The wind blade kept widening as it travelled in a straight path, cutting through everything in its path. No flesh or armour could withstand its razor-sharp edge; they existed only to be sliced apart like vegetables.
Not even the buildings were spared. Everything was cut apart.

But the wind blade was not the only thing Leo had released with a swipe of his hand. It was followed by an extremely powerful gust of wind that blew away the upper halves of bodies and buildings alike.
Thud! Thud! Thud...
The lower halves of the severed bodies collapsed onto the ground with dull thuds, while the sliced tops of buildings were hurled into the sky, only to crash into other buildings and destroy them as well.
The soldiers charging toward Leo stopped dead in their tracks, but before they could even process what had happened, they found their upper halves missing.

Leo was completely ruthless. He didn’t leave a single person alive within a 3-kilometre radius.
Bodies and buildings flew around like fallen leaves caught in a storm, while the entire ground was stained red with the demons’ blood. The severed bodies bled so profusely that streams of blood flowed down slopes and through the city’s drainage systems.
Leo did all of this within 2 minutes, and an entire 3-kilometre radius was razed to the ground.

This time, Leo ended up killing some humans who were caught in the crossfire.
Leo exhaled slowly. There was nothing he could do. In other words, he needed to get used to this, just as the academy intended.
For students like Kaelion, Uraan Aaron, Ronan, and many others, the task of simply destroying a city would actually be much easier because they wouldn’t know whether they were killing demons or humans, unlike Leo, who received the system’s notifications.
Their simple job was the total destruction of a city that was supposed to be completely filled with demons. Even if they could tell that a few professionals were actually normal humans, they would only save them and kill the rest, believing they were all demons. In other words, they wouldn’t carry that burden on their minds while also getting accustomed to killing human-like figures, so that when the time actually came to kill real humans while fully knowing they were human, it would be much easier for them.
But for Leo, he knew exactly what he was killing from the first day itself, evident from how he kept staring at the string of notifications that appeared one after another.
Leo sighed.
"Are the higher-ups preparing us for something big?" he muttered, recalling how many students had died during the academy trial.
But Leo didn’t carry much burden, especially since he already had plenty of experience killing humans with his own hands as a soldier in his previous life. It was rather easy here. People died without him even knowing where exactly they had died because of the sheer range of his attacks.
There was no trauma of watching a begging, groaning, or pleading person die before his eyes.
He distracted himself by observing the difference in the kill notifications.
There were two types of notifications.

He also recalled the kill notifications of the goons sent by Zolton.

"Hmm, hunters seem to have different kill notifications..." he muttered, narrowing his eyes as he recalled the difference between hunters and adventurers.
"Talents? Adventurers and most mercenaries have talents, while hunters don’t..."
It was quite the sight to see Leo standing amidst a corpse-filled playground, where more than a thousand people lay dead around him, while he contemplated the difference between hunters and adventurers.
At that moment, Lily emerged from the hole beside him with the other captives, lifting them upward with wind magic. Judging from their expressions, it was obvious they were terrified and had witnessed something they never should have.
But those expressions stiffened the moment they saw the devastation surrounding Leo. Some even fainted on the spot.
It was then that Leo noticed the destruction taking place underground.
Lily had actually left the Hydra underground to kill anybody in sight while using the Earth element to widen the tunnels and search the area.
But the Hydra chose the easier approach and used water magic to completely flood the underground channels.
Raging water surged through the entire underground network of the city, drowning every living being trapped inside who couldn’t escape in time.
When Lily saw Leo standing at the centre of the destruction, lost in thought, she immediately descended.
"Leo, I think I will fail the task you gave me," she said.
"I cannot figure out who the real humans are and who the demons are," she continued sadly.
Leo placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Don’t let this weigh on your mind. We are not omnipotent. Let’s treat this as a lesson so we make fewer and fewer mistakes in the future. The deaths of innocents are inevitable because we don’t have the power to distinguish demons from humans. In other words, we will bear the burden of killing innocent people ourselves and use it as the driving force to reach greater heights, so things like this won’t happen again," Leo said, looking straight into Lily’s eyes.
"And if we let some demons go thinking they were humans, the damages they will cause will be much greater than what we are doing now."
Lily nodded with the same determination in her eyes.
"Alright. But I promise I’ll figure out a way soon. I don’t know why, but I feel like I’m capable of doing it. I just need to work a little harder!"
Leo nodded in return as a silent understanding passed between them.
Without another word, they both rose high into the sky, and Lily lifted Patric and the others along with them because what they were about to do couldn’t guarantee anyone’s safety outside the city walls. If even outside the walls wasn’t safe, then safety inside the city was impossible.
