Chapter 2678: His Silent Guardianship (1)
Meimei immediately turned her head nervously to look around, noticing that many people’s gazes were fixed on the luxury car parked by the roadside, and her heart instantly jumped.
If Tingye got out to pick her up like this, should she acknowledge him or not?
Meimei stood there conflicted, frozen on the spot, unsure whether she should approach.
But after waiting for a while, no one got out of the car. The door was slightly ajar, seemingly for ventilation, but the car window was clearly already open.
Curious, Meimei noticed that most of the people had already left, and since she was just a stranger intern, it seemed like not many people paid attention to her. She quickly hugged the documents in her arms and dashed over.
Without hesitation, she opened the car door and got in.
"Tingye..."
As soon as Meimei spoke, she realized something was off!
There was no one in the passenger seat!
But she had clearly just seen a figure leaning against the window, did she imagine it?
She hurriedly turned her head to look towards the driver’s seat, "Mr. Yao, was there always just you in the car? I thought I saw Tingye sitting in the car just now."
"Do I look as handsome as Mr. Yao?" The person in the driver’s seat slowly turned around, his enchanting face under the dim light exuding a mesmerizing nobility.
Meimei’s eyes widened in shock, staring at the man in the vintage suit sitting in the driver’s seat.
"Tingye, how can it be you?"
"Weren’t you just looking for me?" Dan Tingye took off his sunglasses, his dark eyes unblinkingly fixed on her, greedily gazing at her charming face.
He knew she was concerned about others knowing about their relationship; the best way was not to appear in her work environment. But knowing she was so close to him, and he couldn’t go to her, drove him mad.
"Have you eaten?"
Dan Tingye reached out and pinched her cheek, seeing the evident fatigue on her face, his heart ached slightly.
How he wished to protect her under his wings, seeing her happily smiling by his side would be enough.
"I’ve eaten..." Meimei bit her lip.
"Hmm?" Dan Tingye raised an eyebrow; just that one word carried obvious displeasure.
"I had a sandwich earlier, but now I’m a bit hungry, how about we go for some late-night snacks?" Meimei blinked her big eyes, immediately changing her tune with a soft, coy tone like she was being coquettish.
"Okay."
Dan Tingye stared at her smiling face for a long time before withdrawing his hand and starting the car.
Having just moved to a new department and learning work she was entirely unfamiliar with, busy all day, Meimei started yawning uncontrollably as soon as she got in the car.
Her little head nodded, eventually leaning on Dan Tingye’s shoulder, and she fell asleep.
"Swoosh—"
The car smoothly stopped by the roadside. Dan Tingye looked up at the still-distant restaurant, then turned his head to glance at Meimei, already asleep on his shoulder.
How could he drive when she was like this?
"Why are you so stubborn?" Dan Tingye’s long fingers brushed over her cheek, his thin lips slightly moving.
Her personality had become more independent, no longer as timid as before, yet her understanding and empathy for others remained unchanged. She always thought of everyone around her but somehow forgot about herself.
Seeing the deep fatigue on her face, he couldn’t even bring himself to wake her up for a meal.
