Chapter 611: Suspicion - 2

"Master! Two of the weak men summoned four weak beasts!" Shyra informed Leo as he watched the scene through her eyes.

At the same time, the three men who had been trailing Leo summoned two beasts of their own that rapidly charged towards Leo and Lily.

This forced Leo to split his attention between Patric’s party’s condition and handling his own crisis.

But when he saw the beasts clearly with his own eyes, his attention wavered because of their appearance.

One was a wolf nearly 2.5 meters tall, covered in silky black fur with crimson streaks running beneath its coat like glowing veins. Its ruby eyes remained half-lidded, while long silver fangs protruded from its lips. But the unique thing about it was the warm, intoxicating scent constantly drifting from its body as it ran towards him and Lily.

The second was a 1.5-meter-tall boar possessing sleek dark-brown bristles with faint crimson veins weaving beneath its hide. Its curved tusks were smooth and long, while its amber eyes carried an unnaturally calm look, as if it wasn’t charging ferociously towards Leo.

It was the first time Leo had seen such a beast... a beast corrupted by demonic influence.

"Master!" Lily immediately called out, snapping Leo out of his stupor as he quickly took a fighting stance.

But then he realised something.

"Natalie! Run! We cannot beat these beasts together!"

The beasts were higher-ranked than what Leo and Lily’s false identities could take on.

"Y-yes, Master!"

Both immediately spun around.

But at that moment, Shyra shared her senses and conveyed that something was happening with Patric’s group.

Shit! How do I tell Lily to pretend without speaking out loud?! It seemed that the drug really had some sort of trigger mechanism that could be activated at any time by the people trailing them.

As if sensing what Leo wanted to say, Lily turned around.

Leo immediately made a few hand gestures while making it seem as though he was fumbling to pull out his throwable knives.

Lily understood instantly.

"M-master... I don’t feel good."

Twip! Twip!

Leo threw the knives towards the charging beasts, but neither beast tried to dodge. The knives dug a few centimetres into their flesh before stopping.

"What the hell are you—huh?"

Leo clutched his head as though a wave of dizziness had suddenly struck him, mimicking the same movements Patric had been making.

Lily immediately copied Leo, and since she was weaker than him, she needed to act even more convincingly.

"Master..." Lily collapsed to her knees as her wand clattered onto the ground.

"Natalie!" Leo threw away his bags to lessen the weight on his body and drew his sword to fight back the beasts—all the while acting as if he was growing increasingly dizzy, his footing unsteady.

"W-what is happening?" he muttered while hacking his blade at the boar charging wildly towards him. The charge was so fast that it had even left the higher-ranked wolf behind.

Since Leo was pretending to be weak, his blade recoiled after striking the boar’s hard skull, and the beast slammed squarely into his chest.

"Ack!"

Leo was flung away while still holding his sword, but the interesting thing was the blood he spat out, as though it had been forced from his stomach and chest by the impact.

The reality?

He bit his own tongue.

Fuck! Harming oneself is painful... he thought while landing on the ground and rolling.

"Argh..." He tried standing up to take his stance once again, but at that moment—

"Hold on!" The three people who had been trailing him suddenly appeared.

"Let us help you!" one of them shouted while rushing towards the wolf that was about to clash with Leo.

Their masks were down, revealing ordinary human faces with black and brown hair, but their black clothes still stood out against the surroundings.

They engaged the beasts, and in no time, they forced them to retreat. Leo noticed that the beasts received minimal harm that would generally not make a beast retreat.

Mid 2-star, Low 2-star... and Low 1-star? Leo sensed their strength while making it look as though he was struggling against the dizziness assaulting him.

Lily was already lying on the ground, pretending to be unconscious while keeping her ears open for any hidden threats.

"Oi! Are you alright?" one of the men approached Leo.

"Stay back..." Leo warned, somehow managing to stand upright.

He was still trying to act tough because, back at Shyra’s location, Patric, Liam and Shreya were still standing and were attempting to fight alongside the six men who had come to help them, just like these three men had come to help Leo.

Junni and Waisal, being weaker, were already lying unconscious.

But the men ignored Leo’s words and continued walking towards him.

"I said stay back!" Leo pointed his sword at them, but as if his hands had loosened, the sword dropped down, and Leo held it with the support of the ground.

He staggered sideways until he was standing between Lily and the men.

"Come on, dude. We’re simply trying to help," the Low 1-star man said as he continued walking forward, even reaching Leo’s arm’s length.

"I..." Leo muttered.

"I warned you—"

Leo’s blade flashed across the man’s neck.

The next moment, the man’s head rolled to the ground as the rest of his body collapsed.
