Chapter 4, Episode 7 [Between Ideal and Reality] Part 1

Nov. 14, 2813 noon Western Continental Calendar

For the first time in months of the year, Liang Zhen was visiting Pireus, the capital of Roselia.

Long time no see in the big city.

The castle city of Ipilos also boasts a breakthrough size as a castle city dominated by nobility, but it was only natural that it would be a few steps inferior to the capital of the kingdom.

Well, the population and streets need not be compared to cities like Tokyo and Osaka, but they can still be considered one of the greatest cities in the Earth world.

"You don't have much air..."

Through the first castle gate, Liang Zhen, who entered the city, smiled.

When I say the air isn't good, I'm not talking about smelling bad or anything.

Regardless, if you sniff carefully, a slight smell of sewage will make you nose, but that's the same in every city, and it's not as loud as saying because it's pretty well maintained on the streets of big cities.

There are many things I would like to say based on the cleanliness characteristic of the Japanese people, but I can't even say that it's such a bad environment.

When I say air here, I mean the harsh atmosphere that covers the city.

While surrounded by about twenty soldiers, Ryojin advances his horse towards the royal castle.

"Do you feel restless somewhere?

"Open-air merchants don't seem very vibrant either."

I guess Sarah and Laura felt the same thing.

Looking around somewhere surprised.

"What's the problem?"

Liang Zhen's gaze looks at the end of the street.

Shortly after the end of the civil unrest, the city should have been more vibrant and hopeful.

The streets were overflowing with crowds, and open-air merchants built in the square were calling in guests as far as their voices were concerned.

Originally, the voice that brings in the guest should be echoing this far.

To say that you can't hear it is either the open-air merchant has gone shopping or is losing his enthusiasm to do business.

"Maybe Queen Lupis isn't governing very well,"

"I guess..."

Liang Zhen stares abominably at the royal castle when she tongues sharply at Sarah's words.

This would not be the case if governance was going well.

The boulevard hasn't changed as much, but it feels like the number of displaced people squatting behind the sidewalk has increased.

"Well, this won't be so much trouble securing the peasants"

Displaced persons are the generic name of humans who have abandoned their homes and lands.

Almost identical to, but implying for, refugees, people who have been driven from their country by war or religious oppression are referred to as refugees, whereas displaced persons often use them for human beings deprived of their homes and land for economic reasons.

Well, neither of them are the people who are going to lose their homes.

There are only two paths ahead of them.

They'll either be sold as slaves or they'll die on the side of the road without anyone saving them.

Unfortunately, unlike modern society, there is no life support or NPO assistance in this earth Earth world.

If they do, even on an undeveloped land called the Waltenia Peninsula, there is great potential for them to choose to migrate.

"Queen Lupis can make trouble, too. I don't think I'd disagree in particular."

"Ah. That's convenient for us. But why is it getting so bad?

As Laura pointed out, Lupis would happily move them to the Waltenia Peninsula.

Their presence of displaced persons creates a decline in security.

As long as they stay in the king's capital, it's better for Lupis to drive them to the peninsula.

The question here is why the number of displaced persons has increased over the past year or so.

No matter, unlucky people exist in any world.

There will be people who like to beat up and pay their debts, and there will be people who can't work because of illness or injury and who have lost their homes.

Even a year ago, such a human being existed in this king's capital in no small measure.

But the number of humans sitting out in the alley is definitely up from a year ago.

No war has yet spread inside Roselia.

Nonetheless, if the number of displaced persons were to increase, I could only assume that there was a problem with politics.

"Possibilities would be that nobility tightened the tax squeeze or bureaucratic corruption..."

There may be other causes, but what seems most likely is the possibility that Lupis is causing confusion at the field level because of his assumption of political power.

That it is good for idealistic reformers to clash with people who want to protect their vested interests.

Either way, it's proof that Lupis is not governing well.

(Pretty isolated, damn it)

If this is the capital of the kingdom, it is not difficult to imagine what the noble territory of the province is like.

Then one big problem arises.

Trends of Princess Ladine.

In these conditions of political anxiety, there will always be a rise in the forces that will say try to break the status quo.

And there will always be chaos. Apart from whether it will develop into a war or a gentle change of government.

At the end of the civil unrest, Ryo Jin expected the life expectancy of the Kingdom of Roselia to be five years, but apparently a sign that it is going to be shorter than that.

(I hope they don't jump over here... I can't do that)

But he had the certainty that there would always be movement while this reinforcement to Zaluda was away from the country, in the back of Ryo's true thoughts.

No matter how far away the land has been, the Waltenia Peninsula is part of the Kingdom of Roselia.

You can't say you're more unaffected than you are on the same boat called the Kingdom of Roselia.

(Well, do we have to leave that area to Bolts and Zhongwong as well)

After reading Elena's letter, I've already talked to her about some ways to respond.

I would have liked to have all my neighbors and join the reinforcements, but I can't empty Ceilios.

When it comes to people who are likely to be able to entrust internal affairs with current personnel, it would be about Bolts who have supported Rione as the back of the mercenary corps [Red Lion] for years.

Liangzhen turned his gaze toward the Bolts, who were paying attention to his surroundings at the rear of the group.

The Bolts themselves seem unhappy about not being able to get out of the battlefield, but Ryo Jan is buying his internal affairs skills high.

Sure, he won't be educated, but because he knows something called the world in a hands-on experience, and he has the wisdom to just use that experience.

In today's state of many samurai types, people with internal affairs abilities, even if they are not specialized, are precious.

Ryo Jin crossed the bouncing bridge of the castle chewing on his good luck.

"Master Ryo Shin... May I have a moment?

Into the castle, Sarah came to speak in a room guided.

After making sure there are no people around.

He doesn't really want others to hear it.

"Oh, what's wrong?

Ryo Jin turns his gaze to Sarah with a gentle grin.

"No... just wondering why Ryo Shin refused Mr. Nersios' said assistance..."

It's after last week's meeting.

Coming back, Nersios made a proposal for Ryo Trun, who remained indoors, which could be described as a fairly favourable condition.

Specifically, the main thing I said was that I would turn the young elves to the defense of the peninsula with a view to reconciling humans and elves, but Ryo Jin would say no on the spot.

And Ryo Jin hadn't told that story to anyone since.

Only one person, Sarah, who happened to be the only one left indoors watching what was going on on on the spot, doesn't know why she said no.

I've been thinking about it all by myself since then, but I really don't have an answer.

"Oh, about last week."

Liang Zhen nodded loudly as if convinced, asking quietly.

(I see, did you think alone and get no answers)

One distressed Sarah figure comes to mind, and her face is unwittingly frightening.

"What worries Sarah is that I turned down Mr. Nersios' suggestion on that occasion. And two things about not telling everyone that story?

"Yes."

From what Sarah had heard on the spot, it was a pretty favorable condition.

Both the turning of the young elves to Peninsula Security and the provision of the technology the elves possess should be of great help to Ryo Jin Tatsu today.

In particular, the proposal to move young people to the city of Ceilios seems very attractive in order to realize the Ryo True ideal.

In fact, everyone knew Liang Zhen was aiming to reconcile himself with the subhuman.

If you're not looking to reconcile, Liang Zhen is attacking the subpeoples by now.

Just like you destroyed the pirates.

So Sarah doesn't know what it means to turn down a suggestion from Nersios on the spot because of it.

Regardless of what turns out to be a no, the answer on the spot should be put on hold once and it should have been the way to go so far to hear the opinions of all Laura and Rio.

"Easy. Mr. Nersios tried me."

Sarah couldn't hide her confusion in Liang Zhen's words, which she said away like it was nothing.

"Have you tried it?

"Well, I was trying to find out how far a human being like me really wanted to reconcile with the subhumans. Does Sarah know why I called Mr. Nersios there?

Sarah hesitated to ask Ryo True what she thought.

"Reconciliation between human and subhuman... to convey that thought, right?

Ryo Jin nods deeply in silence at Sarah's words.

She definitely understood Ryo's true thoughts.

"But wouldn't Mr. Nersios's suggestion have been a ship across?

"Sure... but if it happens, we're in trouble."

"Trouble......?

Ryo Jin nods quietly with a bitter laugh.

(Well, I still can't help but understand)

Maybe that's a difference in experience.

Or talent.

Either way, that's one of the abilities that is absolutely necessary for a ruler.

Because Lupis and others are about to lose everything because it's missing.

"Easy. We have no aversion to subhumans. But that's just us. I can't even predict what farmers would think of moving to the Waltenia Peninsula. Didn't you?"

"Order of the Light God......"

In Sarah, the meaning of Ryo True Word was connected.

(Well, neither my sister nor I were from the Central Continent and we didn't really care, and most of the humans now under Master Ryo are from mercenaries or slaves. I do not believe so strictly in Meneose, the god of light. But I don't even know if the newly migrating peasants...)

Meneose, the Holy City, home of the Order of the Light God, is near the border between the southern kingdoms and the Empire of Quiltantia.

Although it is a distance issue and a relatively moderate faith in the eastern and northern parts of the Western continent, the degree of faith will vary between individuals, and if you do poorly, armed beeping may occur.

Whether or not, it would be easy to suppress force because it is a civilian, the subhuman sentiments would certainly worsen.

"Besides, it's impossible to talk about Mr. Nersios. That guy is a tribal chief of the Black" Dark "Elves, but he's not a dictator. There's no way the whole sub thing works just because of that guy."

Nersios would certainly be a powerful man, but it is difficult to move soldiers arbitrarily.

Not to mention that the history of subhuman persecution is not so easily wiped.

"Regardless of Mr. Nersios' personal feelings, some guys won't be able to abandon their resentment of humans, so they naturally need time to walk around. For us, of course."

"So, Nersios's suggestion..."

"I tried to see if I was real. Even if you acknowledge the ideal, are you qualified to make it happen? If I had jumped at Mr. Nersios's suggestion, he would never have believed me again."

Seeing Ryo Trun smiling quietly, something cold passes on Sarah's back.

(I wonder what this guy's eyes are looking at. Distant ideals? Reality nearby?

That thought came to Sarah's mind.
