Agnivar didn’t even question Leo and immediately began descending toward the city walls.
Down below, chaos had already ensued.
"What the fuck was that?!" a man shouted as the pillar of fire launched by Leo slowly subsided and vanished from sight.
But its effect was great. In an instant, the temperature across the city rose by a few degrees.
"God damn! What in the world was that?!"
"Did some volcano erupt in the middle of the city?" one man guessed.
"Idiot! What are you even talking about? I bet some secret project the city was conducting failed."
"Hey, look! Is that a person?!" a man exclaimed after spotting Leo suddenly appear in the middle of the sky.
People’s attention immediately shifted toward him, but that reaction was short-lived because the next moment, a huge Wyvern suddenly appeared above the man.
Most faces went pale with fear the moment they recognised the beast.
"W-what the fuck?!" some shouted as they immediately began to run when they saw that the Wyvern was actually descending.
Tilgarth was a place where professionals gathered; they could tell at a glance that they were no match for a beast whose motives were unclear. The best course of action was to run and look for a safe place even if the beast later turned out to be friendly, because if it weren’t, they would already be dead before they could regret their decision.
"A Wyvern?! Where the fuck did that come from?!" people shouted as they scrambled away.
Some even ran straight out of the city gates in all four directions, while those who were yet to enter simply turned around. After all, more often than not, the appearance of a powerful, unaccounted-for beast was accompanied by news of the city’s destruction.
On the contrary, the soldiers and city guards reacted in the exact opposite manner. They drew their weapons and prepared to defend against the beast.
This was a highly unusual sight because not just a few, but almost every soldier and guard reacted the same way, as though protecting the city was their top priority—even over their own lives.
Some experienced professionals immediately noticed this anomaly and realised something was wrong with the entire city. There wouldn’t be such a collective display of bravery under normal circumstances, as most soldiers would usually try to hide as well.
They quietly withdrew, thinking that whatever the case, the safest option was to leave the city.
But there were also some professionals whose confidence swelled as they saw the soldiers standing their ground. They too drew their weapons, hoping to earn rewards for defending the city.
But...
ROOOAAARRRRR!
Fhhhhoooosssshhhhhh!!
Agnivar had already reached one of the towers along the city walls and immediately unleashed his [Inferno Breath].
BOOM! BOOM! Boom! Boom!
A series of explosions erupted across the towers, causing them to collapse and burn fiercely within seconds. Soldiers cried out in pain, only to die the very next moment.
Swwwooosssh--Crrriipppp!
Agnivar didn’t stop his flame breath. He simply shifted its direction along the top of the city walls, razing the pathway the soldiers used to patrol.
Skreeeeeeehhhh!
Agnivar let out a deafening roar, soared into the sky with a powerful glide, flapped his wings, and dove toward the next tower, repeating the same attack.
Any arrows or magic attacks launched at him were completely useless against his tough scales. As for the massive ballista bolts stationed at regular intervals along the walls, they were a breeze for Agnivar to dodge.
Not even a minute had passed, yet a handful of towers had already been reduced to rubble.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no..." one adventurer, who had drawn his bow to attack Agni, staggered back at the sight before turning and sprinting toward the nearest city gate to get the hell out of there.
And he wasn’t alone. Everybody’s bravery and greed for rewards died the moment Agni burned through towers made of dense stone as though they were paper.
Except for the soldiers, everybody else was already running away at full speed.
As for Leo, he was already on the ground beside the same hole he appeared through as kill notifications flooded his vision.

Not a single kill notification belonged to a normal individual since Agni was flying along the city walls, where only soldiers were stationed.
For a brief second, Leo shared Agni’s senses and realised that even the people working inside shops and the city’s native residents had come out with weapons. Those without weapons had simply grown their nails into long dark claws with a shade of pink.
In other words, not a single normal citizen in this city was to be spared.
The last thing Leo needed to determine was whether the officials and workers inside the various guild buildings, such as the Adventurer’s Guild and Beast Hall, had also been corrupted or were still real people.
But he set that matter aside. Right now, he needed to deal with the large number of people converging toward his location to kill him.
"Well, knowing the academy, they are making me accustomed to killing people so that I don’t break down at the extremes. Might be useless for me, but someone like Lily..." he thought.
"Hmm, not Lily, but people like Marco, that 11th-ranked girl Cecil, and many others sure need these experiences."
"Bastard!! Who the hell are you?!" A person shouted while charging with a long spear.
"Shit! Did someone leak the information about the city being overtaken by us?!" Another cursed while charging a magical attack from a distance.
As Leo spoke, he raised his palm toward a random direction. Wind energy rapidly condensed into his hand before he made a wide, razor-sharp swipe through the air horizontally—parallel to the ground at waist height.
One moment, the soldiers and people were only a few meters away from reaching Leo.
The next moment, those same people found their upper bodies missing.
From a bird’s-eye view, it looked as though a triangular slice had been carved out of a circular pie.
But instead of cream and cake, the pie consisted of a swathe of people converging toward Leo’s location, while the sliced triangular section was made up of those same part of people—now all missing their upper halves, staining the area red.
