Chapter 149: Venom
Ren looked at the spider. "You can choose to leave or make me force you out," he spoke in a clear tone to ensure that he got his point across.
The spider reacted by raising both her hands and slashing in the air. Two invisible air blades shot out, cutting through the air and heading for Ren. Ren sensed the incoming attack. He leaped and spun in the air while wrapping himself with his wings. The blades passed above and below him.
He landed on the ground in a superhero pose, eyes locked ahead on her already. He pressed his foot hard against the ground and launched fast, his wings flapping and propelling himself faster.
She planted her foot into the ground and slashed with both hands to get Ren when he got into range. Ren flapped hard and banked up, dodging the attack and going into the air. He flipped in the air and used the back of his heel to slam into her head.
BAM
She went headfirst and almost slammed into the ground, but she stabbed her hands into the ground and stopped herself from reaching down. Ren flipped and landed back while looking at her.
’Seems she has quite a bit of strength.’
She raised her head and looked at him with a gaze filled with rage, her feet pressed hard against the ground as he attacked. Slashing with her right diagonally, Ren weaved the attack and kept his eyes on the left as it came. He slipped under it and then stepped in to grab her where it was safe to hold. He pulled her in, spun, and kicked her right in the side, sending her flying back.
She stabbed her sharp limbs into the floor. It cut deep and braked her from moving further back. She opened her mouth and then spat out a ball of venom. Each one was fast and heading for him. Ren weaved the first one by leaning to the left. He dashed forward and closed the distance between them fast. She shot out more even as he dodged and evaded all.
Seeing that she could not hit him, she resorted to a diffuser attack and went for a sweep splash, swinging her head side to side and pouring the venom out like some jet-powered pump. It got everywhere, drips and chunks of it in the air, blocking every part to her.
Ren did not stop his drive. He let out a primordial roar. The sonic force slammed into the venom and threw it all back, creating the space that he needed. He crossed the distance fast and came with a knee to the head, but she blocked it by crossing her limbs.
BAM!
The force of the attack pushed her back a few feet. Ren landed on the ground and still went in for more. She slashed with both hands downward. He sidestepped and cleared the attack before reaching for her. She reacted fast and leaned back while her left hand was already coming with a slash.
His eyes watched the attack without leaving her face. He leaned back.
WHOOSH!
She did not push the attack after that and very quickly retreated to put some space between them.
"I’ll not allow you to destroy the plans of Mother," she yelled and then crossed her limbs. She pulled in all the energy that she could. A red line glowed along her limbs and onto the saw-like serrations. She gritted her sharp teeth and then stepped in hard before unleashing a barrage of attacks, each slash coming with a ton of power.
Blood-red blade arcs ripped through the air, creating a mesh that was near impossible to dodge.
"Shit," Ren cursed as he moved to react. He could already tell that what he could do in this space was very limited and as such, he could not use everything that he wanted to. He would need to get extremely innovative here if he wanted to get out alive.
"Sigh, everyone is just pushing me out of my comfort zone today. When I am done with this, I’ll need a full month’s rest."
He countered with his own slashes, claw strikes, each one larger than the last. He put everything into each one and made sure it targeted one of the incoming attacks. The collisions in the air sounded like explosions. Both parties continued attacking with their own attacks.
Ren stared at her with a smug expression, and she looked at him with hate, hate for the fact that he was trying his best to destroy what her mother was creating. There was no mercy for such a sin.
They kept going until a chain reaction of explosions followed and then a massive one to end it all. When it died down, both of them stood at either side while still looking at each other.
Ren refused to move first. He watched her, waiting for where she would strike so that he could end this all at once. She also seemed to be waiting for him to make a move, but after so long and he did not move at all, she made the first attack. She pulled her hands into the air and stabbed down into the ground with all her strength.
Cracks ran through the ground and rushed toward Ren, but they did not seem like anything he would be bothered with. But that was when he noticed that her hand was flowing like something was getting pumped out of it. From the crevices of the cracks, her venom shot out from all around, trying to consume him right there.
He managed to react fast and flapped into the air, evading the venom. She locked onto him in the air and then spewed her venom from down like a spear, slamming right into his side and sending Ren collapsing into the ground with a ton of steam coming from his body. The sound of searing filled the air.
Her eyes shined when she saw him hit the ground. She rushed over to claim her victory.
