48 Hours a Day

Chapter 63: Welcome to the Mannheim Defense Line (5)

Zhang Heng was ready to enter the shadow state, but the next moment the deadly gunshot sounded again.

The Soviet soldier, who walked in front of him, leaned back in his head and fell to the ground without a sign, then paused for about a second, and his companion fell in the same position, lying still on the ground.

The remaining five Soviet soldiers immediately fell on the ground, panicked to raise the rifle in their hands and fired back indiscriminately, while the two people approaching Zhang Heng's side hurried back to support their dangerous comrades, for a moment, the gunshots in the forest made a sound.

Unfortunately, however, this powerless resistance does not prevent the coming of the Reaper.

Hidden snipers used the enemy's time to hide in the bunker to quietly change positions, and all the bullets of those Soviet soldiers, without exception, were empty.

Until three more fell, the last two Soviet soldiers could no longer withstand such mental pressure, threw away the weapon in their hands, filled the gap with bullets across the street and turned to run for their lives in the woods.

The furthest of them escaped about 150 meters, but unfortunately this distance was not enough to save his life.

When the gunshot went off, he also fell into the snow, and the blood stained his back of his head.

In less than four minutes, all eleven Soviet soldiers were killed in this cold and strange land.

And the sniper hiding in the dark didn't waste another bullet.

Zhang Heng dropped everything in the canvas backpack after the breakage, picked up a branch from the side and tried to send a signal of surrender to the other side, but the backpack was raised half way up and hit by a bullet.

But this is enough to illustrate the attitude of the sniper, who obviously has no intention of letting go of any living creatures in the forest.

Zhang Heng's guess was most likely due to the misunderstanding caused by the Soviet uniform on his body. Unfortunately, the language between the two sides was incomprehensible and he did not even have a chance to explain it at this time.

The shooting was not intended to save him, but only because the Soviet soldiers were moving around when confronting him to create the best shot.

This is a horrible person who is incredibly sober and confident in the order in which he selects his targets, firstly kills the most threatening machine gunmen, then solves those who want to pick up guns, uses serial kills to suppress the already chilly Soviet reconnaissance team, then replaces the bullets and sniper points, and callously completes the next round of harvest.

Faced with two deserters who had completely lost their will, he had no intention of stopping. Instead of choosing his nearest target, he had first shot the Soviet soldiers who were at the forefront of him before targeting those who were slightly behind him.

As for Zhang Heng, who seemed the least threatening, he was naturally ranked last.

The whole process demonstrated not only his powerful shooting skills, but also his calmness and meticulousness.

Zhang Heng found himself in no better position than before, still wandering on the brink of death, except that the enemy had changed from the Soviet army to the Finnish guerrillas, and from the results of the previous confrontations between the two sides, the latter were clearly stronger, as the seven-point corpse was the best proof.

This depletion will only be more and more detrimental to him. The other side of the forest is far more familiar to him. It is possible to go around his side at any time. Zhang Heng did not wait any longer. He grabbed the wooden carving with one hand and pulled out the revolver pistol with one hand. He thought of the crow in his heart.

The next moment, the crow standing in the dark slowly opened its eyes.

Zhang Heng shook his body violently as he looked at it, and then felt his soul sucked into a dark black vortex.

He kept falling in the vortex, but strangely, his body became lighter and lighter until he turned into a feather and landed on the ground, and he opened his eyes and saw the birch trees and the snow on the branches above his head.

Although there has been one experience, it is still a little strange to get back into this state.

Zhang Heng's body had completely disappeared after the tree was broken, leaving only a faint shadow on the ground. In this state, he had lost all physiological reactions, could not speak, and could not hear any sound. The angle of view was limited to a small piece of sky above his head.

But after previous experiments, he had a way to solve the problem, so he could see what was going on around him just by looking for a tree to print the shadow on.

Although his speed is somewhat diminished when he becomes a shadow, he does not move very slowly because he does not feel tired and does not need to consider the obstacles on the road.

It took him less than 50 seconds to get to where the gunshot came from and another 20 seconds to find the sniper point, where the ground was slightly higher than the surrounding area, the field of view was wide open, two rocks could be used as shelters, and the snow in the back clearly showed signs of body pressure.

But the ghostly sniper had apparently abandoned this place and moved to another place. However, this time with footprints on the snow, Zhang Heng had changed from a prey to a hunter.

Another half-minute later, the shadow on the birch tree found a slow-moving 'object' in the snow, and it was really hard to detect its existence without careful observation.

This is a Finnish guerrilla in a white disguise, with a white mask on his face, wrapped tight and solid, with only one pair of eyes exposed, perfectly integrated with the whole snow, holding his rifle in one hand, holding a pair of skis in one hand, similar to what Zhang Heng had previously thought, who should seem to want to go around to the side to end the battle.

However, he probably wouldn't have dreamed of hiding behind him right now.

These ghostly Finnish guerrillas brought a nightmarish experience to the Soviet Army during the winter war, attacking weary Soviet fighters day and night with great disguise and mobility, yet this time their proud advantage was challenged.

Only Shadow Zhang Heng can move in a straight line, while not making a sound at all, plus the nearby tree shadow as cover, he touches the masked sniper, who has no sense whatsoever.

Zhang Heng raised the revolver gun in his hand and pointed it at the target's head. There are only a few seconds left before the shadow state is lifted. Once it reaches the time, he can regain his body. Just pull the trigger to solve the problem.

This was Zhang Heng's first murder, he hesitated a little, but reason told him that he didn't have a second option right now. With the other party's horrible shooting method and familiarity with the terrain nearby, even if he ran for three minutes first, he wouldn't have escaped.
