Chapter 127: I’ll show you pain

The two of them stood looking at each other. In that short time, they had established a basic understanding, and that was the fact that this battle would be one of their hardest.

"You really are something else, dragon, but it will not be enough for you."

Ren smiled as he heard that and spread his wings while his body leaned forward, knees bent slightly, and his eyes locked forward. He flapped his wings once and exploded forward like a rocket.

The figure saw Ren coming and moved a finger in front of him, pointing right at Ren. Then he fired a rapid succession of blasts.

Ren looked ahead, his eyes picking the exact location of every blast that was headed his way. The first one came in straight. His sword moved in a clean arc and slashed through it while moving in and to the side for the next one as it rushed past him, slammed into the ground, and caused an explosion.

Ren continued a clean movement of blocking and slashing through every attack with the grace of a cat. His wings managed to make him evade even the most difficult attacks, and he closed the distance rapidly.

The figure disliked this and pulled his second hand forward, all ten fingers extended and unleashing a far crazier barrage of blasts. Ren knew that there was no way he could evade all these, even if he flew into the air, so he decided to get far more creative.

He made fine use of gravity manipulation to pull a wall of earth out of the ground and then ran alongside the wall as he pulled more out. The blasts slammed into the wall and obliterated the parts they touched, but they were not fast enough to reach where Ren was before he had moved, and the wall gave him cover.

The figure expected Ren to burst out of the end of the wall. They raised their hand into the air, and a massive fireball formed over their hand, ready to commit to the attack, only for Ren to burst out of the dust at the other end where the attack had started, plant his foot into the ground, and unleash a primordial roar.

The blast ripped through the air like a vortex, slamming into the figure with explosive power that took him off his feet and hurled him back. He slammed through a large rock and continued his fall off the side of the mountain.

Ren flew after him fast and then slammed into him, grabbing him by the neck.

"I get it now. Your shield does not work when you have to activate another spell. There is a gap," Ren said with a smile.

BOOM!

The figure activated his shield again, and it slammed against Ren, hurling him back into the air, but he was unhindered. He unleashed a dragon’s breath at point-blank range. The flames slammed into the figure’s shield. The force threw the figure down, and after a few seconds, the shield yielded, and the intense flames began to scorch him.

The figure slammed into the ground hard but ignored the pain of the hit. He moved his finger and cast a water spell that caused him to be covered in water to combat the flames. When it was over, parts of the cloak were badly burnt.

Ren flew down, wanting to use the opportunity to attack, but the figure was not having it. He raised both hands, and sharp spikes of earth, like tentacles, shot out, each one eager to rip through Ren.

Ren weaved left with full strength and evaded the first spike. He slashed into it with Soul Eater, the sword cutting through it while he kept his eyes locked on the next spike. He pushed off the first and flew over the second and, at the same time, used his eyes to locate the exact position of the figure.

He stretched out his hands and then unleashed a barrage of Lightning Fall. It came down like a vortex. The figure saw the glow of the lightning and heard the crackle of it. He moved out of the way as fast as he could. The lightning slammed into the ground with explosive force that left a massive crater in the ground. The blast threw the figure right into a tree a small distance away.

Ren landed on the ground. He gripped his sword tight and looked at the figure.

"You will hand over what belongs to me, or I’ll make sure I break every bone in that body and rip them out one after the other," Ren said and lifted his sword. "I promise you that."

"Hahahaha." The figure rose to his feet. "You have the strength to back up what you say. But if you kill me now, how would you get your hands on the wolf that you so desire to save?"

"That’s a real issue, you see," Ren said and looked up, "but right now I can tell that my subordinate, Silas, is unconscious somewhere. The moment that he wakes up, I’ll be able to sense him, and if I do, I’ll be able to find him.

It might take me longer, but I will for sure.

So I do not need you to find him, but I want you to tell me where he is so I can find him much faster.

I’m sure you believe you can take pain, but what I will deliver will make you hate your existence and life," Ren said, and before the figure could even reply, he blasted forward.

He covered the distance and thrust his sword from over ten meters away. It travelled fast. The figure moved out of the way. The sword stabbed into the tree, which was then followed by a stream of lightning that travelled through it fast. It slammed into the tree and blew it into bits.

The figure flanked from the side and clapped his hands together before separating them slightly. A red energy ball formed at the center.
