A Chronicle of Life in a Different World

Episode 387: Collard's Request Part 1

Speranza is the only town in Baron Amendura's territory.

Five months after construction began, a house was built in a place that could not have been called a "if it had” town.

Built so close to the center of town, the house is a newly constructed wooden two-story house with a woody scent.

On the first floor, there is a living room in the front door, a kitchen in the guest room, a bathroom in the warehouse, a private room in the toilet, and it is spacious inside.

The second floor consists of four private rooms, each about ten tatami mats in size.

Small but with a garden, it is surrounded by wooden fences to show the grounds of the house.

The land cost is free, the materials to build the house are free, the construction cost is free, and everything is built for free inside the house.

Waking up in a private room built on the ground floor, Reurus was slightly confused by an unfamiliar "room” as he woke himself up from the bedside before laughing bitterly.

Unlike the rough house that used to have a wooden roof on the earth wall, the floor, wall and ceiling are all made of wood, and the house feels the cleanliness that is unique to the new building.

Bigger and better built than their homes in the abandoned city of Laval, the house is a new hub of activity for the Reurus in the town of Speranza.

(It would have been nice if it had been a much smaller house... but it was hard.)

It is a splendid house that makes you laugh in your heart without thinking. If we hadn't harvested the forests that existed around the town of Speranza to get the lumber, we wouldn't know how much it cost.

There is also a shelf in the corner of the room for weapons and armor, as well as some of your favorite weapon defenses, such as Dragon Slash.

I always wore daggers so I could deal with things immediately, but fortunately the town of Speranza was not attacked at night, so I was able to have a peaceful morning.

This house is a “part” of the rewards Reus and others have been given for building the town of Speranza.

The town of Speranza takes shape with each passing day, but the achievements of the Reurus are great. The monsters were hunted down in large quantities to ensure safety, trees were cut down and transported, and the dwarves showed no defeat in civil engineering work.

As a result, Natalia gave permission to build a house in the town of Speranza when she headed to the abandoned city of Laval to deliver the report again.

They also said that it was okay to use building materials “as you like”, and they even said that Natalia had construction costs.

As a Reurus, even if I received a reward, I thought it was because the town had become a little more shaped and life in the town had stabilized, but I was told that I wanted to know the result of building a house using wood produced in Baron Amendura's territory, and I was pushed out.

Regarding the other rewards, the first of the “normal” buildings in the town of Speranza has become the home of Reurus.

It was a Reurus who thought that the residence of Natalia, the lord, should be given the highest priority, but sometimes Natalia, who is in the position of a baron, lived far bigger than the Reurus' homes and had to wait because the building materials used various things.

Calvin and Dwarf, who built the Reurus' house, said, "It's normal and not interesting," but since the bath and toilet are in the house, it's likely that Reurus will remember his previous life.

Although only the bathhouse uses stone to prevent corrosion, our new two-storey wooden house had a satisfactory finish as a reuse.

Since some of the felled trees have become dry enough to be used as wood, the houses of other workers are not as large as the houses of Reurus, but they are planned to be built sequentially.

When Reurus was thinking about his home, the sound of knocking on the door of his home was heard. Reurus, who noticed the sound, opened the wooden window in his room and peered into his face, and he saw Collard in front of the door.

"Good morning, Mr. Collard. Anything wrong?

"Mmm, good morning. I'm sorry to bother you in the morning, but is that okay?

Collard's expression was slightly reluctant to make such a call, but his complexion was not bad.

The town of Speranza is also taking shape, except for food problems, so the spiritual burden will probably be relieved.

With the empty moats and earthen walls commensurate with the night shift, there is no need for Reurus and Collard to wake up like they do every night. As it is now under control, Collard is also resting tightly compared to before.

"Would you like to go home? I can only pump as much water....."

"No, I don't mind... but I'm impressed that we finally have a decent home in this town."

I'm sure there's something I can do for you, but Collard moved the subject to Reurus' home. In other words, there's no rush, there's nothing serious about it.

"I think it's better to build Mr. Kohlard's house than we do... but in Mr. Kohlard's case, there's nothing we can do about it because we don't have enough building materials."

"I'm single, and considering the future, I wonder if I could build a house in this town. Well, it'll take years to complete the town, so it's not a bad idea to build it..."

Collard smiles bitterly at Reurus's words. However, he immediately looked distantly at Reurus' home.

"If you ask the dwarves, the house will be built in less than two days... honestly, you don't have to hurry."

"Dwarfs generally like to make."

As long as the building materials are available, the dwarves will build houses in crowds. The speed and accuracy of the work will never be achieved by the same carpenters.

"Well, Mr. Collard, what about being single? What about getting married? If you were a baroness, you'd have as much of a wife as you wanted.

"... do you think you can get married in your current state? Really?"

"It's impossible...?

"That's impossible. And, well... it's a lot of trouble, but there's also the pleasure of building a town..."

I wonder if he smiled bitterly at Reurus's words, but Collard slightly distracted himself. Town building is progressing at an unconscious speed, but it seems fun to get used to.

"Mr. Collard is an associate baron, he's strong, and he knows everything. If you care about that, you can have one or two wives, or three or five wives right away."

Because of their social status, strength and resourcefulness, they can definitely be described as “excellent properties”.

Reurus knew from the bottom of his heart that Collard had to celebrate his wedding.

"You won't complain if you take multiple marriages in a position, but I want peace in my family... that's good. I'll leave it on the side."

Collard had a light chat, but switched topics to get back to business. Reurus also tightened his expression to the appearance of Collard.

"I need to talk to you... I don't need to work in town today, so I need you to take a look around the streets."

"I don't mind that... have you seen a monster?

If that were the case, it would be nice to be more hasty, but when Reurus asked, Collard shook his head sideways.

"No, I was worried because the caravan that was supposed to arrive yesterday didn't arrive... it would be an error for about a day, but I was hoping you'd check the safety. And I want you to clean up the streets."

"Ah... I guess so."

I was informed in advance of what kind of goods would arrive, and based on that, Collard was building the town, but the “support” that was scheduled to arrive yesterday did not arrive.

Were they attacked by monsters, bandits, or accidents before they came to Speranza? Of course, it is only possible that he is purely late and that he is just nearby the town.

It's very unlikely, but Baron Amondola's streets are rough and may have lost their way.

Then it would be better to go looking for the caravan while searching for monsters at the same time.

"I understand... but wasn't it nice to talk about it at breakfast?

"Could Calvin and the others ask for something? In that case, it would be better to have a foreclosure. I'm in charge, but" I'm asking first ”is important."

That said, Collard has far-sighted eyes, but it is also an opinion that nods as a revulsion.

(Even though the old ladies are asking me for something, I might be dissatisfied if I change it with an order from later.....)

Collard is gradually breaking up with dwarves and Laval Waste City workers, but it would be better if there were fewer seeds of discord. No matter how small it may be, we cannot deny the possibility of grievances sprouting in unexpected ways.

"That's why I'm asking. I think it's probably just a late journey, but I've never been too careful. I want you to take a quick look around the western streets."

"I'm relying on imports from outside right now... I'll be out soon after breakfast."

Collard may have asked for some caution, but Reurus thought that prudence would be preferable.

So Reurus took breakfast as declared, equipped, and then went on a road tour with Eliza and the others.

"... that's weird."

And it was past noon that day.

Running to the edge of Baron Amendura's collar, Reus leaned his neck to the point where he could never find a soldier in the caravan or his escort.
