Chapter 625: Letter
Chapter 625: Letter
"Did you complete your mission?"
That was the first question an assistant professor asked the moment Leo and Lily appeared.
"Yes, we did," Leo replied.
"Good, show me your Academy Badge so that I can register your return," he said.
The assistant professor didn’t seem to know that he was currently talking to the 1st and 3rd ranked freshmen because of their disguises.
Though Lily had already removed the fake collar, her black hair and eyes made her indistinguishable from any other woman who simply seemed to have exceptional looks and height.
As for Leo, he looked like any man in his mid-forties, just as his disguise was meant to.
As the professor prepared to register them, he informed them,
"You’ll need to wait till 20th April to get your rewards for completing the mission based on your performance. You cannot expect us to just believe your words witho—cough! Cough!"
The assistant professor had to stop mid-sentence because when he scanned the badge, it displayed Leo and Lily’s ranks, and he immediately realized who they were.
"Excuse me, so what I was saying is that the reward distribution is scheduled on 20th April since we will need time to select the best possible rewards depending on your performance. And yes, don’t forget to file a report on what sorts of things you discovered during your mission, a good report will get you more better rewards." he said with a smile, his tone making a complete 180-degree turn.
Both Leo and Lily nodded.
"Proceed to that room to get your disguises removed." The professor pointed towards a specific room attached to the Aurelius Hall.
At that, Leo asked,
"What about our Aura suppression that makes it seem like we are ranked lower?"
The professor shook his head.
"Unfortunately, the specialist responsible for that has already departed from the academy. But there is no need to worry. Your auras will return to normal before the Inter-Academy Competition starts. And in the meantime, it doesn’t hinder any of your abilities," the professor explained.
Then, as if sensing something, he narrowed his eyes.
"Hmm, it seems that your suppression is already lifting. It must be because you used powers far above the level your suppression shows. According to me, you will be back to normal within a week or a little more than that."
"Alright, there is also another thing that I would like to ask."
"What is it?"
"I gave my Teleportation Talisman to some people who might use it to come here, and their number might go over twenty. I don’t think there should be any problem if they hold hands and try teleporting together with one talisman?"
The professor shook his head.
"No problem with that. Are they some new territory recruits that you invited?"
"Yes, and they have the teleportation token of my territory as identification. So when they come, have them directly teleported to my territory and send the charges to me through an invoice."
The professor nodded and quickly typed something into his pad.
"What is their estimated arrival time?"
"Six months."
"Alright, everything is done. As for the teleportation charges, the talisman you gave was a special one distributed for missions, which can teleport people for free. So only the cost of teleporting people from the academy to your territory will be charged," the professor explained, after which Leo and Lily went to get their disguises removed.
They admiring their original appearances for a while and then Lily spoke.
"Leo, I need to buy some more clothes for Niri and a few gifts before we go back to Kendru. See you later!"
With that, Lily walked away towards the necessary shops, while Leo headed to the library to get answers to some of the questions he had gotten from this mission.
The first was from the system itself.
System, is there some sort of limit to learning skills on my own?
>A being’s skill learning capability is directly related to its soul rank. The higher a person’s soul rank, the easier it is to manifest a skill’s imagination physically. It also makes it easier for the body to build and alter mana pathways for any skill that directly relates to the skill’s power output, thus increasing damage.
What about the number of skills? Is there any limitation on the number of skills that can be learned?
Leo asked this because, from his experience, he could create multiple skills in an instant. But it would become very troublesome later on if he suddenly hit a limitation stating that he had learned the maximum number of skills he could possess.
>A being’s recorded personal skill holding capacity is also directly related to the soul rank, following the formula 2x+5.
Hmm? The formula is the same as beast taming slots? Leo thought.
But if that were the case, then he already had 24 copied skills, and according to the formula, he could only have 29 skills.
When he asked the same thing of the system, he was relieved by the answer.
>This formula is for the personal skill set. Any burden of copied skills from another individual is borne by that individual, not the host.
If that’s the case, then I only have four personal skills...
But at that moment, the system gave another pleasant response.
>A being can let go of its recorded skills and make space for new skills.
"Hm?"
This was new.
But when Leo asked for further clarification, the system refused to open its mouth.
The other thing Leo wanted to know was about demons.
He had heard them talking about how older and stronger humans made better vessels for incarnation. And he knew that answer wouldn’t be available from the system, so he headed towards the library.
When he flipped through the pages, he was shocked to learn that a demon’s hierarchy depended on age and strength, unlike humans, where both strength and the amount of territory under one’s control were factors.
When he tried learning about the specifics, he was disappointed to realize that the rest of the information was on the sixth floor onwards, which he was restricted from entering.
By now, night had already fallen, and he reunited with Lily to teleport back to the territory together.
When they got back, the first thing they did was discreetly slip into their house and sleep through the whole night in the comfortable bed they had been separated from for more than three weeks.
The next morning, they quickly freshened up and checked their phones to see if there was any message about a letter that had arrived for them.
And there it was—a reply letter from Kendru City waiting to be received. It had arrived a week earlier.
Lily quickly placed the parcel order for the letter to be delivered to their territory, and in the meantime, they went to check on the territory’s condition.
