Even though his words were full of worry, they turned into a scolding when he spoke.

What was wrong with him? She was already scared enough being lost alone, and instead of comforting her, he ended up scolding her.

Meimei let him hold her in his embrace, and instead of crying after being scolded, she sweetly smiled, "Tingye, how did you find me?"

Dan Tingye explained calmly and took her hand, leading her out.
It was very dark, and the forest was so quiet that, besides their footsteps, they could also hear each other’s breathing.
When they reached a slightly open area, Meimei suddenly exclaimed.

Meimei pouted, not in a hurry to move forward. She simply sat down on the grass and stared at the night sky above.
"Anyways, I’m clumsy, but as long as you’re smart, that’s enough. Let’s just sit here for a while and go out later."

Dan Tingye looked down, observing her serene little face, and after a few seconds of silence, he sat cross-legged beside her.
She watched the stars in the sky; he watched her.
A few minutes later, Dan Tingye’s eyes glimmered. He placed his phone beside him, sent a message to Yao from an angle she couldn’t see, and then removed the SIM card, playfully fiddled with it before reinstalling it.
"It’s getting late, we should head back, or Jiang Nan will worry when he can’t find us." Meimei lay there for a bit, yawning sleepily before getting up from the grass.
She dusted off her bottom and prepared to move forward.
"Tingye, what’s wrong?" Meimei looked puzzled at Dan Tingye, who was sitting still on the grass.
Dan Tingye narrowed his dark eyes and said casually, "I think I forgot the way back."
"What?"
Meimei was startled and immediately asked, "Then what about the phone? We could call Jiang Nan to bring people to get us."
"The phone seems to have no signal."
