Yes, I Have a Child with the Villain

Chapter 36: Will She Be Scared and Avoid Him for a While Again?

In the end, they took Ryan Grant back to The Seraphic.

The reason was that Ryan Grant genuinely wanted to watch a movie.

It was just that the little guy had been so sweet, saying things like, "As long as I can be with Mommy and Daddy, we can just stay home!"

Caroline Whitman found his good behavior almost unbearable. Her heart softened, and a strange sense of guilt washed over her.

She had to make good on the promise she’d casually made to Adrian Grant in the study to watch a movie with them.

Neither of them had any company business to attend to this weekend.

After Ryan Grant agreed to watch a movie, they took him down the elevator to the garage.

Adrian Grant carried the child and walked ahead. Caroline Whitman followed behind, pursing her lips as she watched the father and son.

’Putting the child aside... going to a man’s home to watch a movie, isn’t this basically a date?’

「The Seraphic.」

A month later, Caroline Whitman stepped into this space once again.

The decor inside was the same as before.

Her eyes swept across the room. There was nothing related to a child, not even Ryan Grant’s little slippers in the shoe cabinet.

It was clear Adrian Grant had managed the details very well.

But...

When Ryan Grant was about to change his shoes after coming in, Adrian Grant said, "Ryan, you don’t need to change your shoes today."

"Why not? Don’t I have any slippers here anymore?"

He opened the shoe cabinet and, sure enough, his little slippers were gone.

Adrian Grant looked down and ruffled his hair. "Did you forget? You took your little slippers to Brocade Bay."

Of course, Ryan Grant’s things hadn’t been thrown away; they had just been moved to another place.

"Oh." Realization dawned on Ryan Grant. He ran upstairs in the children’s shoes he was wearing, immediately looking for his little room.

Then he pattered back down, his cheeks puffed out. He looked up at Adrian Grant and said indignantly, "Daddy, you lied! What about the surprise you promised me?"

He might be small, but he hadn’t forgotten what Adrian Grant had said last time about a birthday surprise.

His birthday was next month.

Nothing had changed at all.

Adrian Grant replied, "Since it’s a surprise, how could I let you see it now?"

In reality, Adrian Grant had no intention of preparing anything.

In his view, the child would probably disappear in a month or two, returning to his original world.

There was no need to go to all that trouble.

However, Ryan Grant had been in this world for nearly two months, which was longer than he had expected.

He had to start considering whether he should set up a real children’s room for Ryan Grant before his birthday.

When Ryan Grant heard that, he thought it made sense and was completely taken in.

Only Caroline Whitman, who had witnessed the exchange between the father and son, couldn’t help but give Adrian Grant a mental thumbs-up.

’Great. Next time Ryan comes back to her place at Azure Heights, she’ll have an excuse ready.’

Her thinking was the same as Adrian Grant’s.

’The child might leave one day, so there’s no need to go to the trouble of setting up a room for him.’

But now, it seemed like it wouldn’t be impossible to do. After all, it was just one room.

’If Ryan Grant did suddenly leave and the room wasn’t needed, she could just save it for a future child.’

Adrian Grant changed the subject. "Come on, let’s see what movie Ryan wants to watch today."

Tiny’s attention was successfully diverted, and he familiarly ran into the home theater.

Adrian Grant followed behind and turned on the lights.

Caroline Whitman was the last to enter. As soon as she walked in, she saw the starry sky ceiling overhead.

Inside, there was just a large sofa, a coffee table, and a projection screen—simple, yet luxurious.

Tiny flopped onto the sofa like he owned the place, patted the spot next to him, and said to Caroline Whitman, "Mommy, come here."

Then he turned to Adrian Grant. "Daddy, you sit here."

Caroline Whitman looked over, and her eye twitched.

’Good grief, he’s arranged the seating perfectly.’

Her spot was right between the big one and the little one.

Caroline Whitman sat down and glanced at Adrian Grant. He was over by the media cabinet, flipping through discs, completely unconcerned about the seating arrangement.

After Ryan Grant picked a movie, Adrian Grant worked the controls, and a cartoon appeared on the screen.

The movie began.

As Adrian Grant walked toward the sofa, Ryan Grant, who had been sitting to Caroline’s left, scurried over to her right and patted the sofa. "Daddy, you sit here."

Adrian Grant’s gaze fell on the spot. He said nothing, simply walked over, and sat down, leaning back against the sofa in a lazy, casual manner.

In that moment, Adrian Grant’s cool, crisp scent overwhelmingly filled the space around her.

But that was all.

Caroline Whitman leaned back against the sofa, hugging a throw pillow, her eyes fixed on the projection screen.

None of the three had a habit of talking during movies.

The only sound in the home theater was from the speakers.

She glanced at Ryan Grant. The little guy was wrapped in a small blanket, staring intently at the screen.

As for Adrian Grant, Caroline Whitman dared a peek in his direction. He was also focused on the movie.

’It was hard to imagine this "villain" so engrossed in a children’s cartoon.’

Caroline Whitman pulled her gaze back and tried to focus on the movie’s plot, but she ended up yawning several times.

Eventually, her eyelids grew heavy. Her head tilted back, and she fell asleep against the sofa.

She hadn’t made much noise, but her posture was quite conspicuous.

As she slept, her head lolled to the side, tilting toward the small figure next to her. Just as she was about to rest her head on Ryan Grant’s shoulder, a hand reached out in time, steadily cupping her cheek.

Adrian Grant gently straightened her up, but her body went limp and fell right into his arms.

His movements froze. Just as he was about to steady her, he looked up and met Ryan Grant’s well-behaved, quiet gaze.

He thought about how loving his parents looked from Ryan Grant’s perspective.

Adrian Grant paused for a moment, abandoning the thought of pushing her away.

Then, he raised his index finger to his lips and made a soft "shhh" sound.

Ryan Grant immediately nodded vigorously, turned his little head, and obediently returned his gaze to the movie screen.

In the home theater.

On the sofa.

And so, Adrian Grant quietly held the woman in his arms, watching a cartoon with his son from a parallel world.

However...

He wasn’t sure whether to call it a mother-son connection or just "like mother, like son."

Adrian Grant’s gaze fell on Tiny.

The boy’s previously upright posture had changed; he was now lying on his side to watch.

Ten minutes later, when he looked at Ryan Grant again, the boy’s little eyes were drowsily shut.

"..."

Adrian Grant silently regarded the child lying on the sofa and the woman sleeping in his arms.

Then his gaze fell to the cartoon on the screen. The progress bar was only halfway through.

In the end, he watched the entire cartoon by himself.

Once the movie finished, the home theater became exceptionally quiet.

Adrian Grant lowered his gaze, looking at the sleeping woman.

Caroline Whitman was sleeping soundly. Her usually lively, animated features were now completely relaxed, revealing an unguarded gentleness.

In the dim light, his gaze swept over her slender neck. Looking further down, Adrian Grant only took a brief glance before looking away.

He leaned back on the sofa at his ease, his long fingers unconsciously stroking her soft, smooth hair.

A mischievous thought suddenly occurred to him. If Caroline Whitman were to wake up now and see herself lying in his arms, would she be so scared that she’d avoid him for a while again?
