Chapter 4, Episode 22 [Each Thoughts] Part 4

Built within the Kingdom of Zaluda, the fortifications of the Altomere Empire.

Built at the foot of a continuous mountain range on the border, this fort is the most important stronghold of the Ortomean Empire, invading Zaluda's interior.

In a room in that fort, Chardina was listening to Celia's report as she lay her body on the couch.

"The supplies and soldiers collected at Fort Nottis should reach the number scheduled in about a month. This will be your report on the status of replenishment."

Reading the numbers on the white paper documents, Celia cut the words once.

Fort Notis serves as a staging ground for supplies collected from within Ortomere.

From there, they pass through streets built to roam the valleys of mountain ranges and are transported inside Zaluda.

"Fine... we can finally settle this..."

Chardina shakes her head sighing as she clouds her shapely eyebrows.

time on an annual basis and the Eastern invasion, which took enormous effort.

Its first battle against the kingdom of Zaluda was the dawn of turmoil.

For Chardina, who was thinking about settling within six months, no matter how long since the war began, this past year has been a cursed year where unexpected things have overlapped.

Chardina, who consumed almost the same number of knights while taking over General Berhares in the battle on the Plains of Notice, stopped the march of the main forces to explore the trend of Ernesgura, which encroached on the northern border of the Kingdom of Zaluda.

The vigilance of the lateral spears of the great Ernesgoola and the division of the army into the hands of the main force and the invading forces were, in themselves, arguably natural decisions as commanders in charge of keeping the army.

Think back now, Chardina doesn't think you're making the wrong decision then.

It is true, however, that that Chardina's decision was one of the causes that led to prolonging the attack on the Kingdom of Zaluda.

After the battle on the Plains of Notis, if we had wiped out the defectors of the Kingdom of Zaluda with all our armies without delay, we would have been able to attack the capital, Peripheria, and proceed with the attack of the Kingdom of Roselia by now...

"Now we can finally get rid of that annoying guy..."

And thinking of the biggest cause this fight prolonged, Chardina shrugged as she bit her carefully groomed thumbnails.

It's one of Chardina's bad habits.

"You mean Joshua Berhares."

"This plan stays crazy because of that guy..."

Joshua took the surviving soldier and retreated after his father, General Berhares, jaded him in the Notice Plains.

Even though the number of casualties among the soldiers was equal, the victory belonged to Chardina more than General Berhares, the supreme commander on Zaluda's side, had been killed in battle.

As a nation of martial arts, the strength of individual knights is wonderful, but collaboration and command are important in warfare.

If you try Chardina, you were sure of the victory at a stage when you were taking over General Berhares, who was even said to be the patron saint of the country.

In fact, there is no human being in the Kingdom of Zaluda who boasts a reputation and track record comparable to the late General Berhares.

However, the invasion battle, which is supposed to be a lawnmower, is in a counter-attack on the part of Zaluda fighting under the command of Joshua Berhares, who, on the contrary, has been forced to make less sacrifices and fail.

Even though we were unable to increase the number of invading troops in preparation for Ernesgoura, the troops were prepared enough for the General to die in battle, defeat the chaotic defeated army of the chain of command and invade deeply within Zaluda.

It was defeated by Joshua Berhares.

Perhaps that should be praised not for Chardina's stupidity, but for his brilliant command of Joshua, who successfully used the characteristics of mountainous areas, such as valleys and winding streets with poor vision, and who ambushed the pursuit forces.

And Joshua's arms, who directed the defensive battle, attract the hearts and minds of the Zaluda nobles, who, coupled with the fame of his father, the late General Berhares, are corrupt to defend the country and their territory.

As a hero of salvation...

It is the moment when the three men of the nose knob jump onto the surface stage.

"We have temporarily pulled out a Knights strong in mountain warfare from the West. I'm not going to let Joshua Berhares do as he always does."

Battles are more advantageous with higher numbers of soldiers.

That is correct in itself, but not necessarily when asked if it is always correct on all battlefields.

The steep mountains and deep forests that dimensioned the kingdom of Zaluda were unfavourable for commanders unfamiliar with the land to run large armies.

In addition, the metal full-body armor worn by the knights exerts extraordinary power on the flat, but can only be a burden that wastes health in mountainous areas with high and low disparities.

But you can win if you put in a map based on information you've spent a great deal of time gathering from the locals and a knighthood that specializes in irregular warfare, dotted in the territory of the vast Ortomean Empire.

Because as long as the quality of the ground and the soldiers are mutually reinforcing, the only element that determines victory and defeat remains the number of soldiers.

(Plus if the Zaluda aristocracy turns around, there is no doubt of a strategic victory... after that, I hope I don't make a mistake. Enough for once to escape to prey in front of you...)

Alert, Chronic, Proud...

Chardina knows that a flash of miscalculation leads the winner to the loser.

Strategic victory only accounts for ninety-nine percent of victories. A tactical victory was essential to make the victory a hundred percent certainty.

"And a letter has been sent to His Highness Chardina from His Majesty the Emperor..."

As Chardina drifted through the sea of thought, Celia took out the script more than in her nostalgia.

"If you were a father... anyway, you'd be prompted to take down Zaluda quickly, wouldn't you?

Sighing, Chardina woke up her body lying on the couch.

All the letters that have been delivered this past year using early horses and birds once a week are of the same content.

(Your father is in a hurry... although I don't know how you feel...)

Naturally, there are limits to national power and to the mobilization of troops.

Otherwise, Ernesgoola and I are constantly fighting over the western border.

It was only natural that I wanted to finish the fight quickly.

Lend it to me.

Celia handed over the letter silently.

"Chi."

The face of Chardina, which peeled off the seal of the letter and flushed and read a sentence from the emperor, clouded, and a small tongue pounding leaked from her shapely lips.

As the First Empress of the Empire from day to day, an act incompatible with Chardina, who is committed to elegant and elegant behavior.

(Sounds like a bad story...)

A heartbreak occurs in Celia's heart.

"Read it too..."

"May I?

While answering that, Celia got the letter she was offered.

(I see... as per...)

Celia's expression reading the letter diagonally is equally cloudy.

"Northern female fox. You finally made a move..."

The sigh leaked from Celia's mouth when she saw the letters of Ernesgoola Army Movement.

"It seems that the Second Battalion is still stationed near the Zaluda border..."

From the beginning of the war, I expected this time to come one day.

But more than a year has passed since the battle on the Notice Plains, and the timing is too bad to start showing movement again at this time now.

"The north-south division of Zaluda is also on the current arrow... I wonder why it doesn't go as planned at all"

It's as if the Fate God hates the luxury of the Ortomean Empire, the wickedness of mezzanine.

Perhaps Ernesgoura is releasing a large number of undercover detectives inside the Kingdom of Zaluda to monitor trends in Chardina.

"Is it not possible to just make it look like this again? A year ago, Ernesgoola did declare war on both Ortomere and Mist countries, but there were still no signs of trying to go south just by occupying the city on the northern border. If you were going to intervene aggressively, it would have moved a year ago."

"Are you saying that Ernesgoola has no will to go south?

Celia nodded at Chardina's inquiry.

After the battle of the Plains of Notis, Ernesgoura has broken through the border of the Kingdom of Zaluda, occupying several cities in the northwest.

But this past year, the Ernesgoola army has shown no movement while remaining stationed in the occupied city.

With the right messenger on Zaluda's side, he can't move from the northwest.

"A year ago. His Royal Highness has stopped the march of the army for information on his participation in the Ernesgoola battle. I wonder if this is a bluff to delay our invasion..."

"Assuming that's the case, it doesn't make any difference what you have to think about."

The trouble with this problem is that we must only be prepared, even if it is a bluff.

There is no stopping the Ernesgoola army from going south without any preparation.

And I can't assure you that there won't be any more because there's no will to go south now in Ernesgoola.

Chardina sent a messenger at the stage where Ernesgura broke through the border, proposing a split occupation of the kingdom of Zaluda at no good source, but he is still driven back without an island to attach.

Under such circumstances, we cannot proceed with the attack on the capital, Peripheria, by exposing the defenceless flank.

"What are you going to do?

To Celia's words Chardina silenced with a crease between her brows.

(Wait for the troops to arrive, drag Joshua Berhares out into the field and win there...... and split North and South into a breath where he lowered his morale on Zaluda's side...... short showdown...... is this all we have)

What floated behind Chardina's brain was a regression to the measures she had worked out before the war began.

The great powers of the North cannot even be pulled out to negotiate.

Even if I care about that move forever and want to get out of here, I can't take years like this to occupy the Kingdom of Zaluda.

Chardina spreads the paper over the table, causing the feather pen to run with fierce momentum.

"Keep Sudo back from Roselia. As soon as the transfer of troops coming from the west is over, we will set up a battle. And take this to your father..."

Celia opened her eyes to the contents of the letter offered.

"Are you calling Lord Rolf?

[Shield of the Emperor] and the Knights of Kingsguard, named after the nations.

Make him one of the emperor's trusted neighbors, chief of the bodyguard.

The only time Rolf is on the front line is when the emperor himself goes to the battlefield.

"There's nothing more we can do than have no more commanders in defense than Rolf... and after we move our troops to the front line, we can't just drop this fort in case."

"You think the Zaluda side is going out to the rear blockade?

Chardina nods silently at Celia's inquiry.

If Chardina is pushed through a gap that pushes the soldiers forward and drops this front-line base, the Ortomere generals will be cut off and isolated from working with their home countries.

When we think about the residual force on Zaluda's side and the quality of the commander, it seems very unlikely that we can hit such a beating, but Chardina went for perfection.

"I'm not telling the boulders to move the Kingsguard Knights. I'm only going to ask you to keep this fort close by. I'm sorry, but I don't want your father to convince you... that you'll never lose the next battle."

To the firm determination contained in Chardina's words, Celia nodded silently, turning her heels and leaving the room.

"Yes... you will never lose..."

Chardina glared at the eastern sky as it stretched out the window as if to confirm her own determination.

With all sorts of thoughts crossed, a battle wagering the survival of the Kingdom of Zaluda approaches momentarily...
