Leo focused in that direction and saw a shining beast flying towards the center of the city at high speed.
Leo immediately recognized it as Kaelion’s Skyreaver.
"He came..." Leo muttered.
And as expected, he wasn’t alone. Miho was riding along with him.
But Kaelion didn’t land right away. He took multiple rounds around the city as if checking something. In reality, he was waiting for Miho to finish looking over the city properly.
Having lived in this city herself, she was fascinated by how much it had grown.
But because of them, people were already panicking below.
Even James came rushing out into the open to see the huge monster circling the city as if looking for prey.
Leo waved at James from a distance.
"Brother James! Weren’t you asking how we would be going? This is our ride!"
James had been getting worried about how the people would deal with this beast, but his worry quickly turned into awe.
"How much did it even cost?" That was his first thought.
Seeing the shiny beast, which was very much a spirit from what he could tell, he knew the cost of hiring it must have been great. Spirit avian beasts were capable of higher-speed flight than physical ones due to having less physical interference. In other words, higher cost for higher travel speed.
When Kaelion spotted Leo, he promptly descended towards the castle without reservation while the Skyreaver progressively reduced its size.
This caused even more panic among the people, so Leo immediately took flight and reached Kaelion.
"Unsummon your beast!" Leo shouted as he came up to them.
"I will use wind to cushion your fall. Hold Miho firmly!"
Kaelion didn’t question Leo one bit and immediately unsummoned the Skyreaver.
"Eh?!"
Miho suddenly found open air beneath her and started to fall, but Kaelion immediately scooped her up in a princess carry while Leo used wind to make them slowly descend and land softly on the ground.
"T-thank you, Brother K..." Miho thanked him, her face red with nervousness. She could feel his heat through the fabric and even his steadily beating heart that didn’t matched the pace of her racing heart at all.
"No problem."
Saying that, he set her down.
He looked around as Leo landed beside him.
His expression made it clear that he now completely believed that Leo and Lily were from the outskirts.
"Looks good, right? The city received resources after producing talents like us, and under the great rule of Brother James, it flourished."
"Though I feel like most of the funds were embezzled along the way."
Kaelion slowly nodded.
"That is something that is difficult to control with how vast the Empire is... So?" Kaelion asked.
"Why did you call me?"
"To take people back to our territory."
Kaelion looked at him as if he had heard wrong.
"Just this?"
"Yes." Leo said with a smile.
"Are you kidding me?"
"No?"
Kaelion pinched his forehead in frustration.
"Why didn’t you hire a ride?"
"Because we were in a hurry and didn’t have time to look for an appropriate person."
"Hurry? What hurry?" Kaelion asked in confusion, after which Leo explained everything.
Miho found Lily beckoning at her and went towards her while James and Vintage reached Leo’s location.
"Milti family..." Kaelion muttered as if searching his memory.
"This... I don’t think it’s because of any speciality that they were given the surname. They must be some Landlord family."
After that, uncharacteristically, Kaelion became a bit interested and demanded the same things as Leo to get a look at them.
The compensation slip, official ruling, and the city management logs.
"He is your friend?" James thought he couldn’t be surprised anymore, and then here was Kaelion. Another Beast Master with that monstrous tamed beast that was a friend of Leo.
Vintage was already careful about how he behaved around Leo, and now he seemed to have taken up an even higher professional demeanor.
When Kaelion looked at those papers, his face darkened.
"Which Empire Officials are dealing with this case?" he asked.
Though Leo did notice that instead of going for the noble family, Kaelion directly targeted the officials.
Hmm, from what I have guessed, his background looks pretty strong... Professor Katherine is his aunt, he left his family. Hmm, no clear clue, but this reaction tells me he should belong to some ruling class...
Leo deduced this purely on the basis of Kaelion’s intensive knowledge about Noble Families and other things, as well as this particular reaction. Only someone from the ruling class would target the people sitting in court.
Even he was thinking of dealing with the convoys and Milti family violently while dealing with the Empire Officials peacefully, with only subtle, non-obvious threats so that he didn’t get dragged into convoluted shit.
But Kaelion had no such concerns.
"They are sitting in the main city ruled by the Milti family and want us to come to their place if I want to object to this ruling."

"Those officials are supposed to send their representative at least two times here according to the law."
He turned towards Leo while rustling the sheets of paper in his hands.
"Some people are about to lose their jobs."
Leo raised his brow.
"Okay..."
Kaelion continued.
"You might be thinking dealing with Empire Officials is troublesome and might pull you into unwanted problems and procedures. You are right. But that’s only for people with no power, backing, or leverage at all.
"In that case, they would need to toil their way back and forth for years to get one problem solved. Let me show you how exactly someone like me or you, who has strength, power, and backing, should deal with such problems."
Leo nodded.
But internally, Kaelion was thinking something else.
If I want to properly rebel, I need to start taking active steps to gain the influence that my siblings must already gathered a lot of. I will mark my first step starting with this...
Kaelion had decided that his 1st method of rebelling against his father would be pointing out flaws in his build system.

Three old men were sitting at a round table discussing things. Two had white hair, while one had light green hair.
They were none other than Brant, Tarun, and Gunther.
"That boy... is he losing interest in the rewards provided by the academy?" Brant said.
"Might be... and not just him, but all the students in the top rankings. This new generation is way stronger than any generation we have seen before. Though it’s good news and proves that our efforts in the last decades are finally coming to fruition, but this also demands higher attention to them. We cannot afford to be lousy with the benefits provided by the academy, lest they grow tired of us and start drifting away."
Gunther said this while putting down a glass of soul spirit wine.
