48 Hours a Day

Chapter 247: The Real Enemy

Zhang Heng and Karina, after leaving the Heyman Estate, and Billy and others, deduced the next steps after receiving the letter, including working with Eugene, rapidly spreading the news within the Black Merchants Union, gaining wider support on the island, and so on, where Raymond's attitude will undoubtedly be crucial.

As the nominal president of the Black Business Union and the most prestigious black market businessman, the latter's actions have important implications for all other black market businessmen.

However, it was not easy to convince Raymond of his determination to deal with Malcolm, who, after all, was old and difficult to manage again, and without Malcolm, the Black Business Coalition would most likely not be able to operate.

But the good news is, unlike Malcolm, Raymond has not been so ambitious, and he himself has not been so hostile to Karina and the latter's second-hand cargo exchange. Zhang Heng had two cards, one was the friendship between Raymond and Normand. Almost the whole of Nassau knew that only Raymond was still behind Normand in the black merchants' league at the most difficult time. Against this background, Malcolm's initial false accusations against Normand were exploded, and Raymond could hardly ignore them.

Another card is Malcolm's covert sponsorship of his son-in-law's political enemies behind Raymond's back, coupled with a previous dispute between the two of them, and a great deal of certainty that Raymond could be won over.

…………

By the end of the discussion, it was almost dawn.

Karina returned to her place of residence, washed herself briefly, prepared to take a nap and recovered a little spirituality, but soon after lying down, a carriage appeared outside her door.

Someone knocked on her door, and then the businesswoman heard an argument downstairs, and Karina had to get dressed again and go downstairs.

She saw two new escorts hired a month ago pull out a short pistol between her waist and confront someone outside the door, looking like a big enemy.

“Your people don't seem to welcome me very much.” The visitor opened his mouth and removed the black gloves from his hand.

Karina saw someone outside the door change her face, “How dare you show up here after all you've done to me? I should have ordered them to shoot. ”

“Then why didn't you give the order? ”

The businesswoman was silent.

“Looks like you're still sober, knowing you can't stay on the island anymore if you kill me. Good, I like to deal with rational people.” The visitors whispered, "Since you're not going to let them shoot, should I be invited in next? ”

Karina didn't like it very much, just like the last time she was in a cafe, her aura was completely suppressed, Malcolm was absolutely proactive, and it was hard for her to refute what she said.

Reasonably speaking, there's nothing left to say between the two of them, and after tonight's victory, we'll know, but Karina herself doesn't know why, eventually she let herself go.

Malcolm walked proudly into the house, just as naturally as he had returned to his place, while Karina's two guards followed behind him, the businesswoman hesitated and finally let them go out first.

There are only Karina and Malcolm left in this room.

The latter pulled a chair, sat down and spoke straight, “I suggest a truce between us. ”

“Why, because you're losing it?” The businesswoman laughed.

Malcolm unexpectedly had no objection, “I did make a lot of mistakes, Sam. They went out on the ocean. I thought of two outcomes. First, they had to split that 5,000 pounds of gold together. Second, they had never been able to beat that Spanish treasure ship, and they had to withdraw Nassau. Neither of them could solve the dilemma you faced, but I had no idea that the Cold Raven could swallow more than half of the gold alone, and the Navy appearance was unplanned, but with a few lessons learned, you wouldn't really think it was just these accidents that made me lose the Bureau. ”

“Isn't that right? ”

“If my plan were to be strictly implemented, you wouldn't even make it back to the Cold Crow.” Malcolm faded.

“It turns out that the rulers of the Congregation for the Black Business are left with only such low-level means of intimidation. ”

“You have no idea who your real enemy is, do you?” Malcolm put his gloves on the table and leaned back against the chair.

“No, it's the only thing I've ever been sober about.” Karina sneered, "You let the pirates rob my freighter, let that son of a bitch Wilton humiliate me, murder my crew, put eyelids around me, let the black merchants block me, bully me with inexperience, lure me to overexpand...”

“These are normal commercial competitions, and you're also digging for the captain on my side, creating trouble for me all the time. I thought you enjoyed it. ”

“Enjoy?!” Karina laughed furiously, "You framed my father by despicable means, put him in jail, ruined my family and life, and now you come to me and tell me we're not enemies, which is the funniest joke I've ever heard in my life. ”

“I finally understand where your anger came from.” Malcolm raised his eyebrows, paused, and said again, "What would you think if I told you about your father's incarceration that had nothing to do with me from beginning to end? ”

“Oh, Mr. Malcolm, as an adversary I have had such a little respect for you, please don't let that only respect disappear. ”

“Unfortunately, I'm not joking.” Malcolm shook his head, "and I respected your father, although he and I differed in position, and I would defeat him mercilessly as an opponent and kick him out of Nassau, but I would not use such means, and I contacted the family the first time after his accident to ask them to investigate the matter, unfortunately it was difficult to find evidence, so in the end I had to find a way to get the family to contact Count Slaughter, invite him to dinner, and send him two more boxes of fine porcelain in exchange for finally opening his mouth and telling him who had asked him to frame your father. ”

“Who?”

“You won't believe it. He's been very close to your father. No, he's been very close to all the black market businessmen on the island. Now Raymond, president of the Black Business Federation, and this isn't the first time he's done this. I don't know if you've ever heard of Normand. He was Raymond's best friend. The breakup of the first Black Business Union and Raymond are inseparable. ”
