Chapter 2679: His Silent Protection (2)
Finally, Dan Tingye dialed Yao’s number, asking him to come and drive, carefully placing her in the back seat and directly taking her back to the residential apartment.
She was truly exhausted. When he picked her up, she opened her eyes momentarily, but upon seeing him, she just gave a gentle smile and mumbled.
"Tingye, I dreamt about you again." Then her little head nestled into his arms and she fell back asleep.
This simple sentence nearly made Dan Tingye’s arm tremble, almost causing him to drop her.
Does she often dream about him like this?
So often that she’s grown accustomed to it?
Because of her unintentional dream-talk, Dan Tingye’s mind couldn’t settle for a long time. Gazing at her peaceful sleeping face, he held her tighter, almost pressing her into his body.
"Young master, we’ve arrived."
Yao parked the car at the entrance of the residential apartment and reported respectfully.
"The key is in her handbag, you go open the door." Dan Tingye instructed, then opened the car door, gently carried her out of the vehicle, and strode towards the apartment.
This was his first time seriously looking at her room after she returned.
She hadn’t been back long, yet the entire apartment looked cozy, and from the first glance, he felt dazed.
Especially surprising was that at her bedside, there was a photo of them from childhood.
In the photo, little Meimei sweetly stood beside him, her small hand tightly holding onto his sleeve, her small body almost pressed against him, while on the other side, Jiang Nan held her hand.
He remembered, this photo was taken on her first day of kindergarten.
Back then, she was bullied as soon as she arrived at kindergarten. The little one cried her eyes out and ran to his and Jiang Nan’s classroom, saying she wanted to go home, she didn’t like kindergarten.
Without a word, he and Jiang Nan took her back to the classroom and fiercely scolded the boy who bullied her, but instead of cheering her up, she cried even harder.
"Meimei, don’t cry. Brother is standing up for you, why are you crying?" Jiang Nan had looked at her, bewildered, as she was about to cry her heart out, truly about to kneel.
She sniffled and sobbed for quite a while before she calmed down, her face covered in tears and snot, and said.
"I love brother, but mom said we can’t hit other kids. If you’re disobedient, you’ll get punished when you get home. I don’t want brother to get hit... Boohoo!"
She hadn’t finished speaking when she became a tearful mess again.
That sentence was deeply imprinted in their minds.
From that moment on, protecting her became an unspoken agreement between him and Jiang Nan.
Looking at this photo, many scenes from memory swiftly emerged in his mind, Tingye’s eyes grew darker.
He placed her on the bed, tucked her in, and instead of leaving immediately, sat by her bedside, watching her.
Until Yao reminded at the door, "Young master, it’s late."
"..."
Dan Tingye frowned slightly, leaned down to plant a kiss on her forehead, "Goodnight."
With a turn of his tall figure, he walked out of the room.
"What is this?" Dan Tingye glanced at the files on the table, stepped forward, and picked them up.
"Young master, these are Miss Meimei’s things. I saw them left in the car and brought them up for her. Seems like work notes." Yao answered respectfully.
