A Chronicle of Life in a Different World
Episode 67: Travel Part 5
Much of the moonlight is in the woods blocked by leaves. But it wasn't completely dark, and there was "the monster.”
The total length is a little less than three meters by sight. A bear monster whose body is covered with sturdy hair and has four arms as thick as a log.
Though I heard the screams and tried to rush, Reurus remembered the chills that had been going on for a long time for monsters who had grown their arms with bears that he had known in his previous life.
(When I get close, the magic is huge... and that four arms. How can you grow such an arm....)
I was afraid because I knew a creature called a bear in my previous life.
In the first place, a giant is just one weapon. It is not only heavy enough to simply crush a person, but it also has enough muscle to move that weight.
Bear monsters weigh a few hundred kilometers. If the weight increases its speed and hits it, it must be easy for humans and others to be hit.
"That's Orzo, right? It is classified as a lower to intermediate monster, but since it is adult in size, it will be intermediate and lower. They're attacking us... if we just judge them by their appearance, they're bandits."
Behind the clandestine Reurus, Zilba was observing the situation with calm.
Apparently, the bear monster is called Orzo, and the monster rank is intermediate and lower. Reurus thought that there was certainly a sense of intimidation that the junior monsters did not have.
Was it a territory of haunted bears around here, or did you encounter haunted bears with miserable bandits wandering around? I didn't know what was going on around here, but considering the side of the street, I think it's the latter.
"If we were talking about intermediate monsters, I didn't expect them to come from over there... no, I don't think Mr. Reurus would be able to guide us to the Great Spirit."
(I don't need that kind of guidance....)
Reurus that does not have the courage to use words, but only murmurs in the heart. If what we talked about is going to happen, it's going to be a fire dragon next time.
"... so what do you want to do? It looks like people were attacked when they were lurking away from the street without burning... Can you help?
I tried to distract myself from the story for a moment, but there was a shadow of people desperately running away from the Bear in front of me. There were about three of them, but there must have been more “original numbers” because of the smell of blood on the wind.
"That's right... I can't leave you like this, and I'll have to help you. However, if the target is a bandit, there is also a risk of an attack on us. Mr. Reurus can't stay away from Eliza, can he?
"If you need to fight without thinking about it later, it won't help you to fight normally...."
"Nuu... you can't deny it."
That's how Eliza inflated her cheeks, but as long as she "chants" and fights in preparation for a suicide bombing, there are few other ways to fight. Excellent as a monster avoider, but I don't know if it will lead to a bear.
The haunted bear is about 30 meters away, but there is no sign of escape even if it gets that close. Are you unaware of Eliza, are you obsessed with chasing the prey in front of you, or is Eliza's power not working in the first place?
Let's save the attackers for now. With that in mind, Reurus grabbed the big sword on his back and removed the cloth that covered his sword.
"Hmm... now, let me tell you a few thanks for bringing me here without the monster."
Then Gilba stepped forward to take control of Reurus. And when I picked up the pebble that fell beside me, I threw it at the bears and drew their awareness.
"When you become an intermediate or higher monster, you almost certainly use magic. It can be auxiliary magic or attribute magic, but Orzo uses flame magic."
Orzo was drawn to the pebble that hit his face, and turned his gaze toward Gilba.
"......? Gwaaaaa...!?
Then he turned his gaze to Eliza and to Reurus - and somehow he saw Eliza again in surprise.
(I just saw that bear twice....)
Apparently, even the lower-level monster would react in some way to Eliza. Still, the inferior monster stops running away and looks back at Zilba, who threw pebbles at him.
"Orzo is made of meat, fur, hands and liver. Especially the liver is said to be medicine, and the purchase price is also high. And it's not as delicious as the liver, but it's also bought at a high price."
Ignoring the gaze of the Bear, Gilba gave a "lecture” to Reurus and Eliza. For the first time in too much time, Reus was harassed, but did he think the Bear had been fooled? He stood up with two legs, shouting, and diverted his upper body large behind.
At the same time, the magic of the Bear is increasing. Guren's flame is created in a large open mouth, and the momentum increases as the magic increases.
Gahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
A huge fireball is thrown with roars echoing around. The fiery fireball was too big for one person to swallow and flew to Zilba in bright light.
--This is really bad.
Reurus, who held the great sword, reflexively leaned forward and tried to rush toward the ball of fire. There is a momentum and heat that could burn out if you hit a human directly, but I decided that I could be slaughtered myself.
"Thank you for your concern."
But Gilba moves ahead of Reurus. I thought I left a thank you note for Reurus, but he disappeared and stood in front of the fireball when I noticed.
"Hmm!
The approaching fireball stepped in without being an object, and the right fist was thrown, squeezing like a bow. Then, when the fist with the waist penetrated the fireball, it sprayed without exploding.
…………
Seeing the sight, Eliza leaned her neck with a neat face. I couldn't understand what had happened.
"Did you hit the flame and put it out? No, that was...."
The moment I fired my fist, for a moment, Reurus felt the magic of Gilba swell up. I suppose he used some kind of magic instead of "strengthening".
"... wind magic?
That's all I can think of when I blow out the flames. It was a revulsion to ask, but Gilba smiled with the fire powder.
"Oh, I meant to hide my magic... but I still have it. That was auxiliary magic."
"Auxiliary Magic!? Can you do that!?
What is auxiliary magic? Reurus, who remembers even such a question, shouted unintentionally.
"Yes, the Auxiliary Magic 'Deactivation'. You used your magic to dispel the opponent's magic. If there is a big difference in the amount of magic, it is fine to reduce it, but if there is magic of the order of Orzo, it can be completely eliminated. And..."
Leaving the words behind, Gilba disappears and Reurus opens his eyes to the speed. Zilba dived into the bear's pocket in less than a second and held her right fist as before.
Ugh!
The haunted bear also noticed that Jilba appeared in front of him and waved down his arm like a log.
The Bear's arm was covered in developed muscle and sturdy fur with sharp nails at the tip of his hand. The blow was heavy, and even a giant tree would be destroyed by a direct hit.
Zilba took the shot with her left arm. As a human being, Zilba was a huge giant, but twice as small as a haunted bear, and he took a haunted bear blow.
Zilba did not shake when the Bear struck. Instead, push it back with one left arm, forcing the Bear to collapse.
Zilba pushed back the haunted bear with two legs standing behind her. Once the balance had broken down, Zilba stepped back and stepped into the "empty gap”.
Thirty meters away is a tread so intense that it reaches the realuse's ears. At the same time, Jilba's fist was released, but against the momentum of stepping in, the fist only slightly penetrated into the body of the broken bear.
--Heavy and dull sounds like a hammer hitting a tire.
The moment Jilba's fist touched his torso, the body of the Bear waved loudly. Reurus didn't know what he was doing, but at least he didn't feel any magic.
"... you're kidding me, hey"
I don't know what Jilba did. Still, Reurus murmured when he saw a mayhem bear with a Jilba fist lying on his back.
"What? I didn't feel the magic right now... but did you also use auxiliary magic?
"I was using 'enhancement', but that's the kind of 'technology' that's left. Damaging the fur lowers the purchase price, so I destroyed the inside. Oh, of course I avoid the liver. I just destroyed my heart."
"Sorry, please explain in Comona."
There are no other words for Reurus, who welcomed Gilba with a single blow to the Bear. I understood what you were saying, but what you did was beyond understanding.
"I'll deal with Orzo later...."
When Gilba accepts Reurus's doubts, she turns to those who were attacked by the Bear.
Suddenly he appeared and killed the Bear with a single blow. Their gaze at Zilba was full of fear.
"You've been following us for three days, haven't you? Sometimes I felt my gaze."
Nicholas smiles and Zilba says. Neither Reurus nor Eliza noticed, but apparently they were followed for a long time.
"... why didn't you tell me?
"I was thinking of using this journey as a teaching material for Reurus and Eliza... not only monsters, but also human signs.
"I'll be careful in the future....."
It was a warning that even though magic detection was possible, others were neglected. The day I left Laval, I was taught how to identify my footprints, but they've been following me since then.
If Reurus and Eliza were traveling alone, they might have been surprised. Reurus now felt the danger of traveling and picked up Eliza and kicked the ground.
And after being freed from the fear of the Bear, he turns to those who are afraid of the pressure of Zilba. If I tried to escape, I was going to chop it off my back.
Gilba smiles at Reurus's judgment and looks at the bandits who have been following him for three days.
"Those behind you can defeat Kimira alone. Well, as you can see, I remember a little bit about my arm... and I advise you not to lie to me about the questions I'm going to ask you."
Kimira, who suffered many injuries as a result of Dominic's struggle, was defeated, but Zilba's tone sounded purely one-on-one. Convinced that it might still be convenient to threaten bandits, Reus watches what Gilba says.
"Why did you follow us?
"... every old man is an adventurer, but every young man and kid is a woman. I thought it would be money just to grab a girl's kid and sell it."
Jilba murmurs as if one of the bandits thought that she was discerning the purpose.
The average life expectancy in the world was unknown, but it seemed that Zilba, which appeared to be around forty years old, was included among the elderly. You thought the combination of Gilba, Reurus, and Eliza was a “goal” for a bandit.
"Now that you're surrounded, you understand that we're in control of the assassination?
"Ah... I ran into Orzo, he killed my people, and then he saved me... I won't resist."
If I had the power to defy Zilba here, I would have defeated the Bear. Without falling victim to bandits in the first place, I could be an adventurer.
Gilba nodded honestly to the bandits who spoke of their purpose. Then he checked the bandits' necks and opened his mouth with a gentle smile.
"Are you spirituals? Then I'll“ discipline ”you until you repent. If you are non-sectarian, you will protrude to the lord of this land. Besides, this is the edge of something. Depending on the charges, we will negotiate to avoid capital punishment as much as possible."
Some of the noisy words were mixed up, but Gilba showed priestly warmth. Reus was surprised that he could negotiate with the lord, but as far as he remembered his previous dealings with the regular army, it was likely to be that easy.
The bandits are looking at each other to see what Jilba has to say. If you were asked about your religion in this situation, you wouldn't normally be able to answer.
The bandits interacted silently. I wonder how best to answer this question from the standpoint only.
Gilba stretched her right hand to the tree that was growing next to her to prevent such bandits from communicating.
"It's just... if you're Gregorians..."
Zilba's fingers slowly swallow into the trunk of the tree he grabbed. The sound of the tree crushing and breaking echoes around you.
Gilba laughed ferociously at the bandits who gloated at the sound.
"With all the pain and suffering of the world, I'll make you feel sorry for being a member of Gregorianism and return you to the earth... now, answer me with all your heart.
The next day, the bandits were handed over to the regular army who passed through the street.
Although the soldiers leaned their necks in horror and exhaustion, Gilba caught them and told them that they were actually being followed and could have been attacked, they were tied up and transported with ropes.
Reurus told Gilba that he had come back to tell something to someone he thought was leading the regular army, and asked him if he was afraid.
"Um... Mr. Gilba? I complained about last night's threats....."
"Hahaha, of course I'm kidding. If you threaten like that, most people will get caught honestly."
I spent the whole night trapped by a haunted bear and a bandit, but it had such an impact that I was drowsy. Eliza is asleep beside Reurus because she has reached the limit of sleepiness, but at least Reurus is not comfortable sleeping.
(It's a lie... it's a lie... I meant it. If you were going to answer a Gregorian, you would have done something....)
Unexpectedly, he turned a suspicious gaze. Gilba smiled back at the sight of Reurus.
"Even if you're a Gregorian, the average believer only relies on Gregorian force. I'm not going to kill everyone because I'm a Gregorian."
"I'm scared when the word 'kill' comes out there... no, that's enough."
At least you're not going to get yourself killed. So desperately, Reurus looks down the street.
"I've had a lot of trouble... do you want to go?"
"Yes, we're late, but we'll be there by nightfall."
We were waiting for the regular army to pass because we couldn't afford to walk with the bandits, but we were late for that. Still, when I heard that I would arrive in Madalo by the end of the day, Reurus was in a good mood.
Shall we go?
"Yes... you're going to take care of that bear."
It was a Reurus holding up sleeping Eliza, but when I saw Gilba holding up the smashed bear I took out last night, I couldn't help but say so.
I was not willing to let go of my precious meat as a revulsion, but more than twice as big as myself, I was confronted with the appearance of Gilba lifting a bear of a certain size.
"I've bled out, and it's a waste if I don't carry it before it gets hurt by this heat... I'll make it a souvenir to Madalo's church."
(People in the church will be surprised....)
Everyone would be surprised if they made a whole bear a souvenir.
"It's impossible to do all of this, but would you like to take one piece of meat from your arm?
"Thank you!
Gilba didn't say anything about Reurus because she took care of it all by herself, but Gilba seemed to share the meat. It is a revus that forgets last night's tragedy just by hearing it.
And on the evening of the fourth day, we left Laval Waste City.
The Reurus finally arrived in Madalo.
