Chapter 318 - 186: Shefilya’s Master
After dinner, it was naturally time for sparring.
As before, Lin Mo and Shefilya arrived in the small courtyard. Shefilya bowed slightly and gestured for him to begin.
Lin Mo immediately activated his Resilience and Lightness skills, then took the initiative and attacked.
Compared to their last sparring session, Lin Mo’s power had increased significantly. Shefilya could sense this quite clearly, but for her, there was still no pressure to speak of.
But for some reason, as they fought, her thoughts couldn’t help but drift elsewhere.
Especially during the occasional moments of physical contact with Lin Mo, the words her mother had said to her that morning would suddenly pop into her head. Her movements would then become sluggish, and she would even start to zone out.
"What’s wrong?"
Lin Mo apparently noticed this too. Thinking she wasn’t feeling well, he stopped and asked with concern.
"It’s nothing..."
Shefilya shook her head. "I apologize."
She offered no further explanation, immediately throwing herself back into the sparring session.
Shefilya’s skills were as sharp as ever. Once she got serious, Lin Mo was immediately put at a disadvantage.
However, this was exactly the kind of pressure he needed. Facing Shefilya’s relentless, tide-like offensive rhythm, Lin Mo did his best to keep up with her movements to defend, even looking for an opportunity to counter-attack.
This was, of course, extremely difficult. Most of the time, he was simply taking a one-sided beating.
But because of this, the Skill Level of his [Resilience] skill was also steadily increasing.
Also increasing steadily was his [Lightness] skill, which was already close to reaching Full Level.
Most of the afternoon dedicated to sparring passed quickly. As the sun began to set, Lin Mo finally stopped, panting for breath, his body already drenched in sweat.
Shefilya didn’t look entirely at ease either. Although she was the stronger party and this wasn’t what she would consider a real battle—meaning she expended relatively little energy—Shefilya was, after all, of the Assassin Profession, not a monster like Lin Mo. Her Physique Attribute wasn’t particularly high, so her Endurance wasn’t especially excellent.
"Thank you."
Lin Mo caught his breath for a moment and thanked her very sincerely.
If it weren’t for Shefilya, it would have been difficult for him to find a suitable partner to help him train.
Shefilya frowned and looked as though she was about to say something.
Lin Mo could perfectly imagine what she was about to say, so he cut in first. "I know, there’s no need for formalities. But I’ll say it again... You have your way of thinking, and I have mine. You’re Feney’s Maid, after all, not mine. So when you help me, it’s only natural that I thank you."
Shefilya opened her mouth to speak several times, but ultimately held her words back, saying nothing.
’Now is not the time...’
’But some things need to be made clearer.’
’Otherwise, this future "master" of mine probably hasn’t figured out the situation at all.’
Covered in sweat, Lin Mo naturally needed to take a shower before dinner.
He wouldn’t do it at the City Lord’s Mansion, however. He decided to go straight back to his own manor.
Shefilya and Ali came back with him.
Of course, they didn’t forget to swing by the Adventurer’s Association on the way to pick up Lena, who was getting off work.
After they got home, Lena hurried into the yard to tend to the plants she was growing. Ali went with her, and the two girls chatted together out there.
Meanwhile, Lin Mo went back to his room, undressed, and stepped into the bathroom.
A high-end manor like this was naturally equipped with a special Magic Energy Device that, much like modern plumbing, allowed hot water to flow directly from the showerhead.
Warm water cascaded down from above, washing over his body. Although he had already performed a simple cleansing with the [Clear Stream Technique], it just wasn’t the same as taking a real shower.
Lin Mo let out a long, relaxed sigh. While enjoying the stream of water, he opened his status panel. He didn’t rush to read the notifications he had just skipped over, but first glanced at the Skill Level for his Resilience skill.
[Resilience] Level 5 (129/180)
Compared to skills whose Skill Level could be raised simply by killing monsters, a skill like [Resilience] was considerably harder for Lin Mo to train.
He’d had the skill for quite a while, but forget about evolving it; it hadn’t even reached Level 6 yet.
And as an Excellent Level skill, it wouldn’t reach its Full Level until Level 7.
’Such a long way to go...’
But where there was bad news, there was also good. While [Resilience], an Excellent Level skill, was naturally difficult to train, his progress with [Lightness]—a similar skill—was much faster. For one, the training method for [Lightness] was simpler than for [Resilience]. For another, it was, after all, only an Ordinary Level skill.
As a result, it had successfully reached its Full Level during the afternoon’s sparring session.
"Skill [Lightness] Level 4 (100/100) Upgraded!"
"Current Skill: [Lightness] Level 5 (Max)"
"Obtained Attribute Points: Agility +2!"
"Automatically evolved into New Skill—[Swift]!"
"Skill Comprehended: [Swift]! Obtained Attribute Points: Agility +2!"
Maxing out the skill, combined with gaining the new one, provided Lin Mo with a total of 4 Agility Attribute points.
And so, Lin Mo’s Basic Agility Attribute now stood at 47 points.
The upgraded version of the [Lightness] skill had an equally concise name: [Swift].
[Swift]: Consumes a certain amount of Qi and Blood to grant you lighter footwork, increasing movement speed by 10%, and allows consumption of additional Qi and Blood to gain an extra 20% burst of instantaneous speed!
