A Chronicle of Life in a Different World

Episode 106: The Search for Dwarves Part 3

In the back of the cave, Reurus and the others looked at each other with a voice echoing from the back of a small hole, whether Eliza or Sarah could pass easily.

"Hey... did you hear that?

"That sounds good... there's something inside."

"I didn't want to smoke more than I thought, but there was smoke in the back! I'm convinced!

My voice sounded echoing, so I don't know the exact distance. Nevertheless, there was no doubt that someone could be heard, and Reurus held the candle in his left hand and the dagger in his right hand to the back of the cave.

The tiny candle lights illuminated the same tiny holes that could never be dived in the Reurus. I don't know how much “road” goes on behind it, but the smoke flows in when I burn the bear.

Is it connected somewhere? No, maybe this cave is the “front door”....)

At least they can speak Comona. Reurus pushes his face into a small hole and screams as loudly as possible.

"Sorry! I'm hungry, so I'm holding a bear and baking it while it rains!

"Ahhh!? What's the situation, Temeye, you son of a bitch? Whoa! Stop running smoke, Gorah! It stinks of blood and oil!

When Reurus calls, his voice returns in a few seconds. Apparently there's something really in the hole. Whether it's deep in the hole or for another reason, I can feel the magic, but the reaction is rare.

"What do you do when you're busy with this shit!? Yakiniku out there, you're crazy! Come back here, motherfucker!

A yelling voice returns to the screaming Reurus. But when he heard the words, Reus leaned his neck.

(I can't believe you suspected me of being sane just by doing yakiniku... no, you didn't mess with anything?

I don't know who the Lord of Voices is, but he's mistaken for something - he thinks he knows Reurus or something.

"From this hole!?

"Where else do you think you're going? There's an entrance right in front of me. Where's the idiot!? Temee!?

That's what I was told, Reurus staring at the hole in front of me. I wonder if I could just take off my leather armor and other protective equipment and put down my big sword.

(No matter what you think, it's impossible. My head goes in, but my shoulders get caught....)

I think there were animals that could pass through the body if only the head could pass through, but what was it? Reurus screams as he thinks about it in one corner of his head.

"The hole is too small! Can I dig this hole and make it bigger!?

"How much meat did you eat!? You can't get in when you're hungry!? Oh, don't move! Smoke stinks. Let's just punch him!

When you hear such a voice, you start to hear something crawling through the hole. It sounded as if he was crawling forward, and Reurus fell back thinking he couldn't believe it.

"What? What? What's coming out?

"I wonder... if it's a dwarf."

While responding to Sarah's inquiry in the Call of Thought, Reurus lowered Eliza and Sarah to near the entrance to the cave. And he gave Eliza the candle, and Reus stood in front of them and put the dagger back into the sheath on the back of his waist.

I don't know what's coming out, but I've never been more careful. The cave is so wide that I stick a big sword in the immediate vicinity.

"Holy shit! What are you, stupid? I can't get through the aisle because I'm eating too much yakiniku!?

As the sound of crawling forward approached, you could hear a nasty voice.

"Let me see your stupid side! And let him hit you! It's not about tribal shame, Temeye, you son of a bitch!

Your voice is getting louder and louder. The loudness of the voice made the cave collapse a little uneasy, but the soil from the ceiling fell a little more sturdy than I thought.

"Yep, are you mistaken?

"That's right... ah, the heat source is approaching."

"And magic....."

After a minute of revulsion away from the hole in the back of the cave, something crawls out of the hole. The “thing”, illuminated by candles and fire lights, was manly and much smaller.

If it is judged by appearance alone, it is probably a man. Is he smaller than Eliza or Sarah and slightly more than 130 centimeters tall? However, because of their low height, they are muscular, and their arms and feet are short and thick, except for rough clothes made of linen-like cloth.

There is a white beard around my mouth, and because it is connected to the hair that I don't take care of, the whole face looks full of hair.

"Oh, you son of a bitch! Don't run away! Hit me until my face changes shape."

The little man who crawled out of the hole shouted loudly where the story of a single blow had gone. However, when I saw the faces of the Reurus, my face became real.

…………

…………

Both Reurus and the petite man gaze at each other silently.

Inside the hole - rather in the ground, the man is dirty with dirt. However, I felt the magic that I had felt so rarely before, and from that feeling, I realized that the man in front of me was not a human being.

(It's quite magical... but it's not human. I guess it's a dwarf if you just judge it by its appearance...)

The Reurus came looking for the dwarves, but they were worried about finding them. That being said, I didn't expect to find a monster like that in such a short time.

(No, you're not a monster, are you? I mean, like Eliza.)

"Hey, aren't you human!?

They were mutually silent, but they returned to me, and the dwarf-like man jumped out of his head into a little hole like a head sliding. Unable to stop the revulsion so quickly, the dwarf-like man disappeared into the hole.

"Hey, hey! Hold on a sec!

"Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! Somehow humans go to places like this! Besides, what was that noisy blonde kid in the back?

It is a realuse that chases in a hurry, but the hole is too small to get inside. Still, I tried to speak up, but the voice of a dwarf-like man kept moving away.

"Antadwarf, right? I've traveled so far to have my weapon made! There's just a girl in the back! It's not dangerous!

"You're lying, Temee! I don't know who's going to be fooled by those terrible signs!

Not only was he surprised by Reurus, a human being, but he also had some thoughts about Eliza. Reurus sighs with a small sigh in response to the magical reaction that quickly drifts away.

"There's no hostility here! Please, listen to me! I just want a weapon that can slay the Fire Dragon!

"Fire Dragon!? You're just crazy to think you're human! If you want to die, go to the Veos volcano and get eaten by the Fire Dragon! No matter how many dwarfs, they won't drop enough to crazy weaponize!

It's a loud revulsion, but the male-dwarfs don't get along.

"That firedragon just hit me with one shot! No, it doesn't matter now! Hey you! Can Dwarves use Fire Dragon Scales and Claws to make weapons!? Just tell me!

Is there anything interesting about it? Reurus shouted at the small hole, but the dwarf's reaction was cold.

"Uh-uh, you know what? Bokeh! I don't know how I got out of the woods, but I'm gonna miss it now! Get out of here!"

Last but not least, the signs of the dwarf disappeared completely.

"... so what do we do?

If I light the smoke again, I wonder if it won't come out.

An hour passed since I couldn't hear the dwarf. It was a revulsion that I called many times after that, but the dwarf never replied because he realized that the revulsions were human.

Earlier, the magic that was clearly felt is now completely gone, and it doesn't seem to get caught by Sarah's heat source detection.

"You think I'm going to shoot a flame? Maybe he'll jump out in a hurry?

"If you do that, you'll never be able to make a weapon for me, right? Don't do it, okay? Absolutely?

They told me to get out of here, but it's raining as hard as ever outside the cave. It's about time the sun went down. The dark outside world is dark, and it's only dangerous to go out in this situation.

Rain legs are as strong as ever, and rain is likely to enter the cave. Therefore, soil is placed in the entrance to prevent water from entering, but I don't know how long it will last.

Fire burned out firewood, so all we need is candle lighting. I have some spare parts to reveal overnight, but I am worried that there is only a small amount in less than two days. Had it continued to rain, we would have spent tomorrow without light.

In that case, we have to use Sarah's flame magic, which is the last resort. Of course, in order to secure the lights, we do not burn out the dwarf.

…………

That's how Reurus and Sarah interacted, but Eliza alone was slow to react. Apparently, the dwarf has endured what he thought was a "noisy opponent."

(I've never met a verbal intermediate monster before, but what do you mean Eliza has bad news? That's why the inferior monster avoided Eliza... so many more reasons to meet the dwarf than to have them build weapons.)

With that in mind, Reurus sat down behind Eliza on the ground. Then hold it from behind, turn your arms, and cover Eliza thoroughly.

"Never mind... But later, I'll pull you out of the nest and punch you."

"... yeah"

For Eliza, who was expelled from her hometown, where she was born and raised, called the "Monster," the Dwarf reaction earlier was close to trauma. It's hard to be reacted to like a Gregorian, but being afraid is like getting rid of Eliza's old scars.

However, when Reurus hugged her from behind, Eliza kept her in peace. Reurus gently stroked Eliza's head - the abandoned Sarah jumped in.

"Ahh! It's sloppy! I'll do it too! Good job!"

"Wap! Hey, what are you doing?

Do you want it to be okay, or did you try to comfort Eliza? Sarah embraces Eliza from the front and pairs with Reus to sandwich her like a sandwich.

"If you want to pull it out of the nest, you should burn it, right? Am I right? I'm going to be great! Shoot him with intermediate power and he'll pop out!

"So I told you not to... shoot me for a week, no, a month without a mess."

"You're going to die!? No, that one? Am I supposed to die without food? Hmm?"

Sarah leaned her neck laughing at what was so fun that she rubbed her cheeks against Eliza. Eliza, who was listening to the conversation, smiled without knowing it.

"... if you don't know, why don't you try it?

"Yeah? Ah, yeah! Eliza is smart... she's not smart! What if you try and die!? Spirits that die without a meal will be in history!? Spirits will also fall!?

It's Sarah who's making a lot of noise, but I appreciate the vibrancy now. I couldn't leave the dwarf alone, but Reurus laughed just now.

The day after dawn.

Although there was heavy rain yesterday, it gradually fell by dawn, and it was raining by the time Reurus and the others finished breakfast.

There were no monsters moving through the heavy rain, and the Reurus, who had sheltered in the cave, were able to rest there on guard.

However, even at dawn, the dwarf's voice does not echo from the back of the cave. With the air flowing through, there are probably other entrances leading to the dwarf's nest.

If you look for it, there may be a hidden entrance here and there, like a cave used for shelter in the rain.

"All right, you got nothing to forget? Let's start looking around here."

"I have to pick up firewood. I'll dry you even if it gets wet!

Hmm, let's go!

Either because he took the night off or because Reurus and Sarah were hugging him. Eliza smiled as she was full of energy.

Even if the air was fine, it would suffice to be bluffy. Reurus thought so and stepped out of the cave.

"... hmm?

I felt like the ground was shaking.

At the same time, it sounded like something would collapse from afar.
