Chapter 899: Hours before the Wedding
The next day.
As Xiaoyun woke up in bed, his wives were still asleep alongside him, except for Leyan. Her chin rested on her hand, staring down at his face from above.
"Morning, honey."
"Morning..."
"You can still sleep in for a bit longer if you want... Did you have a nice sleep last night?" Leyan softly asked.
"A lot better than the last two days."
Xiaoyun gently pushed Nami off his chest, then moved Wuli’s legs away next as he slowly sat up in bed.
"So nice to sleep in peace for once."
Letting out a small yawn, he instantly woke the two of them for a second before falling back asleep on the soft mattress.
"I’ll go cook breakfast."
"No need, I already made it last night. Go take a shower and wash your face... Don’t be mad at us, okay?"
Leyan’s words made Xiaoyun stop for a second as he stood on the floor. He turned back around as he looked back at her in the eyes.
"How could I be mad at you guys?"
"The things you said yesterday made us scared," Leyan quietly murmured as she didn’t shy away from eye contact.
"Like what?"
"Not trusting us... Do you genuinely think we’re going to look for other men when you’re gone?"
Neither side spoke up as they stared back into each other’s eyes... Until Xiaoyun suddenly let out a chuckle as he looked away.
"What are you chuckling for?" Leyan questioned.
"Leyan, do you really think I didn’t trust you guys?" Xiaoyun asked back as the smile disappeared from his face.
"How am I supposed to read your mind?"
As both sides fell into silence, Xiaoyun eventually spoke up again as he grabbed his towel and took out a suit from the drawer.
"If I really didn’t trust you guys, then I would have kept all of you in a little birdcage at home a long time ago.
Far away from all the men from the outside world. Keeping you guys to myself and preventing any potential risk."
Xiaoyun paused for a second, then continued walking towards the bathroom door.
"But I didn’t do that, and it’s for a good reason... I think I have a good eye when it comes to selecting my wives."
"You really put that much trust in us?"
"Leyan, you wait for twenty years for me to come back. Who else can I trust more in life?"
The answer made Leyan’s heart skip for a second. But still, a concern remained as she looked over at her sleeping peers.
"How about them?"
This time, Xiaoyun didn’t answer right away. He hesistated. But he eventually gave an answer that he felt was satisfactory.
"I made a promise to treat everyone equally, so what do you think?"
"I don’t know what you think."
Leyan’s answer annoyed Xiaoyun a little. Still, he turned back around as he gave his answer straight to her face.
"I trust every single one of them as much as you... I hope you don’t find that annoying, even if they didn’t earn it."
Before she could say anything back, Xiaoyun had already gone into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
"Dummy..."
---
A few hours later...
As Xiaoyun sat in his car, he was already in his suit. But rather than being in his typical SUV, it was a whole minivan.
A Sienna that had more than enough space to seat 8 people at once.
Why did he need so much space? Because all of his wives were in the car, all wearing different-colored dresses.
Not a single one of them wore white, avoiding an accidental clash, as they already knew what color the brides were wearing.
"Are we there yet?"
Nami complained as she fixed up her shoulder strap, only to have it slowly slide down to the side.

"Five minutes."
"Nami, you’re going to break it if you keep pulling it up... Don’t say I didn’t warn you when your dress falls off completely."
While Leyan’s warning made Nami stop, the rest of the girls looked uneasy, as if they were a little nervous for the wedding.
Being a bridesmaid was a thing they had never done before, especially being a bridesmaid who was already married to the groom.
"Leyan, can I just stay home?" Tianci asked as she started to regret getting in the car in the first place.
"Not happening, and it’s too late."
After driving for five minutes, the minivan finally came to a stop as Xiaoyun pressed the brake.
"Okay, we’re here."
Nami immediately pressed the open button, only to find it stuck because the car door hadn’t been unlocked yet.
"Open the door, I-I really need to go to the bathroom."
"Let me find a parking spot first."
With a few swift turns, the minivan stopped completely as the locks opened, allowing everyone to leave the car.
"Finally, some fresh air," Wuli murmured as she stretched her arms into the cold breeze running over her.
"Where even are we?"
Kate asked as she looked around, only to find themselves at the dead end of what seemed to be an abandoned town.
There were already hundreds of cars nearly filling up the entire street parking, with wooden log cabins everywhere.
"We’re still in Luoping. Just one of the splinters between Luoping and Guangzhou... Anyway, the wedding should be a few steps ahead."
Walking down the road, the familiar soon hit Wuli and Shuli the hardest as they instantly recognized a nearby building.
"Nami, there’s the bathroom you’re looking for."
"Thanks!"
As she ran ahead of everyone towards the building, everyone got a little curious about how they were able to know without labels.
"How do you know that’s a bathroom?" Anna asked curiously.
"Because we used to live nearby. A few blocks down from here is where we used to live after arriving at Luoping."
Wuli paused for a second as she looked over to Shuli, whose eyes were zoning out as if she was thinking of something.
"We had to walk all the way to work when we missed the bus. It was straight up the worst nightmare possible."
"That thing also only drove out twice a day," Shuli quickly added.
"That does sound like a nightmare..." Anna murmured as she thought back to the distance between here and the old town center.
"Good thing we got his car to drive to work."
As Kate casually patted her on the shoulder, Anna quickly pushed it aside as her face mysteriously blushed.
"Let’s wait for Nami here—"
"Mom! Do you have any tissues? I forgot to bring them!"
"How clumsy can you be?"
Leyan quickly entered the bathroom while everyone waited outside. But soon, one of them grew a little curious.
"What does the old bathroom look like?" Tianci suddenly asked.
"You can go inside and check. But I don’t really recommend it unless you need to use it." Yuqi answered.
Curiosity overwhelmed Tianci as she went inside to have a look. Meanwhile, Yueyue’s face suddenly started flushing.
"You okay?" Xiaoyun asked, noticing the change.
"I-I’m fine."
Yueyue didn’t elaborate any further. The redness on her face remained as if she had thought of something embarrassing.
"Yueyue, you sure you’re fine?" Yuqi asked this time.
"I’m really fine."
Despite Yueyue’s attempt to remain calm, the reason was soon revealed as both Kate and Anna suddenly thought back to something.
A familiar thing that happened in a public bathroom long, long ago. One that matched Yueyue’s voice after being in the family.
"Hey Yueyue, are you embarrassed because you and Xiaoyun—"
"Shut up!"
As Yueyue desperately covered Kate’s mouth with her hands, it made everyone curious. But they were cut off from asking.
"What are you guys talking about?" Leyan curiously asked as the three of them emerged from the bathroom.
"Nothing. Let’s go to the wedding."
Yueyue quickly changed the topic as they finally resumed walking towards the dead end ahead of them.
"Xiaoyun, can you help me wash my hands?" Nami requested.
"Sure."
Water suddenly appeared from thin air, before falling straight onto Nami’s hand, making a small splash.
"Thanks."
"Wait, when can you do that?" Wuli asked in a shocked voice as she couldn’t believe what just happened.
"You’ve seen me fill up a bowl of rice without making the bowl before... It’s just more convenient in most cases to make a water bottle instead."
"I never thought of that..."
After walking for a bit, the eight of them finally arrived where the wedding was going to take place.
A long, massive grassy field, with a wedding arch in the middle and a bunch of seats and tables all over the place they could see.
Tens, if not hundreds, of cameras were recording, with armed police officers in plain clothes standing far in the distance, out of camera view.
"Maybe it was a bad idea to have this wedding be recorded..." Leyan murmured as she started to feel frightened by it.
"Too late now... Nami, what are you doing?"
Xiaoyun asked as he watched her take out her phone before seemingly starting to record, not just taking a photo of their surroundings.
"Don’t worry about it... Hello, chat."
