Chapter 638: Empire Summon
Chapter 638: Empire Summon
Brant nodded.
"Yeah, we need to. That brat didn’t even feel it was necessary to file the report of such marvelous work he did for the city. Meaning, he doesn’t expect good rewards. Moreover, he even ran away to his home city at the first moment of rest."
"Well, damn it!" Tarun slammed his glass of wine in frustration, shattering it.
His flushed face clearly said he was a bit drunk. Though, he had to reduce his body’s capabilities to astounding degrees for him to even get drunk.
This also meant he felt safe enough around Brant and Gunther to allow himself to be drunk.
"He wants better rewards, right? I will give him! I can’t afford to lose my chance to hug the thighs of a real prodigy gifted from heaven and blessed by those—tsk. I can’t even speak properly."
He swept his gaze around Brant and Gunther, whose expressions clearly said they couldn’t hear Tarun’s words properly by the end.
"Idiots, I tell you. Just getting close to him is not enough. Support and gift him as much as you can before he grows above what you can provide. Make him feel really close to you and, if possible, have him realize that you are his benefactors, so when future trouble arrives, he returns those favors and saves your weak asses."
After that, he exhaled.
"And yes, finally get strong enough so that we can talk freely."
They drank for a while, idly chatting, which naturally targeted the only married man in the group. Both Gunther and Tarun made fun of how trapped he looked, but they still couldn’t hide their jealousy from within.
"Try getting laid, old fools. Then you will understand how beautiful life is. Especially when you get to see your own reflection in your kids." Brant snorted back.
At that time, Tarun and Gunther’s phones rang.
"Tsk, already? It hasn’t even been half day of complete rest..." Saying that, Tarun looked at his phone.

Ting!

At the same time, Gunther also clicked confirm.

>Chances of victory: 68% -> 70%
They didn’t even bid farewell and simply disappeared from their places, leaving Brant alone.
"Haah... Looks like I am alone again..." Saying that, he lifted his own cup.
Ting!
"Tsk."
---
3 more days had already passed.
By now, Leo and the others had become comfortable in the city and were eagerly waiting for the convoys to arrive.
In the distance, Miho and Niri could be seen sparring with each other. Niri was only slightly smaller than Miho, around 5’1" feet. But it was clear Niri was more playing than sparring.
Leo looked towards Lily and then Kaelion. All three nodded, choosing not to talk about it.
Apparently, Lily had talked to Vritti about Miho’s parents. And it seemed like her parents actually lived in another city, which had recently been attacked by beasts, killing almost everybody. It was clear Miho’s parents had also died because Vritti’s men had checked for any surviving relatives and found none.
When Miho heard that, she only cried quietly for a while before coming out again as if nothing had changed. She had already been sold away for money by people who were supposed to be her family, so she reasoned it would be wrong to grieve about them and make the people around her, who were more like a real family to her now, worried and sad.
And now, Niri had been trying her best to bring Miho’s previous energy back.
James and Vintage had already completed the procedures for the new city lord. Now, it was only a matter of time before the case closed and things proceeded smoothly.
Even Vintage’s beast had also become Peak 2-star with Kaelion’s special pressure-point techniques, allowing the beast to digest and circulate the treasure’s energy faster making the man a Baron.
In other words, everything was complete, and everybody was waiting for the special guests.
Seeing the date, 20 April, and realizing it was their reward distribution date, Leo felt something amiss.
"Am I forgetting something?" He muttered.
"Well, must be not important."
He shrugged, forgetting that he and Lily hadn’t filed the reports of their mission.
And just like that, 3 more days passed.
"Oh? So this year, the new Dragon Empire is also participating in the Interacademy competition?" James raised his brow in interest.
Even Kaelion heard this news for the first time.
When he asked how Leo knew about it, they began chatting about the Ember Family Secret Realm Exploration.
"Oh, by the way, do you have an estimate of how valuable a [Sunblood Pearl] obtained from an Infernal Serpent’s neck sac is? I figured you might know something exact..."
At first, Kaelion let it simply go through his ears like any casual talk. But when his brain finally registered what Leo had said, his eyes widened.
"What did you say?"
"I am asking what’s the value of [Sunblood Pearl], if you know what that is."
Kaelion blinked in silence as if he had been hearing things wrong. James was simply sitting to the side, oblivious to what Leo was asking.
Kaelion collected himself.
"Oh, alright. You must be asking the value..."
Kaelion knew those pearls only took the name containing the ’Sun’ prefix if they had been harbored by a 5-star Infernal Serpent, or else the prefix was ’Inferno.’
"They have no value. It’s priceless. Matter of fact, anything capable of providing a fundamental change in one’s being is priceless, even if it is a 1-star Physique. A [Sunblood Pearl] is capable of providing a 6-star physique at the least. They are even coveted by Kings because any sort of physique is invaluable."
Leo nodded.
"Oh, but I have—"
"My Lord! Those people have come again!"
A soldier shouted from outside, sounding a bit panicked since he didn’t know the problem had already been solved with Leo and Kaelion’s presence.
