Chapter 129: Demigod
Ren looked at the figure standing there, his crimson eyes glowed for a moment, and then he opened his mouth. His chest increased in size, and a crimson glow showed through his underbelly.
WHOOSH!
He unleashed a flame breath, extremely powerful, larger than three humans stacked side by side, a massive stream that spread out as it moved through the air. The figure had no other choice but to use the barrier like it had been doing all the time.
The barrier was up before the flame reached, and the hope in the mind of the figure was that the barrier would hold against the flame and stop it.
The flames slammed into the barrier at full force. It covered the entire barrier as the heat immediately began to get through, an intensity that the figure did not expect to face. He gritted his teeth and did his best to hold on, but after a few seconds, the barrier shattered. The flame slammed into him directly with its burning intensity and chaos, hurling him several meters back. He slammed into the ground and rolled while still burning up in real time.
By the time Ren stopped the flames, the figure there was already fully damaged, and his entire cloak was almost burnt, but even then, he somehow managed to ensure that his face did not show at all. He slowly got up on his feet, staggering left to right, trying to recollect himself. He had poured all his mana into one last attack that he had expected to end Ren.
He looked up and saw Ren looking right at him with eyes that said it all. If he tried to play coy, he would suffer for it.
"Are you now willing to tell me where he is, or do you want to die first?" Ren asked.
The figure clicked his tongue and then spoke, "I never thought the gap between us would be so monumental and massive. Tch, regardless.
I will not push further where it has been made clear that I lose. I’ll hand your subordinate to you, but under one condition." The figure spoke.
"I’m not sure you are in the capacity to even set conditions," Ren replied calmly.
"Yes, I know that, but still, I have a condition. I’ll hand over your subordinate if you at least do a little to stop Ophelia and bring an end to her plans."
Ren looked at him for a few seconds and then transformed back into human form. "I thought we already established that I do not want to be a part of what is happening," Ren said.
"Tch, you are part of it, we all are, especially you. You amongst all are the most involved in this because you are a dragon.
Ophelia is trying to make an army to create tens of thousands of followers from her children, and when she manages to do this, she will use it to do something no one would expect."
"And what is that?" Ren asked.
"She will become a demigod. She will evolve to a demigod status on the lives of everyone that she has controlled, the stronger the life, the better, and you and all the forest lords will be taken as well. Your people will not be spared.
She will control you and use you to make herself even more powerful by becoming a demigod," the figure explained.
"Hmmm, a demigod? So that’s the plan? To use us all as a stepping stone?" Ren asked.
"If only that was where it stops. When she becomes a demigod, there will be no stopping her then. She will move to destroy all that stands in her way and level every resistance.
A demigod amongst humans is something that has happened once before in the history of this world, and it did not end well."
"You seem to have a ton of information about this stuff, for someone that seems to have their own agenda," Ren replied.
"I do have my own agenda, but it really is nothing of that grand scale, and you cannot stop mine unlike how you can stop hers. You would be better off chasing after her and not me."
"Cocky, you should watch your back when you leave here because you may not be safe for too long," Ren said.
"Hahaha, well, whatever the case might be, you now have an insight into what Ophelia is doing. She has completed her phase one and is moving onto the next. You managed to stop her from taking Raven Town, but a ton of towns have been taken as well, and now the spiders are hiding as humans and spreading deeper."
’Really? So Raven Town was not the only attack? I guess I should not have thought it was. Tch.’
"Why does this even concern me? She is doing what she wants with the humans. That’s for the humans to handle."
"Trust me, Dragon, you will get involved one way or the other, so the faster you get involved, the better, and help the humans stop the escalating issue before it becomes something that affects you heavily," the figure explained.
"Hmmm, and in the meantime, when all attention is on her, you will be walking around free and plotting whatever you want."
"Hahah, that’s the good part of having a patient plan. Who knows, maybe when you are all busy, I will find a way to snag the young lizard with potential and fine-tune him into my weapon that I very much need."
Ren frowned, staring right into the darkness underneath the mask of the figure.
"If you touch any of my subordinates, I’ll burn your flesh and bone into a smooth ash and throw it in every corner of the world that I can find. I promise you that."
The figure gave no response, simply waved his hands, and Silas, who was still unconscious, appeared under a black fog.
"That’s your wolf. Till we meet again, Dragon. I hope you’ll be ready for what I bring next time." He finished speaking and vanished.
