Lia looked at the spear, and then she looked up. She saw Ezra dropping down from above. Ezra pulled her spear from the ground and rolled it a few times before stopping it at her back.

"Who are you?" Lia asked immediately as she struggled to her feet. She lifted her sword and pointed it at Ezra.

"That’s not the way you speak to someone that saved you," Ezra responded.

"Are you a monster? Is this part of the monster wave? You’ve come to help the spiders take us down, right?" Lia asked. Her stress was getting to her, and she was no longer thinking clearly at this point.

"What the hell are you saying?" Ezra asked.

Lia gritted her teeth and bolted forward. She leaped into the air, her sword erupted in green flames as she swung down with all her might.

"Arghhhhhhhh!"

She wanted to ensure that she ended this in one large slash. Ezra licked her tongue and rolled her spear before swinging it to block. Her spear erupted in flames.

BOOM

Flame met with flame in a massive collision that shook the air. Massive heat waves traveled in all directions, and both parties were thrown back a few feet.

Lia landed on the ground. She dug her sword into the ground to stop herself from moving back, while Ezra simply used her wings.

"Why are you attacking me?" Ezra asked.

"Shut up, monster!" Lia yelled and bolted with her sword at her side. She came in with a clean upward diagonal slash from her right side. Ezra tilted back and evaded the attack.

Ezra took a few steps back but did not counter, which gave Lia the space to retreat a step to gather speed. Then, charging in fast, she leaped hard off the ground, spun, and slashed. Ezra raised her spear and blocked the attack with only one hand. Her hands went numb from the force, and her entire body screamed in pain. She gritted her teeth and used her free hand to create three balls of metal.

She controlled the metal balls finely and used them to attack. The first one latched onto Lia’s hands, wrapping around both of them. The second wrapped around her feet, and the third slapped onto her face and covered her mouth.

Lia fell to the ground instantly. She immediately tried to struggle, but she was unable to break through the confines.

"Are all humans this hot-headed?" Ezra asked as she looked down at Lia.

Lia looked at her with eyes of burning hate. Her hate transcribed into flames, which exploded from her body before Ezra could react. The force broke the confines and sent Ezra flying. She slammed into a house hard and crashed into it.

Lia rose to her feet, breathing so heavily that it sounded like stones grinding against themselves. She was on her last legs now.

Ezra rose from the rubble, and the look on her face had changed.

"I’m done holding back," she said. She spread her wings, and with one flap she crossed the distance. Lia’s eyes widened. She could not react before the side of the spear slammed into her and hurled her through a building.

Huff huff

Ezra was breathing heavily while she looked at the building and waited for Lia to get up, and Lia did, staggering her way out of the building, her flames flickering and barely holding on. Both parties locked eyes with each other and decided to attack at the same time, rushing in fast, but as they swung their weapons,

BAM!

Someone grabbed both their attacks midair.

Stunned, they looked up, and there Remu was standing. He grabbed the spear and Lia’s wrist.

When Ezra saw who it was, she immediately backed down, whereas Lia was still seething.

"Calm down, lady. We are not here to hurt you," Remu said.

"You are monsters. You are part of this attack."

"No, they are not," Luna’s voice cut through the air as she arrived, still on the shoulder of Ragna. He helped her down.

"Luna?" Lia called her name.

"Luna is happy to see you, young mistress," Luna said with a smile.

Lia snatched her hand away from Remu and rushed to Luna. She threw her hands around her in a hug.

"Luna, where have you been? I thought you died or went missing."

"Luna was in the forest with the dragon. You could have asked Sir Leon. He knew where Luna was."

"Wait, what? In the forest with the dragon?" Lia asked. She pulled back and held Luna by the shoulders.

"Yes, Luna has been with the dragon, Sir Ren. These are Sir Ren’s people," she said while pointing at them. "They are here to help."

Lia turned to look at them, and only now did she realize that they had not attacked her. In fact, she was the one that had attacked Ezra after Ezra had saved her.

"I’m sorry," she said. "I just... I just got stressed out and was not thinking, and then I saw monsters. Wait, monsters." She looked up like she had a realization.

"Why would you help me? Why was Luna with you?"

"Our master will arrive here soon, and you can get to talk to him. For now, we will help you take down the infected.

Our master wants to strike a deal with the baron of the town, so when he arrives, can you take him there?" Remu asked.

"The baron? There is no baron anymore. I’m his daughter, and I have taken his position."

Remu saw the way she said that, and he knew that it would be best if he did not say anything else about that.

"Alright then. This might be a lot to handle, but when he comes, everything will make sense," Remu said and stepped back.

"Ragna, stay with Luna and the Baron, and we will go take down the rest of them."

Ragna nodded. Remu and Ezra flew into the air and left the three there.
