A Chronicle of Life in a Different World
Episode 119: Disturbance Part 1
A field in a dwarf settlement. So Reurus worked in agriculture for the first time in several months.
Shake down the swallow borrowed from the dwarf and dig back into the soil from one end. The mulberry seemed to be handmade by Dwarf, and it was easier to dig back into the soil than the one Leurus used in Shena Village.
(I was using a wooden jar back then....)
Though I remembered my serf life in Shena Village, I immediately threw him out of my mind. The key is to be able to experience the Dwarf's skill in forging.
A great sword pierces the ground beside the Reurus, who carries out agricultural work in this way. Instead of the big sword, which was torn apart by Sarah's flames, he lent it to me as a temporary substitute.
Calvin said that it seemed to be of such quality that it was okay to crush it, but just by pretending, Reus was able to feel the high quality.
I didn't actually kill my enemies, but even if the Reurus waves with all his might, it won't break easily. However, the "magic letter" of "reinforcement" is not engraved on the sword, it is a “normal” weapon forged solely by Calvin's smithing technology.
The only ingredients used are dwarf refined iron, but the simplicity is what makes blacksmiths skilled.
Currently, Reurus uses many ingredients brought in to strike a great sword, but it is a Reurus that raises expectations even if it does not respond.
Such a revulsion, but I haven't asked Calvin much to make a sword for me. There are roughly three parts.
One is the shape of the weapon.
I want a large sword with a single blade that I am used to, and Calvin plans to make the length of the sword to suit the height of the Reurus and the length of his arm.
One is the robustness of the weapon.
Reurus wanted more robustness than sharpness. It has sharpness, but it will break quickly if it is not robust enough to prioritize sharpness.
I wanted a toughness that would not break even if the reuse was handled in a clutter, and that would not break a blade even if Sarah wrapped up the flame.
And one last thing is to reuse Dominic's great sword.
Dominic's big sword has fallen apart, but I wanted him to use this fragment. It can be a sword, it can be a pattern, it can be a sheath for anything. Anyway, I wanted a fragment of Dominic's Great Sword to be somehow "revived.”
It may be a waste of sentiment, but it is important to Reurus. Calvin was happy to accept it, hoping it would be okay in any way.
Hey, Reulsu
What?
Sarah receives a 'Call to Thought' when she is working on a 'busy day' farm. Reurus turned away and saw Sarah at the top of the mountain, not in the basin where the settlement was built.
Whether Sarah is used to handling "ideological calls," or because she has formally entered into a "contract," even if she is somewhat distant, her voice can be heard this way.
It's free... it's very free. I think I'm too busy to die. "
And if you miss the search, you're out of food.
Sarah is searching for the surrounding enemy. If Sarah is at the top of the mountain looking for a wide range of heat sources, she can prevent surprises even if there is an attack.
Reurus can only sense magic and has a narrow range of senses compared to Sarah, so Sarah left all the searches to Sarah.
Magic can be hidden by anyone who is good at handling, but no one can hide his body temperature.
Even if you hide it, it doesn't mean you simply need to lower your temperature. Sarah must always be at the same temperature as her surroundings in order to be able to dive past her heat source sensing, so even if her body temperature drops too low, Sarah will notice.
Himahimahima! I used to play in the house like Eliza!
"I'm not playing with Eliza... please don't lose your mind. If you fail, you die."
There's no sign of Eliza now. We're going to the blacksmith's with the dwarves, and we're trying to make a weapon just for Eliza.
--I want you to make your own weapon.
Eliza didn't stop Reurus from saying that.
Even with a sip of weapon, I'm not going to make anything that specializes in melee combat like the big sword that Reurus waves. Long-range weapons like bows are also out of the question.
Even if you can be hit by a stopped target, it will require considerable training, and if the monster is the opponent, you will not die where a few arrows are stuck. A strong bow that can be killed with a single hit can be tragic when you accidentally shoot a Reurus.
In the first place, Eliza is not suited for direct combat. Even though "Enhancement" can now be used in bloodsucking species, it is not as powerful as Dwarf Meer.
If Eliza's strengths are to be harnessed, she will have to craft a magical weapon. And among the materials that Reus and the others brought in, there was a suitable material.
Whether the weapon is a weapon or not, Eliza's weapon should be a magical instrument using "Jewels." There is also a "treasure ball" that makes lightning magic easier to use. There will be no way not to take advantage of it.
However, "Treasure Ball" seems to be a very valuable material from the dwarf's point of view, and there is confusion about who makes magic equipment. The cursing is at the beginning, and it has developed into a big fight between beatings and kicks.
Calvin seems to be particularly good at blacksmith skills, and he has no objection to training Reurus's sword. However, it seems that there are no outstanding experts on magic equipment, and many people ran for "If that's the case, I'll do it."
As a result, several dwarfs were planning to collaborate on Eliza's magic equipment.
Dwarf's cooperation... what an incredible masterpiece it smells like!
"Don't tell me... the thunder's 'jewels' were given to Eliza by Vanille. I'll leave the rest to the dwarves. Don't you want me to make you something?
Spirit of Fire, do I use magic tools using Fire's "Gems"? Then it would be quicker to use it alone!
I'll check and see if Sarah needs any kind of weapon. I'm in charge of searching for enemies because I don't need them yet, but I'm good at handling fires so easily that I can raise the firepower of the furnace. You won't need magic equipment.
Why don't you just give Eliza the "Jewel" of Fire? I don't use it anyway! Shall I give it to you now?
"... no, don't“ that ". Vanille gave you the Fire Jade. You don't have to use magic tools, so you should keep them with you."
It seems that Eliza has a lot to gain from Reurus entering into a formal "contract" with Sarah, but it's not the case that Eliza will use that benefit.
I would use Reurus whatever I could, but Eliza wouldn't be either.
(In Sarah's case, it's going to be an innocent wound.)
You'd better not let me do anything extra. However, even though Eliza has decided to make magic tools, she has yet to decide what shape to use. By now, you'll be holding your head.
But Reurus was not going to say anything on that point. It was Eliza who said that she wanted a weapon in whatever form. Thinking about “lately," Reurus decided it would be better for Eliza to build a weapon of her own will from scratch than to talk.
I have a weapon called the Great Sword together with Reurus, but I will not interfere with the production process. They are blacksmith professionals. It won't be good for amateurs to keep their mouths shut.
Speaking of Reurus, this is how we do our farming work. Since it will be lunch time in a little while, I think we should go down the mountain to find “ingredients” after lunch.
(Perhaps we need to be vigilant around here....)
I wish I had thought too much about Reurus, but it was possible that the Gregorians were leaping into this disturbance. Reurus is not as familiar with Gregorianism as Zilba, but I don't think it is prejudicial to think that it is strange to do anything.
"Reurus, Reurus, it's time for lunch!
That's how Reurus was working with Sarah on farming and searching for enemies, and Meer emerged from a hole in the dwarf's house. I have a smile full of fun and rush towards Reurus to wipe my sweat.
"I don't know... how are Calvin's grandpas?
"Dad's been working hard on iron. Everyone else is thrilled with Elizabeth's magic tools... but sometimes they hit each other."
Looks like a dwarf.
A day has passed since he returned to the dwarf settlement, but Calvin is shaking his head in front of the furnace. Now that she was working on iron, it seemed that Sarah's firepower was only going to be needed a little longer.
They eat very little, and shake their bowls as soon as they have only minimal hydration. There was a sense of intrigue, and the surrounding sound was so concentrated that I could not hear it.
"Everyone else is using the remaining material to make protective equipment, so I want you to show your face later. Come on, let's eat.
That's what Meer showed me, a basket knitted with vines. Inside was something culinary, and Reurus peered into the basket with great expectations and a little anxiety.
Inside the basket was “something” wrapped in leaves of large plants. In addition, there were two pottery bottles, but Reus decided it was probably water.
Lunch? Wow, I'll eat too!
As Reus talks to Meer, Sarah runs down the slope. I was worried about searching for enemies, but Reurus waved his hand in front of his face as he turned his eyes.
Daijō Daijō Daijō. I'm watching you! Specifically, the foothills are flawless!
"I mean, you don't know" The Lost Forest "... so if you eat this, you have to go check it out."
Thanks to Sarah, we are able to conduct a wide range of searches. That's why Reurus didn't say anything, and I thought I'd go check it out with my own feet.
"For now, I'm taking turns watching....."
"It could be bad. I don't trust Meer and the others, I just want to feel safe."
While saying so, Reurus reached out to Meer for lunch. “Something” wrapped in plant leaves was warm when I touched it with my hand.
…………
Reurus strips the leaves of the plant silently. Then, an elastic, fist-sized object with a light yellow color appeared from the inside.
(What is this... mochi?
I try to smell it, but there is no strange smell. Rather, it is a good smell to remember the slight fragrance.
"I'll take it... ahm"
If the smell is good or the taste is bad - it is a revulsion with such a concern, but the “deliciousness” spreads on the tongue to dispel the concern.
"Ah, delicious."
"Really? Not a lie?
"I don't lie about food... yeah, it feels rustic, but it's delicious. This is so cool."
In the vague memories of the previous life, for example, the texture and taste were like cakes made with potatoes and flour. The cake contains vegetables and some meat stir-fried with salt, and snackers are likely to be filled with just one meal.
Salt is the only condiment, but there is no problem as a reuse. The flavor of the ingredients is fully utilized and is about as delicious as the giant worms I ate the other day.
However, the difficulty was not quantitatively satisfactory.
"Delicious... I'll get you some water. Ngh!?
One, two, and a realuse that flattened the cooking like a mochi, but I stumbled on the pottery bottle with my mouth shut. I thought it was water and took a sip, but I felt a fever so intense that I thought my throat would burn.
"Nh, gu, no, what is this? Alcohol?"
Simple heat would have helped Sarah's "protection," but it was a thick alcohol that burned Reurus' throat. I have drunk alcohol several times in this world, but I have never had such an intense alcohol.
"What? That? Me, it was water that I put in... wow! It's true! I wonder if someone switched... or who did this..."
After seeing the reaction of Reurus, Meer turned to her face and smelled the smell from the mouth of the bottle. And I felt the smell of alcohol and frowned.
"Ah... but if you think it's alcohol, you'll cum. It's a little tight, but it's nothing like this."
Whether the body judges alcohol to be poisonous or not, Reurus is rarely drunk. Still, it felt like the body was warming up rapidly, and Reus frowned at how high the alcohol level was.
"It's a firecracker made by us Dwarves. Even humans can drink it....."
"This mochi? Alcohol doesn't progress with. The simple taste of mochi will ease the intensity of the alcohol."
Could you take some souvenirs home to the abandoned city of Laval? Reurus looks at Sarah with a bottle open. I wondered what would happen if Sarah, the spirit of fire, drank alcohol with a high alcohol content.
"What? Can I have a drink?
Did you notice Reurus's gaze? Sarah, who was chewing on the mochi she held in both hands, reached for the other bottle. And it's in your mouth.
"Bhaha!?
It is blown out in large quantities, and for some reason the fire is lit and turned into an instant flame emitter. The flame grew in a straight line, pushed by the momentum of the blowing, and the Reurus who saw it laughed unexpectedly. One of the fire-breathing tricks I saw on TV in the previous life came back to mind.
"Hey, what is this?! What is this!? This isn't what creatures drink!
"Hahaha... that means I can drink. I'm not a creature? You're gonna hurt me, aren't you?
"Huh? I'm afraid of Reurus' eyes... yes, no, that's not it... eh?
I'm not drunk, but should I start like this? That's what Reurus thought, but Sarah's gaze turned off unexpectedly.
"What is this... it's so far away... uh, what is this..."
"Hmm? What's wrong?
"Something feels strange...."
Sarah stares at a point with a serious look, not to distract her from the story. As he squeezed his expression, Reurus pulled out the big sword he had stabbed on the ground.
"Enemy?
"I don't know... but I can feel something from over there... magic? Because you signed a contract with Reurus?
That's how Sarah ran, followed by Reurus. Then he ran up the slope and stood at the top of the mountain, looking in the direction Sarah showed.
"... what is that?
Dwarf settlements can be on the mountains and there is nothing to block the surroundings. The "Lost Forest" was spreading around, but further afield, perhaps in the valley mine and in the mountain, there was “something” that could be seen from a distance.
Unless you're drunk and hallucinating, it's...
"Big worm... no, snake...?
