Chapter 128: The Array
Rios accelerated at a crazy rate, and soon he was right in front of Elena!
Star Pressure!
Before Rios’s claw could reach Elena’s face, a powerful pressure descended upon him, and a small golden star appeared above him, gradually increasing the pressure over his head.
Elena immediately retreated when the opportunity presented itself and used another attack.
Star Shards!
Circular rings made of golden sparks appeared from Elena’s body and immediately shot toward Rios!
Path Break!
Rios used his ability again, causing the paths of the golden rings to deviate, then stopped where he was without attacking again!
"What? Have you given up?" Elena stood there, surprised by Rios’s sudden stop, and breathed heavily!
"No, but your body won’t be able to hold out for long while you are using the Cosmic Law of Stars. You haven’t broken through to Level Four yet." Rios shook his head, showing concern.
It was true that Elena completely understood the first degree of the Cosmic Law of Stars, but she was still only at Level Three.
Her body and Energy Core were not yet prepared to withstand the use of the first degree of a cosmic law.
It was true that she could continue fighting for a little longer, but signs of exhaustion had already begun to appear on her!
"Then what about you? You are also using the first degree of your cosmic law." Elena was displeased with Rios’s response, and she put her hands on her waist and puffed out her cheeks!
"I am different from you." Rios shook his head and explained, "I possess an Immortal-grade mutated bloodline in both the Cosmic Law of Derivation and the Cosmic Law of Life, meaning that I have one hundred percent affinity with these laws. Therefore, I can use the first degree of my laws without much difficulty, with less effort and less energy."
"Hmm!"
Elena narrowed her eyes slightly while looking at Rios, but in the end, she shrugged her shoulders. "If you’re going to stop here, then what will you do next?"
"I originally intended to try several other laws and my abilities in the Soul Path, but it seems that it won’t be useful now." Rios shook his head in disappointment, then smiled and pointed toward Elena. "But I have some new ideas that can be implemented!"
"New ideas? What are they?" Elena crossed her arms together and raised an eyebrow.
"You’ll know when the time comes, but first, let’s go to the city’s defensive array." Rios winked at Elena with a smile and extended his hand toward her.
"Let’s go." Elena immediately ran over and held his hand like a child, and the two of them walked together toward the royal palace.
In a heavily guarded room inside the royal palace, Rios stood in front of a tree trunk about two meters tall, surrounded by numerous symbols and runes, with dozens of roots extending into the ground beneath it!
This was the heart of the defensive array of the City of Light, which the Tree of Cradle had left behind to protect the City of Light before leaving.
"It is said that the Tree of Cradle merged tens of thousands of giant trees together and used the Law of Formation to create this array."
Rios extended his hand and touched the trunk while circling around it.
"Because I didn’t understand the Cosmic Law of Formation before, I couldn’t study you properly, but now I can!"
Rios furrowed his brows and placed his hand on the trunk, sending his spiritual sense through it while following the roots to see where they reached.
Rios couldn’t do something like this before, but now that he had acquired immense soul power, it had become easy for him.
As he followed these roots, he found that they branched into hundreds of roots, then thousands of smaller ones, eventually reaching the city walls and growing over them.
"It seemed suspicious to me before. How was the Immortal Tree of Cradle able to create such a gigantic array with this much power!"
Rios rubbed his chin with his hand and smiled when he finally understood how the defensive array worked.
"But it seems so simple now."
"And how does the array work?!" Elena, standing to the side, asked curiously.
Rios looked at her and explained excitedly, "It’s actually quite simple. After merging tens of thousands of giant trees together, she reformed them into this trunk, from which thousands of roots branch out. Then, she sent all these roots beneath the ground until they reached the walls.
Using the roots as a template, she carved the array symbols onto them.
And by consuming the fuel in this room, the array is activated." Rios pointed toward enormous glass containers filled with a white liquid substance and connected to the tree trunk.
"The method of creating the array is very clever, and its function is even more ingenious.
Part of the roots located on the city walls is responsible for attracting the natural energy in the atmosphere, while the other part is responsible for using the Cosmic Law of Formation to transform that energy into a gigantic shield that completely covers the city, with the walls serving as its boundaries." He then smiled as if he had found the best game in the world and pointed toward the roots extending from the trunk.
"As for these roots beneath the ground, they are responsible for regeneration and replacing the roots on the walls if they suffer any damage." Then he pointed toward the trunk.
"As for this hero, he is the main character controlling everything." Rios slapped the trunk hard while laughing.
Baaam!
"Genius... the Tree of Cradle really was a genius. She didn’t create one array, but four arrays in one!
One represents the main brain that controls everything.
The second represents the heart that replaces the missing and damaged parts.
The third forcibly attracts energy from the atmosphere and gathers it above the city.
And the fourth reconstructs that energy into extremely sturdy shields.
They all complement one another and work in perfect harmony without any repulsion or conflict.
All of this using this tiny amount of fuel!"
Rios’s eyes shone with excitement with every new piece of information he spoke, as if he had discovered a treasure!
On the side, Elena’s eyes widened slightly when she understood some of Rios’s words, but in the end, she furrowed her brows slightly.
"If this array has reached such a degree of perfection, what are you going to do with it? And I don’t think even the Tree of Cradle could improve it any further unless she had surpassed Level Four... that is, if she is still alive to this day."
Facing this question, Rios laughed confidently while holding the tree trunk.
"Hahahaha, even if she were still alive today, no one in this world has reached Level Five yet.
And if the Tree of Cradle can’t improve it, I can!"
