Chapter 150: Eldest Sister
When she got close and tried to look closely, Ren moved faster than she could follow. He got behind her and placed his palm on her back. She froze. A kind of fear that she had never felt since her birth overtook her.
"You really thought you could defeat me inside my own body?" Ren asked. His tone was no longer the playful type that he always had, but rather something far heavier and filled with actual anger at her thought process.
"I feel disrespected by you and Ophelia."
As he said those words, bolts of lightning surged from his palm and, in one large shot, slammed into her body. She was hurled forward like a ragdoll, hitting the ground hard and rolling until she came to a stop. The pain she felt was immense as she lay on the ground.
"Mother... Mother’s plan must be completed," she groaned in pain and pushed herself to her feet slowly. She staggered forward a few times, coughed dark blood, and looked at Ren.
Ren stared right back at her, no smile, no smirk, just a cold expression. He ran his fingers through his hair and let out a deep breath. "Sometimes I think I play too much and allow everyone to forget that I am a dragon." He dropped his head and looked at her again. "When I am done with you, the next person will be Ophelia, your mother."
The moment he said that, she snapped.
Screeeeeeech
She dashed forward at full speed, each step almost like she was digging into the ground to try and move even faster. Her eyes burned with hatred.
She came in with the first right diagonal slash. Ren reacted cleanly, like it barely bothered him. Then he stepped to the side and looked at the clear opening where he could attack. He used gravity manipulation to blast that very part of her body.
BOOM
SPLAT!
Half of her body was ripped out.
Dark blood gushed out and melted into the floor. She collapsed to her knees, eyes wide open, the pain slowly gathering in her.
Ren watched. He did not attack anymore and simply watched her crumble under the effect of this attack.
"Ugh... moth... mother... I fai... failed."
She managed to get her last words out in that moment before she collapsed forward in a pool of blood right there, dead, her face still carrying the shock and regret.
At that same time, in the underground location of Ophelia, she sat on her throne with her legs crossed and eyes closed.
Suddenly, her eyes snapped open, and from her chest, a stream of blood flowed. Her eyes widened when she saw this. She knew what it meant. The connection to her most favored child had been destroyed, and that could only mean one thing.
Her child had died.
Ophelia gritted her teeth.
"Ren," she muttered in a deep and hatred-filled tone. "Hahaha." She let out a villainous cackle. "I knew you would be an issue, but this large of an issue? I never expected it.
"You’ve crossed the line by killing my precious daughter. Sigh, I must not proceed with the third phase of things without her and you being in my ranks."
Despite the fact that she was heavy with rage, she still spoke as though she had everything under her full control. She believed that she did.
She snapped her fingers, and three figures appeared with their knees pressed into the ground and their heads bowed to her.
"Greetings, Mother."
The three figures were two females and one male humanoid spider. One with silver hair, the other with purple hair, and the male with black hair.
"It seems your youngest sister has been killed," she started. "The plans have turned out to be harder than expected because of one Dragon."
"Do you wish for us to kill this dragon, Mother?" the male asked.
"Yes, tell us, Mother, and we will get the job done as fast as possible. He will not live to see another day," the silver-haired one responded.
"Whatever he has done to our sister, we will give to him a hundredfold and ensure that he begs for death," the last said.
"No."
She looked at them with stern eyes. "This dragon is beyond you. He would kill you as you are now.
"My mission for all of you is simple, and that is to begin phase three. More and more of our spiders have left the towns and have now gone deeper into the kingdom of Vermilion.
"Vermilion will know about our plans soon, and so we must act fast and ensure that we get it done faster. You must head into the kingdom and spread yourselves, and when you are there, you must begin to turn more humans into hosts for your siblings.
"You must also consume as much as you can and grow stronger, because when phase four starts, the kingdom will fall, and your mother will become a deity that will take our entire family to the peak of all existence."
"We understand, Mother. We will do as you have asked," the male said and then looked up. "But Mother, what if eldest sister? What do you plan to have her do?"
"Your eldest sister? She will not engage in things like this. She has a special role that you do not need to worry about. When it’s time, she will come out, and when she does, we will have victory for sure."
"Mother, Eldest Sister knows no restraint. Are you sure you can hand a task that’s great to her? She is indeed the strongest, but also crazy," the silver-haired one said with worry in her eyes.
"That’s enough. Your sister is perfect as she is. She is created in the way I needed, and she is crucial to my plan. Now leave," she commanded.
They all nodded and immediately vanished in seconds, leaving Ophelia there.
"Next time, do not try to kill your siblings when I’m here, Elanor. You are the one causing them fear."
"Tch, yes, Mother," a voice replied from nowhere.
