Chapter 4, Episode 13 [Proof of Power] Part 2

Western Continental Calendar January 3, 2814 PM

Two men and women were face-to-face in one of the castles of the king's capital, Peripheria.

One is an old woman with a gentle grin.

The atmosphere she unleashes is calm and warm, boasting an unparalleled track record and strength as a warrior.

(This person remains the same at all times...)

Grahardt shrugged in his heart when he saw Elena carrying her elegantly handled teacup to his mouth.

The first time Grahardt saw [Roselia's White Military God] was when he was still in the Knights and shortly thereafter.

Though many knights were fascinated by her casual personality at the time, her charm has not shown decay even when plugged into old age.

The beauty of appearance fades with age, but the human attraction seems to be polished with each age.

"So, what did they think? How do you actually feel about seeing him with your own eyes?

To Grahardt, nearly one turn old away, Elena speaks in a polite tone.

Given the difference in accomplishments and experiences between the two, Grahardt himself felt bitter, but he said what he felt as he grinned at Elena, who, no matter how much he asked, did not try to change his language.

"In the words of Master Elena... to be honest, I can't judge you"

With hesitation, Grahardt spoke clearly as he felt.

"Sure, he personally seems to have strong self-control, but, after all, he leads too few soldiers. I don't think it will very much dictate the state of war...... and"

Grahardt shut his mouth once so that he could choose the words.

"Besides, many women are younger than the soldiers they lead... right?

With that said, Elena smiles innocently, as if she were a child when the prank succeeds.

"Did you know?

The colour of surprise spread to Grahardt's expression.

"No, just from a distance."

"Did you just?

Perhaps he watched Grahardt lead Ryojin and the others to the camp from somewhere.

"I wanted to talk to her before I saw her this afternoon..."

"I have no choice. As Your Majesty, there was a lot to expect from the reinforcements from Roselia... and I don't know what kind of argument the moderates would give me if I let you and Elena meet first."

The situation in which the Kingdom of Zaluda is placed is by no means optimistic.

Having fought the invasion of the Ortomean Empire alone for nearly a year, the land is exhausted and the general is in a state of abhorrence.

Rural fields close to the front line have been burned down, and working men have been conscripted as peasant militias, leaving women and children with no choice but to lean themselves into neighbouring urban areas.

And more and more people fail to receive adequate protection from their lords and sell themselves as slaves from the hardships of life.

The kingdom of Zaluda is beginning to decline in a visible way.

That is why now is the last opportunity left in the Kingdom of Zaluda, The Chance.

Now, with the support of both Roselia and Mist, it is possible to strike a showdown on domestic forces at once.

Of course, it's a beating that multiplies the country's survival, but it's worth doing.

At least, that's what people think, below Grahardt, headed by the King, who want the survival of the Kingdom of Zaluda.

"Grahardt... I know how you feel, but you can't deny a moderate human claim out of your head, can you?

Sensitive to the slight emotional swings Grahardt showed when he uttered the word moderate, Elena spoke in a mother's tone that embarrassed her child.

"But!"

"Okay? Isn't the moderate a traitor? They are thinking about becoming them and trying to make the best choice for this country and for His Majesty Julianus. Even if that's a different way for you knights, what you're looking for is the same... right?

(Well, it's their biggest problem to say that it's not malicious...)

Elena smiled bitterly in her heart at her words.

Because she knew that goodwill was the most dangerous poison to erode the country.

Still, if we don't embarrass Grahardt on this occasion, he will try to achieve his own justice with strength.

Unity of will by force.

It may be a definite and correct choice, but it is the last resort to be taken after all possibilities have been crushed.

"Regardless... Survival of the Kingdom of Zaluda"

Not knowing Elena's heart like that, Grahardt answers with a squeezing voice.

"Even if it becomes a part of the Altomere Empire, if the Zaluda royal family survives, I think that would be one of the options...... no matter the price, it's better than losing everything. Isn't it natural that there are people who think that?

"... is that okay with Master Elena?

Inside, from Elena's mouth, with feelings close to worship, she was heard words she did not want to hear, and Grahardt was distorted with a distressed look.

"What do you think I came all the way to this country to lead the army for?

The moment the word was released from Elena's mouth, the indoor air froze.

No glance, no expression, nothing has changed.

I'm just smiling calmly.

Yet Grahardt trembles its body with fear.

"I said something stupid... sorry"

There is no way we are silently watching the kingdom of Zaluda be absorbed by the Altomere Empire.

If I can be silent, I won't leave Elena Steiner to the reinforcements.

Still, Elena utters more words to beat Grahardt without changing her complexion.

"Well, I'm an old man who retired once, so maybe you can't help but be anxious."

"Oh, were you listening..."

When Liang Zhen and I first met each other, it was a rumbling we let go to see our attitude, but Grahardt didn't even imagine that was in Elena's ear.

If I was talking to a coworker in the bathroom with my boss's pussy, the air would cover the room as awkward as the person was listening outside the door.

"Yeah, old people still have good eyes and ears."

"Just kidding..."

The eyes and ears you say here probably aren't referring to Elena's physical function.

There's absolutely no way to tell me Elena was in that place.

And then Elena has a source inside the kingdom of Zaluda.

(Scared...)

Many humans refer to Elena Steiner as [Roselia's White Military God], but her true horror is not tactics or tactics on the battlefield.

No one knows by what means the hell you're going to get, but she has the power to gather all sorts of information about the continent under herself.

Pull out what you seek and assemble hypotheses from a wide variety of cluttered information gathered that way.

On the battlefield she does unleash a prestige that can be described as a military god, but that's just one side of her.

Grahardt took his gaze off Elena and leaned down.

"Yeah, just kidding... of course"

In that word, Elena laughs laughingly at Grahardt as she opens her mouth and solidifies it like she was taken aback.

"Bad people......"

"If you're surprised at this much, you can't control that kid's reins, can you?

"Is that about it?

to Elena's words. Grahardt asked narrowly.

He's not a bad person to guess so much that I don't know what that kid here is showing.

"Yeah, the most violent horse I've ever seen."

"Was it a rough horse..."

"Although the head is a snake or a scorpion."

Grahardt felt it was a big contradiction as to the criticism of the person.

Rough horses.

Certainly this criticism is incomprehensible.

Ryo Michizawa's true physique certainly has something to keep an eye on.

The face feels calm and humane, but I could imagine that people might change on the battlefield like Elena did.

But when you become a snake or scorpion, you can't imagine it from the bright true face of that time.

"Grahardt, don't take a sweet look at that kid. Unless you want to be eaten up."

"I don't think it's a criticism of our allies."

Elena's tone of mouth is as if she were an enemy general or arguing with domestic political enemies.

But Elena shook her head quietly at Grahardt's words.

"Don't get me wrong, Grahardt. I trust that kid, and that kid believes me, too. But, Grahardt, you're not enemies or allies to her yet. So give thanks to her and ask her honestly for help... before she is perceived as an enemy and takes everything from her."

"Really... if that one had the power of Master Elena's words... then... not necessarily"

Silence rules the indoors.

"Fine, you'll soon understand if you don't like it... everyone in this country..."

Elena smiles quietly.

Think of that young viper turning his fangs...
