Chapter 627: An Application Of Talent?
Chapter 627: An Application Of Talent?
At Thalvyr and Cindriss’s location, the environment seemed to be another notch hotter. And it wasn’t Howl’s doing, but rather the effect of all the natural treasures around them—and themselves.
They seemed to be deep in concentration, assimilating the energy being released by the treasure fruits they had consumed.
Leo didn’t think it was right to interrupt them. Instead, he took a look at their status plates.

Leo noted that Arkvyr didn’t have any noticeable progress.
Maybe it’s his age... Leo thought. Arkvyr was barely around five years old, and it seemed that beings other than beasts also had limitations based on age. No matter how much a young child was pampered, they wouldn’t grow beyond a certain threshold until they came of age.
On the other hand, Kazz was growing at a tremendous speed. From Low 1-star to Peak 1-star, he had even surpassed Arkvyr. But was still weaker than him because Akrvyr had superior traits and talent.
"Maybe it’s related to intelligence?" Leo muttered, unsure of the exact limitations. Kazz and Arkvyr had similar body sizes and even similar structures to a certain degree, but Kazz didn’t seem to have those limitations.
"Maybe it’s because of the system... even my own growth is abnormal," Leo concluded.
The system helping him, Lily, and their beasts digest natural treasures and other enhancement items swiftly and perfectly was one of the most effective forms of assistance it provided.
Leo continued walking through the territory, and along the way, he realized Miho, Kaelion, the three blue-haired girls, and Virat were absent. They were still out on their mission. Brok was sleeping in his house, and many elves were also wrapped in thick blankets inside their own homes.
The only one working was Veronica, diligently researching recipes to perfect her potions.
Even the watchtowers, which stood outside Howl’s heat zone due to their height, seemed still. But when Leo focused, he could see a few Gnomes huddled together in groups to keep warm while remaining on watch. The elves were doing the same. Two elves would sit close to each other beneath thick blankets to preserve their warmth.
Leo also noticed that the blankets had been made from the treasures he acquired from the Ember Family Secret Realm, materials that retained heat well and kept everyone comfortable.
Though Leo had given them time to rest while he and Lily were away from the territory, the elves couldn’t sit idle. They had used their free time to craft blankets and scarves out of the [Ashvein Mosses] and [Furnace Vein Mosses].
Whenever people spotted Leo, they greeted him. After he told them he was just out for a stroll, they returned to their work.
A four-meter-tall Golem stood outside Aeila’s house, along with a few others near neighboring homes. Aeila herself also seemed to be huddled beneath thick blankets against the cold.
Overall, the territory’s mood was rather lazy, except for a few like Thalvyr, Bigfoot, Naelith, Cindriss, and few others who continued training and working.
At the Frosthide Bison’s barn, most of the beasts sat close together, huddling for warmth. Two elves were keeping watch over them while continuously regenerating grass to keep them fed.
Hmm, it would be great if Howl’s body could expand more, or I could simply settle in a new place and have the barn rebuilt outside Howl’s back so they could have a proper grazing ground, Leo thought.
After that, he checked the placement of the mana-enriching treasure plants across the territory. Every plant had a wooden shed covering its top so excess snow wouldn’t bury its main body, allowing it to function optimally.
Finally, he arrived at the farm the Gnomes had been working on. It had already expanded to more than six hectares. The land had been fully tilled, and crops had been planted throughout. However, the intense cold had seemingly halted their growth. Even after so long, only a few showed noticeable progress.
Nothing could be done. Leo had simply started farming at the wrong time of the year. And even if he had planned better, he could never have accounted for such heavy snowfall in the lush forest surrounding them.
Apparently, the King Beast’s passing had made the weather far more extreme than it was normally.
Thankfully, the Gnomes had kept themselves busy crafting wooden utilities, which Sylrael seemed to be planning to sell as a new source of income.
Leo glanced toward the feather shop, and it actually seemed to be receiving customers. The path between it and the Teleportation Array had clear signs of use, meaning people had indeed been coming and going.
Leo checked the income from the Teleportation Array, something he had yet to review.
58,900 AC
"Wow... I actually started making passive income..." Leo muttered.
"Well, the retirement plan still seems far off with this small amount."
He then checked the other sources of income Sylrael had been managing.
- Teleportation Array: 58,900 AC
- Bison Milk: 290,000 AC
- Magic Fruits: 489,900 AC
- Arrows made from metallic feathers: 2,890,700 AC
- Tax from potions made by Veronica: 390,000 AC
- Tax from feather shop: 120,750 AC
- Crystal Fish Farm: 1,500,000 AC
- Collective housing charges and tax for staying in a mana-rich place: 36,500 AC
Total Income: 5,776,750 AC
Then there was his 5.1 Million AC salary for April from the academy. A total of nearly 11 Million AC in just the 25 days the academy had remained active while he was away on the mission.
Leo rubbed his eyes as though he had seen something wrong. Then he closed the Territory Management App and reopened it.
Everything was the same, including the amount waiting to be claimed.
"What the fuck?"
He ceremoniously slipped his phone back into his pocket and headed toward Lily. This would require an explanation from Sylrael herself.
Man... I really won’t be hunted by the elves’ tribe for keeping someone as talented as Sylrael as a slave, right? he jokingly thought, extremely satisfied that he had managed to secure someone as capable as Sylrael for his territory.
In a cheerful mood, he arrived at Lily’s location.
But the moment he saw her, his mood died.
Lily was frowning as she silently read the letter once again after flipping the page.
