the remains suddenly lit up!
It was a visual distortion, the "Devouring" process forcibly made manifest. It was like countless tiny mouths madly gnawing at the Order Energy.
But Ian didn’t back down. He maintained the Energy output as the panel in his Sea of Spirit operated at full speed.
[Recording Rule conflict...]
[Analyzing Void trait...]
[Calculating Shadow affinity...]
A stream of data refreshed madly at the edge of his vision.
At the same time, he split off a wisp of his consciousness and submerged it in the depths of his Sea of Spirit.
The Phase Anchoring that connected him to the Yalan Continent was now fluctuating even more violently.
’Li Xing’s breakthrough... it’s getting closer and closer.’
Abyssal Ancient knowledge, the Shadow remains, the projection’s breakthrough.
He pulled his hand back. A faint, stinging pain lingered in his palm—the residue of Order being devoured by Void.
"I’ll begin the Refining in three days," he told Aidele.
"For these next three days, I will need an environment of near-absolute silence."
Aidele nodded and turned toward the door.
She stopped at the doorway and glanced back.
Ian had already lowered his head again, his fingertips tracing slowly across the Abyssal Ancient beast hide.
In the light of the Crystal Stone Lamp, his profile looked calm, a picture of deep Concentration.
Gaga was curled into a ball on his shoulder, the Dark Silver remains reflected in its silver-gray pupils.
The man and the raven, each immersed in their own world.
Aidele gently pulled the door shut.
The sound of her footsteps faded and then disappeared.
In the basement, only the rustle of a Feather Pen on Parchment remained.
And beyond the window, deep in the endless night,
was the ever-clearer resonance from the star that was about to break through.
