"Let’s go."

Landon saw that it was about time, so he waved his hand, leading the group away from the area.

It was getting late, but they still traveled a long way in the direction they had come from. A Necromancer could likely sense when their created Undead Creatures were killed, so to be safe, they needed to get far away.

They didn’t stop until night fell completely, having put nearly twenty to thirty kilometers between them and the battlefield. They then found a suitable spot nearby to make camp.

Even though it was late and everyone was exhausted, the necessary preparations could not be skipped.

Checking the surroundings for Demons, setting traps, starting a fire, and scattering powder to repel insects, snakes, and other beasts...

As Adventurers, they couldn’t let their guard down for a moment in the wild, no matter how strong they were.

Only after all these preparations were complete did everyone eat something, arrange the night watch, and turn in to sleep.

Lin Mo, just like yesterday, didn’t rush to sleep. Instead, he first spent some time in Meditation.

[Basic Meditation Skill] Skill Level +1

[Basic Meditation Skill] Skill Level +1

Through repeated practice, Lin Mo had gradually discovered some patterns regarding the Basic Meditation Skill.

Whenever he entered Meditation right after a battle, having used a lot of Magic, or when his Spirit was particularly weary, the Skill Level would increase faster for the first little while.

But as time went on and his Spirit gradually recovered, the increase in Skill Level would slow down.

The skill also seemed to have a slight effect on increasing his Magic Power and Spirit, but the boost was so pitifully small that it was hard to notice without paying close attention.

Trying to raise his Attributes through Meditation would be a process measured in months, at least.

After a short period of Meditation, his mind clear and relaxed, Lin Mo lay down in his sleeping bag and quickly fell asleep.

The next day, everyone woke up a bit later than usual.

After packing up and eating breakfast, they eagerly hurried toward Silver Stream City.

’Finally, we can go home...’

Even for skilled Adventurers like them, every expedition was a challenge.

At the end of the day, this was a job—a relatively free one, but one that was incredibly arduous and could cost them their lives at any moment.

Only the reward from completing a mission could soothe their weary bodies and minds.

Of course, the various other gains and personal growth experienced on their journeys were also reasons why so many flocked to become Adventurers.

Lin Mo liked this job, especially since he had his Skill Level panel.

As long as you worked hard enough, you could improve. You could see yourself progressing, little by little.

This was a dream that countless people could only wish for...

Morning dew dripped from the branches, the cool droplets dampening his hair. Lin Mo gently brushed a fallen leaf from his shoulder and, facing the rising sun ahead, set off on the road home.

...

"Did something happen, Cres?"

The woman, who was in her forties, was well-preserved and still possessed some of the pretty charm of her youth, but the fine lines at the corners of her eyes betrayed her age.

Cres stood before her, glancing at the handsome but numb-faced young man by her side.

"It’s nothing major... just that one of the pieces we placed near Silver Stream City seems to have been removed."

"Of course, it was just an insignificant piece. It won’t affect our plans, esteemed Madam Lawrence."

Cres adjusted the black hat on his head. His arms were rail-thin, like those of a dried-up corpse, yet his movements were surprisingly graceful. A false smile played on his wrinkled face.

"Beixila..."

Viscountess Caroline Lawrence murmured the name, her eyes filled with contempt and disdain.

"The ignorant fool. To abandon her noble status, to give up the supreme glory of the name Auswiss, and come to this backwater of the Doria Kingdom... How laughable..."

Cres’s expression immediately grew serious. "You never told me that Lady Beixila of Silver Stream City once bore such a title."

"Don’t be so tense, Cres."

Caroline waved her hand dismissively. "That’s all in the past. As I said, she has abandoned that glory, abandoned that surname. Now she is just Ravel, a Kingdom Viscount who couldn’t possibly be more Ordinary."

Cres smiled. "Perhaps you’re right... However, it seems this Lady Ravel has been taking a great interest in our affairs lately, has she not?"

"Hmph, that’s probably because of that little brat from Saint Antonia Academy!"

Caroline gripped the bell in front of her, savoring his pained expression. "If it weren’t for that student of hers who’s hell-bent on getting herself killed, our plan would be proceeding much more smoothly."

Cres glanced again at the handsome young man, whose face was now twisted in pain.

"So, shall we give them a little warning?"

"Our progress has slowed considerably lately, what with having to evade the investigation."

"Be patient, Cres."

Caroline didn’t seem anxious. "We’ve already done more than enough. Now, all we have to do is wait for everything to come to fruition..."

"Of course, if you’re truly bored, I won’t stop you from having a little fun. After all... we are merely partners."

Cres shook his head. "I just think that rather than letting them continue their investigation, it would be better to proactively throw out some bait and create some trouble for them. With just a small sacrifice, we could leave them too busy to deal with anything else."
