Chapter 85: Bloodline
"Of course, this only applies to the human energy path."
"What do you mean by the human energy path only? Is there another energy path besides the human one?" Rios asked in shock, feeling that something had been overlooked all this time... or perhaps forgotten.
"Of course, sir. Besides the human energy path, there is also the monster energy path." Lily sat on Rios’s shoulder with a smile.
"The monster energy path?!" Rios’s shock deepened after hearing this. He hesitated for a moment before asking again,
"Lily, what’s the difference between the human energy path and the monster energy path?"
Lily looked at Rios for a moment, then placed a finger on her chin and replied calmly,
"Sir, both paths share the same core, but the difference lies in how they advance." She smiled and raised a finger.
"For example, the human energy path relies on comprehending laws and potions to advance and break through from one Level to a higher one.
"As for the monster energy path, it relies on refining the bloodline and bloodline memories to advance to higher Levels."
She then frowned slightly as she looked at him.
"But why are you asking questions like these, sir...?"
Then she covered her mouth.
"Could it be that your planet doesn’t have monsters, so you’re unfamiliar with even such basic things...?
"But that can’t be possible, can it...? There isn’t a single living planet without monsters. Besides, you’ve exchanged monster cores for Prime before.
"So you definitely know about them."
What Lily didn’t know was that Rios’s world was indeed filled with monsters.
However, Rios himself had only been in that world for less than a month.
As for all the monster cores he had exchanged, he hadn’t obtained them personally. They were the accumulated reserves of his people.
Moreover, he had barely had enough time since arriving in that world to study the laws, let alone venture into the wilderness to study monsters.
Faced with Lily’s question, Rios remained silent for a long moment without saying a word.
The shock on his face was unmistakable...
Potions? Bloodline refinement? Bloodline memories?
As a monster who had been walking the human path, had he really been ignorant of all these things?
System... System...?
Rios called out inwardly several times, but there was no response.
When he realized that the system only reacted inside The Eternal Night Heaven at certain moments...
He finally gave up and turned back to Lily.
"Lily, what do the bloodline memories related to the Bloodline Essence have to do with the bloodline memories related to advancing through the monster energy path?!"
What had truly caught Rios’s attention in Lily’s words wasn’t the potions or bloodline refinement...
It was something the system had mentioned before, when Rios had reached the peak of Master Level (3).
Back then, the system had told him that he had awakened his Bloodline Essence and could undergo the Bloodline Trial...
It had also told him that both the Bloodline Essence and the Bloodline Trial were connected to bloodline memories...
"Sir, the bloodline memories related to the Bloodline Essence are one type of Bloodline Memories, and they are obtained the moment the Bloodline Essence is awakened.
"And the bloodline memories related to advancing through the monster energy path are also a type of Bloodline Memories." Lily smiled, clasped her hands behind her back, and slowly nodded as she stood there.
"Bloodline Memories...?" Rios frowned, feeling that he was missing something important.
"Explain it in more detail."
"Bloodline Memories, sir, are a type of memory carried within one’s bloodline across generations, much like memories of personality traits and instinct.
"But what makes them different is that they are responsible for passing down memories related to cultivation, refinement, and the legacy left behind by ancestors after they reach Immortality." Lily tilted her head slightly and continued,
"The moment a living being is born, whether human or monster, it receives a certain portion of its Bloodline Memories. Naturally, the amount depends on the Level of that being’s bloodline."
She then floated around Rios’s neck while lying on her back.
"Then, every time that being achieves a certain breakthrough or awakens its Bloodline Essence, it receives another portion of memories. Of course, that depends on the rules and strength of its bloodline." Lily shrugged with a smile.
"But that only applies to Original Bloodlines."
"Original Bloodlines? What’s that?" Rios raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"The term Original Bloodline, sir, refers to a bloodline that hasn’t been tainted by other bloodlines.
"For example, humans whose blood has mutated due to monster blood, allowing them to gain some of that monster’s traits and part of its talent.
"Such humans do not obtain that monster’s Bloodline Memories because they are not of the same species or lineage.
"Even if that monster’s bloodline flows through their veins, something still prevents those memories from being passed on.
"The same applies to monsters that obtain the blood of different monster species and evolve because of it.
"For example, certain reptiles that acquire part of a dragon’s bloodline...
"They may inherit part of the bloodline and the talent that comes with it, but they will never obtain the dragon’s Bloodline Memories."
Lily then raised a finger.
"However, if one of those humans whose bodies mutated because of monster blood—or even one of those monsters that evolved through a higher bloodline—reaches the Immortal Level, they can then create Bloodline Memories of their own and pass them on to their descendants."
Lily placed her hands behind her back and smiled at Rios.
"Is that explanation enough, sir, or would you like me to explain more?"
"No, no, that’s enough." Rios waved both hands quickly before placing one hand on his head.
He felt a headache coming on as he tried to process all these questions.
Worse still, those questions had opened the door to hundreds of new ones.
And if he wanted answers to all of them, even an entire month of questions and answers wouldn’t be enough.
So he decided that what he had learned was enough for now.
The rest could wait until the future.
After all, he would eventually learn it sooner or later.
There was no need to rush.
With that thought, Rios calmed himself and began reflecting on everything he had learned from Lily.
