A Chronicle of Life in a Different World

Episode 180: Fighting Part 4

The slime stopped chasing Reurus and turned back to Lake Mersena.

Looking forward to the slime's body returning to its original size in just a few moments, Reurus and Jilba, Canna and Laurent, shouted to the next Jilba while pulling his cheeks.

"... this isn't good... is it?

I want it to be my mistake, I want it to be my mistake, but the reality will not change. And even if you escape the reality in front of you, you just die.

"... the name 'The Country Eaters' doesn't seem exaggerated."

Gilba murmured as if she had been stunned.

I was able to cut the slime's flesh fast enough to be sure it was dangerous but well. However, the slime that moves to “replenish” the shredded flesh cannot be forbidden to fight.

Use healing magic to heal your wounds - then attack until your magic runs out and you'll be able to defeat them someday. However, there is no indication that the slime used healing magic. It just absorbed the water from Lake Mersena and turned it into flesh.

(I don't feel like my magic has changed... but has it decreased slightly?

Fortunately, there has been no significant change in the amount of magic released from the slime. As expected, just absorbing the water from Lake Mersena will not amplify the magic.

On the contrary, it was a realuse that felt like the magic had decreased a little, but if it was said to be an error, it was only a convincing change.

No matter how many slimes of skin and flesh you cut, it doesn't make sense to recover from one end. We can't stop heading to Lake Mercena to recover, nor can we hold the slime giant.

This is a very bad Reurus, but Kanna and Laurent rush toward it. When they realized it, Zilba took immediate action, but Kanna and Laurent put their weapons in the sheath and showed no resistance.

"It's a mess, 'Rabbit'. You're not even trying to kill someone you're fighting with, are you?

"Bishop, Bishop, if that's how it stops, we Gregorians don't call us' rabbits'."

Despite the slime restoring flesh, Canna and Laurent interact in nature. Zilba's killer spirit swelled up when she heard the conversation, but Kanna passed away with a cool face.

"But the slime is quite an out-of-standard monster. I can nod that you need powerful attribute magic to kill all of this... Conversely, even powerful attribute magic can be an easy target to defeat."

"Neither I nor the bishop can use attribute magic, so it's the worst match."

"Yes... I wish I had brought one or two bishops or hands-on priests who are good at attribute magic."

Even if I say it now, I can't help but cut the words. But as soon as he turned to Reurus and Gilba, Eliza and the others were waiting behind him.

"There's only one thing I want to ask you. The children in the back... How far do I have to cut the slime to“ take it all at once ”with the magic of those two men with similar faces?

"I want to think that if I cut it in half..."

Although the slime was restored by the flesh, it did not appear to move immediately. That's why I'm afraid I'm going to have to reschedule the operation in time.

The original plan was for Reurus and the others to shred the slime's flesh and make it easier for Eliza and Sarah's magic to reach the Nucleus. However, the assumption that the slime can restore flesh simply by absorbing water changes.

If it is to be restored even if it is scraped, it must be put to rest. But if we don't finish it, we'll all be at a disadvantage. Rather, a single failure may determine defeat than disadvantage.

(If you're coming after me, you can guide me away from Lake Mersena... no, no.)

Even if it is guided to land, the slime will probably absorb objects other than water and enlarge the body. As expected, the amount of water in Lake Mersena does not extend to the end, but the trees, rocks, and even the ground are likely to be swallowed and transformed into their own flesh.

Then there's no escape anywhere. You may be able to escape the slime if you leave the scene using 'Caloric Release', but in that case you will be fearful of when the slime will attack.

In that case, the only way to survive is to defeat the slime in this situation, where there is an unexpected power of Kanna and Laurent. They are untrustworthy and unreliable, but they are just as capable in terms of combat power as Zilba.

Still, the Slime cannot be a decisive force against the opponent. Because the water of Lake Mersena is so infinite that it is impossible to “cut” the slime faster than it recovers.

That's what Reurus thinks - where he leans his neck.

(... what happens when you absorb water other than water? No, wait... why are you stopping at that size in the first place?

I didn't realize it was more than twice as huge as when I fought on an island, but if I could absorb water and make my body bigger, I wouldn't be surprised if it was even bigger.

It is a monster that once destroyed a country and was nicknamed "The Country Eaters." I wondered if it would be strange if the body of the slime swelled up exhaustively as a realus that learned the properties of the slime with its embarrassment.

I don't want this to happen, but if we continue to absorb the water from Lake Mersena, we should be able to grow our bodies bigger than we are today. It's still huge enough, but even though there are only four Reuses, it's only the size that can be cut off from the edge.

(Is the size of water the limit? Or is there any other reason?

It was a realuse that thought while observing the slime, but there was no answer. Therefore, I decided to honestly ask questions.

"I have questions about the size of the slime, but someone who is familiar with the habits and characteristics of the slime...."

Reurus looks around at Gilba and the others while saying so. But as soon as Gilba and the others hit each other, they shook their necks sideways.

"The slime has a small number of discoveries. I don't know much about Gregorianism."

"... the same as the Greeks is my business, but I don't know anything more about it than I've talked about before. Anything that bothers you?

Having heard the answers of Canna and Gilba, Reus also turned to Laurent, who shook his right hand in front of his face with a bitter smile. Laurent doesn't seem to have any more information about the slime either.

"I have three points of concern....."

Gilba and the others may come up with some sort of plan. Reurus, who decided to do so, told him that his movement was slower than when he fought on the island, that his body size was no bigger than "back to normal”, and that his magic was decreasing even slightly.

Especially since the movement is slowing down. There are no such signs now that they have jumped and attacked on isolated islands. If you jump, it's a thankful story because there is no guarantee that you can avoid it.

"Hmm... maybe it's not enough magic."

"Not enough magic?

Canna murmured interestingly at the short story of Reurus.

"If you're a human being, it's like you've suddenly multiplied your height and weight. There are limits to what you can do with Enhancements. I don't know what the structure of the slime is, but maybe it's because it's too huge that it's a feud...

Kanna looks at the slime crawling up to land again to see if the water has been absorbed. The expression seemed to look somewhere far away and nodded many times whether he was satisfied with the words he had released.

"I've seen it the other way around." A monster with enormous magic that does not match a small body, and that moves at windy speeds without "strengthening"... that slime also seems to have great magic, but it is a subtle thing to say that it is magic commensurate with the size of the body. "

The Reurus is not so familiar with the monster's ecology, but there was something convincing in Canna's words. In addition, I also know monsters with enormous magic, such as the giant body that looks up.

("Enhancement" is activated by "spreading magic all over the body"... it wasn't stylish when Vanille was using her big body and rich in magic.)

When I asked the slime, the answer could not be returned, so it was only speculation, but I was also convinced if I could not move satisfactorily due to lack of magic. When you can move your body freely, you don't want to think about how threatening it is.

If that assumption was correct, it is a mystery why you made your body huge at such a disadvantage.

"Somebody's talking about rodents, so I don't suppose you've made your body big enough to be safe from being eaten."

"Who the hell did that?"

Reurus answers lightly as he looks at the slime approaching as he waves his body, with his face full of 'Dragon Slash'. The slime still seemed to be targeting the revus, heading straight for it.

I was able to guess why the slime was slow. However, there has been no progress in terms of whether or not it can be brought to an end.

Slime is shredded, healed, and shredded again - can you beat it one day if you keep fighting like that?

(To shoot down Eliza and Sarah's magic... are you sure you can handle half of it?

Reurus and the others have limited health, but Eliza and Sarah have limited magic. Regardless of Sarah, the Spirit of Fire, Eliza is not perfect in her magic.

There is no dexterity that can trigger powerful magic. If you think of magic, you need to shoot it twice, and if you prioritize power, you need to shoot it in one shot.

In order to be sure, we need to cut the slime as much as possible, but even if we cut it slightly, the slime could fall into the stroke of restoring the flesh.

If we keep fighting like this, we die. I have no prospect of winning a short-term battle.

(Now Eliza has a wand that uses thunder's "jewels", and if she can do something about magic, she can do it twice.)

The moment I thought about it, Reurus felt too numb in his brain. And with that sensation coming, you raise your voice in your heart.

Sarah, do you have the "jewel" of fire?
