Chapter 537 - 534: Let Her Be Smug for a While
’But what did it matter? None of that was important anymore!’
The fact that Clara Grant liked Miles Quinn was a far juicier scandal than the other way around. It gave her more than enough ammunition to bring Clara Grant down.
’Just imagine: a woman in love with two men at the same time—and those men are brothers. That’s not just being a home-wrecker. That’s being unchaste, indecent... utterly depraved!’
If this wasn’t enough to take Clara Grant down, Autumn Shelby didn’t know what would.
At the thought, Autumn Shelby grew instantly excited. "She likes Miles? Do you have proof? Or, should I say, do you have proof of her trying to seduce him?"
"No," Chloe Grant said, shaking her head. "She likes Miles, but she’s never actually done anything out of line. Besides, if she’d dared to make a move on him, I would’ve dealt with her ages ago. Do you think I’d have let her get away with it until now?"
A look of disappointment crossed Autumn Shelby’s face. Without evidence, their claims would have no credibility. Unless Clara Grant confessed herself, getting the Quinn family’s parents to believe them would be difficult.
Seeing Autumn’s disappointment, Chloe Grant suddenly realized what she was planning and tentatively suggested, "Well, in that case... should we... do something? Stage an incident?"
The words were barely out of her mouth before Autumn Shelby shot the idea down. "That accident happened just over half a month ago. Seth is being extremely careful now. He’s even posted bodyguards on set to ensure Clara Grant’s safety.
If we make a move now, forget about whether we could even pull it off—even if we succeeded, we’d be found out in no time.
So, we should just wait. Once the talk about that incident dies down, we can come up with another plan."
"But..." Chloe Grant was still reluctant to give up.
"No buts. Just do as I say. We’re laying low for now. As for that bitch, we’ll let her enjoy herself for a little while longer," Autumn Shelby said, a strange glint in her eyes.
...
Perhaps it was because her identity as the CEO’s wife had finally been announced, or perhaps it was because Seth Quinn had posted so many bodyguards on set, but Clara Grant’s filming schedule went off without a hitch. Even Faye Jennings stopped saying or doing anything to bother her.
Clara Grant didn’t know if Faye had truly moved on, but as long as she stayed in line, Clara had no intention of deliberately making things difficult for her.
So, aside from the fact that their greetings were no longer as warm as they once were—they’d even dropped the pretense of being polite—things between them were peaceful.
When Clara Grant wasn’t filming or honing her acting skills, she was usually on the phone, cooing with Seth Quinn.
Seth Quinn would also come by the set to see her occasionally. Whenever he showed up, Holly Summers would be left "homeless," and Chase Childs would keep her company. As a result, the two of them got many more opportunities to spend time alone together.
In fact, Seth Quinn had originally wanted to get Clara Grant her own private room. After all, she was the CEO’s wife now; booking her a presidential suite wouldn’t have been going too far.
But Clara Grant had refused. For one, she was used to rooming with Holly Summers and felt she would be too lonely in a room by herself.
And for another, she knew that Chase Childs liked Holly Summers, and Holly, for her part, seemed to bring up Chase’s name more and more often in their conversations.
She could see something was developing between them. So, in the spirit of matchmaking, she insisted on not changing rooms to give them more opportunities to be alone.
For this, Seth Quinn had even laughed and said she was getting addicted to playing matchmaker.
And just like that, another half a month went by in the blink of an eye.
One day, Seth Quinn was in his office, enjoying a long phone call with Clara Grant. Filming for the entire series would wrap in a few days, and since Clara only had a few simple scenes left each day, she had more free time.
Seth was speaking gently into the phone when his office door was suddenly thrown open, and a figure swept in with a gust of wind.
