48 Hours a Day

Chapter 64 Welcome to the Mannheim Defense Line (6)

Zhang Heng and the masked snipers on the ground were patient.

As far as hunters are concerned, the latter are undoubtedly better. Zhang Heng once read in the literature of future generations that many Finnish guerrillas in the winter war were from hunters. They hunted in this forest from a young age and performed well when the target changed from a beast to a Soviet soldier.

Unfortunately, this is not a fair game.

When the crow in the darkness reappeared, it was all over.

Zhang Heng put his finger on the trigger and was finally ready, but the next moment the masked sniper suddenly made a side flip without warning.

Zhang Heng was stunned. He thought he had been spotted for a moment because he could not hear his voice.

And then he saw the bullets pouring over the snow.

The masked sniper reacted quickly, avoiding the first attack, and immediately turned the muzzle and pulled the trigger.

At this point, another drawback of the shadow state is exposed, because the sunlight is slanted from one direction, causing Zhang Heng's shadow direction to be fixed. Although he can observe the surrounding conditions by printing himself on the tree, he can only see one side, even if he turns his body only to see the bark on the other side.

So now he can only roughly guess by the circumstances, it should have been the sound of the exchange of fire that attracted nearby Soviet soldiers, but he doesn't know exactly how many people are there and how far away they are.

And more importantly, his shadow state is about to reach its deadline, leaving him less than the last ten seconds.

Zhang Heng also couldn't take care of the masked sniper for the time being. He had to make sure that he was not sandwiched by the two waves, so he decided to leave the birch and bypass the masked sniper at the fastest speed and stick it on the other cedar tree behind the latter.

Zhang Heng didn't want to run any further, his time was still there, but he knew very well that these two people were fighting each other. If the Soviets win, he still has the possibility to run away, but if the masked sniper wins, he has no chance of escape at all.

Instead of being shot like a prey, Zhang Heng picked a spot just under a meter away from the masked sniper.

Even Zhang Heng's newcomers who have just touched the gun have a good chance of not shooting.

Four seconds later, his body reappeared, and the battle on the other side had entered the white-hot phase.

The dangling bullets fell on the cedar tree behind him, and the wood chips splattered, obviously much more fierce than the previous reconnaissance team.

With the strength of a masked sniper, Zhang Heng believed that he would not leave the machine gunner unattended. However, there are still machine guns shooting, which can only indicate that a machine gunner on the Soviet soldier's side is dead and someone will be on top of him.

But the masked sniper also found shelter again, and he only fired one shot back at a time, but every time he fired, he could kill an enemy, which was incredible.

Zhang Heng tried to control his breath, hid behind the tree, and avoid being spotted by both warring parties.

After another round of shooting, the Soviet soldier's fire finally weakened until it was getting thinner, but the masked sniper's shooting rhythm was steady and horrible, with no change from beginning to end, as if it were a killing machine without any emotions.

And yet this sophisticated machine suddenly stuck at some point.

Zhang Heng knew that the other party was out of bullets. This guy had been through two intense battles in a short period of time. He probably had other battles before coming. The supply on his body was already low, so he finally ran out of food.

This also complicated Zhang Heng's mood. Of course he didn't want such a horrible sniper wandering around the woods all day, but in his original imagination, the battle would have two consequences, either the masked sniper was shot by those Soviet soldiers, he would do whatever it took to pull his legs, fight his luck, or the masked sniper would kill all those Soviet soldiers, and he would go out and kill each other while he wasn't ready.

Without considering the first drain of the other party's bullets, the Soviet soldiers would surely approach this side, and the hiding place he chose was too close to the masked sniper. It was fair to say during the fighting that neither side could keep an eye on the surrounding area, but when the fighting ended or the masked sniper was ready to flee, he would be found.

…………

Finnish guerrillas are now leaning back against a rock, not knowing what to think, and he should have realized that he was probably not going to survive today, pulling out a little hunting knife in his waist to prepare for his last fight.

That's when a little rock rolled to his feet.

Then he saw the cedar tree, not far from him, and suddenly a Soviet soldier emerged. He couldn't help but notice that the enemy had touched behind him and subconsciously wanted to pick up the rifle beside him.

The next moment, however, the other party made a silent move at him.

Just half a minute ago, Zhang Heng suddenly realized that this might also be an opportunity for him. After four days of trying, he had realized that it was impossible to want to live alone in this forest. After all, he and the Soviets were good and the Finns were good, but there was no irreconcilable contradiction.

But neither the young Soviet machine gunman he had met before, nor the Finnish guerrillas in front of him now, would normally give him an opportunity to clarify his misunderstandings. If one sentence was inconsistent, he would have to draw a gun, even if the language of the two countries was Zhang Heng Heng.

However, now that the guy across the street is out of bullets, Zhang Hengdun feels he can take this opportunity to communicate.

He pointed at the red five stars on his cuffs, pointed at himself again, and waved his hand, indicating that he had nothing to do with the Soviets.

As a result, the masked sniper across the street did not respond.

Zhang Heng then took off his Soviet uniform and revealed the black down jacket and jeans below, but the masked sniper's eyes eventually fell on the revolver he had stuck in his pocket.

Zhang Heng knew that there was not much time left for the two of them. He could already hear the footsteps of the Soviet soldiers. Obviously there was more than one of them. He couldn't handle it, so he could only bet one hand.

Zhang Heng grabbed the wooden carving again and remained vigilant, throwing the revolver gun in his pocket at the masked sniper opposite him. This time, the latter finally reacted, picking up the weapon quickly, pointing it at someone, and finally moved the gun again a moment later.

Zhang Heng was relieved, so it didn't seem that the actions he had just taken didn't help at all, then he took out his phone. These days he was trying to save as much power as possible, except to turn it on when he needed to identify the direction, it was usually off, now set the alarm, throw the phone.

Three seconds later, the bell rang in the snow, immediately attracting the fire of the Soviet soldiers, and the masked sniper took the opportunity to probe half his head. Pull the trigger, the first shot is an empty bomb.

Even Adventure Zhang Heng minimizes the risk. Considering the possibility that the other party will give him a shot after he gets the gun, he adjusts the position of the bullet in advance and points one of the two shells without a warhead at the barrel, so that once the worst happens, he can use the last chance to turn into a shadow to escape.

The masked sniper stunned, but soon fired a second shot, this time directly hitting the target's eyebrows.
