Chapter 392: Let’s get It done with.
Anabel.
Vincent, the rogue, was my mate?
I stood perfectly still, letting that terrifying realization wash over me.
How could fate be so cruel?
Out of every single werewolf in the entire world, how could the universe pair me up with a man who had no pack, no home, and a terrible reputation?
It felt like a sick, twisted joke played on me by the moon goddess herself.
I was still deeply lost in the million questions echoing loudly within my head, my mind spinning totally out of control, that I barely realized someone else was now standing directly in front of me.
The air around me suddenly shifted, and a tall shadow fell over my face, snapping me out of my deep trance.
And to make matters completely worse, it was him. Vincent was standing right there, looking down at me. I stared at his face, wondering what was going on inside his head.
Did he feel it too?
Did his inner wolf just scream the exact same word mine did?
Whatever the truth was, I made a firm decision right then and there. I can’t accept this bond. I simply refuse to let this happen.
I love Noah, and I will remain with him. I have already chosen my path, and a random, unwanted mate bond is not going to ruin everything I have built with him.
Yes, I just need to focus on my main plan and ensure Maria moves back to the brothers, as that was the right thing to happen. They are fated mates, and fixing their mess is all I should be thinking about right now.
"What are you doing here?" Vincent asked suddenly.
His voice was deep and harsh, and as he stared at me, his eyes were filled with nothing but pure disgust. He looked at me like I was an annoying pest blocking his way.
And despite the fact that I explicitly told myself not to care about him at all, it was so strange and surprising that he stared at me like that.
Why should his obvious disgust bother me?
Yet, my inner wolf whined, and the cold rejection in his eyes actually stung my pride.
"I should ask you the same question, rogue!" I asked, clearly pissed off now.
I lifted my chin and glared right back at him, making sure my voice carried as much disrespect as possible.
Vincent’s eyes darkened instantly. He immediately pulled me closer, moving incredibly fast as he grabbed my waist in a tight grip, completely erasing the distance between us. Then, he lowered his face and brought his lips right next to my ear.
"Who are you calling a rogue?" He whispered into my ear, his tone dangerously low and threatening.
I swallowed hard, a heavy lump forming in my throat as I suddenly felt completely trapped.
The sudden, intense heat radiating from my body from his touch was quite surprising. It was an overwhelming fire burning under my skin, and to my absolute horror, I felt a wild, powerful spark that I haven’t felt with Noah in ages.
No way! What am I thinking?
I forced my eyes shut, terrified of my own reaction.
"Get a hold of yourself, Anabel!" I said inwardly, mentally slapping myself to wake up and step away from him.
With those words echoing loudly in my head, reminding me of my loyalty to Noah, I tried pushing Vincent away with all the strength I could muster. I planted my hands firmly against his broad chest and shoved, but his grip on me only became much firmer, locking me against him. His eyes grew darker by the second, the bright color of his irises completely swallowed up by a deep, pitch-black shade.
And instantly, a wave of panic washed over me because I knew he was no longer in control, but his wolf. The wild, untamed beast inside him had taken over completely, driven entirely by the power of the fated mate bond.
"Snap out of it!" I yelled at him immediately, my voice sharp and desperate in the quiet space between us.
I needed him to wake up and regain his senses, but he didn’t seem to hear a single word I said. My voice didn’t register to him at all; he was completely consumed by the beast within.
Before I could even think about my next move, he leaned in and claimed my lips possessively. It was a fierce, demanding kiss that took my breath away. I stared at him in total shock, my eyes wide open as his lips moved against mine with a wild intensity.
And honestly, my inner wolf wasn’t helping the situation either. Instead of fighting back or feeling disgusted, she ached dangerously for his touch. She was practically begging me to give in, purring loudly in my head and completely betraying my human mind.
Vincent pulled out of the kiss for a brief second, his breathing heavy and ragged. With his eyes still completely dark and full of a dangerous hunger, he pulled me straight into his room and slammed the door shut behind us, cutting us off from the rest of the world.
He pinned me to the wall instantly, the hard wood pressing against my back as he trapped my body with his own. He stared at me with nothing but raw desire—a fierce, consuming look that Noah never once did in all the years we had been together. It was a completely new and terrifying feeling.
"Don’t make a single sound, mate!" He ordered, his voice deep, gravelly, and laced with absolute alpha authority.
Shit, he knows. Hearing him say that word out loud confirmed my worst fear. He felt the exact same pull I did.
I can’t let things go any further. I knew that if I didn’t stop this right now, I would completely lose myself to the bond.
I immediately struggled to free my hands from his tight grip, twisting and turning my wrists, but it was to no avail. He was simply too strong for me. Realizing that raw strength wouldn’t work, I used the element of surprise. I brought my knee up quickly and kicked his cock with everything I had, causing him to instantly release me and step away in pure pain.
"Reject me!" I yelled immediately, taking a deep breath as I stood my ground. "Because I reject this bond." I paused, letting my words sink in. "So tell me your full name and let’s get this done." I added firmly.
Vincent stared at me, completely shocked and breathless, as though he wasn’t expecting me to throw away our fated future so easily.
