After this experience, Yun Ya also figured things out. Her sensitive nature is prone to overthinking; many issues arise because she focuses too much on trivial details. Even though she knows it’s wrong, she can’t fully control herself, leading to dead ends over time.

The best solution for her is not to listen, think, or look, but to stay peacefully in his embrace, believing that Brother Yan will definitely protect her and never let her suffer again.

Yan Song touched her cheek and saw her eyelids slightly drooped, her expression inscrutable, making his heart tighten. He softly asked, "Do you not like it here?"

Yun Ya lifted her face, her fair little face glowing with a bright and radiant smile, "No, it’s quite nice here. As long as I’m with Brother Yan, everywhere feels the same to me."

Yan Song’s heart stirred slightly, and he smiled, rubbing her cheek, "Your little mouth is so sweet."

"Then should you reward me?"

"What kind of reward do you want?"

Yun Ya’s eyes spun mischievously, quite lively, "Reward me by warming up my bed tonight."

"As you command."

"Hahahaha...."

As Yan Song wrapped his arms around her to stand up, Yun Ya burst into laughter, with a crisp and melodious sound. In the inner room, Yan Ke mumbled, turning over.

Yun Ya’s room was next door, not big, with simple furnishings. When the window is pushed open, one can see the courtyard filled with flowers, appearing particularly serene and tranquil in the moonlight.

Four people, with three rooms prepared, might lead outsiders to think there’s something up. Yan Song directly slept in Yun Ya’s room; the two never avoided suspicion. In this day and age, for boyfriends and girlfriends, sleeping together is simpler than having a meal. They are engaged and even cohabiting isn’t problematic.

After chatting for a while, Yun Ya had been traveling continuously for the past couple of days and was particularly exhausted. Once she relaxed, she quickly fell asleep. Even in her sleep, she was nestled in Yan Song’s arms, tightly wrapping her hands around his waist, as if afraid he would leave while she was asleep.

Yan Song chuckled softly, helplessly caressing her back to soothe her subconscious unease.

The gentle sound of her breathing gradually echoed; she was sleeping soundly.

Yan Song raised his eyes to look at the deep night outside the window, the surroundings were quiet, except for occasional insect chirps, restoring peace.

Yan Song gently shifted Yun Ya’s hands aside. Just as he prepared to get out of bed, his waist was suddenly encircled by small hands. Turning his head, he saw Yun Ya instinctively curling toward him like a kitten, clutching his clothing tightly.

It was an entirely subconscious action.

With a helpless sigh, Yan Song removed his outer garment, turned, and lay down again. As if instinctively seeking warmth, she found a comfortable position in his arms, her lips curled in satisfaction, and her breathing deepened.

Gazing at her serene sleeping face, Yan Song helplessly pinched her nose.

Even sleeping, she couldn’t stay settled.

Oh well, nothing would happen anyway. Yan Song lay down, resting his head against Yun Ya’s, and slowly closed his eyes, though his mind remained alert, attuned to any sounds outside.

At midnight, twelve sharp, Yan Song’s eyes opened abruptly, piercing the darkness.

The insect noises had grown noticeably louder, chaotic, dizzying to the ear.

The window suddenly blew open with the wind, banging against the frame, making a haunting sound.

Cold gusts assaulted, making the curtains flutter.

Yan Song turned to shield Yun Ya’s body securely in his embrace, his broad back resisting the savage winds.

In her dreams, Yun Ya furrowed her brows uneasily, grasping Yan Song’s clothing tightly. Yan Song gently patted her back, softly whispering comfort by her ear.

Gradually, Yun Ya settled down.

Yan Song released her, quickly getting out of bed to approach the window, looking at the gloomy nightscape outside. Even the solitary ray of moonlight was obscured by dense clouds; his heart felt heavy.

He raised his hand to shut the window, locking it securely.

Turning back, he returned to the bed, brushing off the chill, lying on his side. Yun Ya instinctively found her way over.

That night, Yun Ya slept soundly until the next morning, waking to find Yan Song’s handsome face close by. She smiled, "Brother Yan, good morning."

But upon seeing the dark circles beneath his eyes and the emerging stubble on his jaw, she gently touched his face with concern, "Didn’t you sleep well last night?"

Yan Song touched her hand, "It was alright. How about you? How did you sleep last night?"

Yun Ya laughed, "Very well."

She was about to get up when she heard a groan beside her. Turning to look, she realized she had been resting her head on Yan Song’s arm all night. From start to finish, he hadn’t shifted his arm even once, and its circulation had long been cut off, leaving it stiff and numb. As Yun Ya rose, the discomfort grew more apparent, especially since that arm had once been injured.
