It was clearly far more organized and fortified than the defenses back in Silver Moon Town.

Everything was ready. They were just waiting for the Goblins to attack.

Time ticked by. Just as the intelligence department had predicted, as the sun was about to set and the last rays of twilight lingered at the edges of their vision, furtive figures began to appear ahead, cloaked by the encroaching darkness.

These must have been the Goblin Scouts sent to probe the way. Upon spotting them, the Adventurers with the Ranger Profession immediately nocked their bows. Sharp arrows flew toward the Goblins that had revealed themselves, piercing their bodies with great precision.

The Goblins’ wretched screams marked the beginning of the defensive battle. Immediately after, a rumbling sound echoed from the distance.

It was the sound of Goblin footsteps. Their immense numbers and chaotic pace made the very ground seem to tremble.

"Well, that’s a lot of them."

Landon grumbled, tightening his grip on his Magic Staff. His expression turned serious; he had clearly entered a combat-ready state.

Lin Mo was also rubbing his hands together, ready to do some serious grinding.

He opened his panel and glanced at his current Skill Proficiency progress. The first thing to grind in this wave was, naturally, his Magic skills.

Lin Mo looked at a few key Skills: Flame Linked Stars, Flaming Arrow, Blizzard, and Wind-Binding Blade.

Aside from Flaming Arrow, which needed to be prioritized for leveling up and evolving, the other Skills were all considered AoE abilities, making them perfectly suited for a situation with so many enemies.

The footsteps of the Goblin Army grew closer and closer. Gradually, under the last rays of the setting sun, rows of dark figures appeared in their line of sight.

"Prepare for battle!"

The person in charge of this small area was an old acquaintance of theirs.

It was Torren, the one who had gone with them to the Cave before.

Perhaps because of the trials he had experienced in the Cave last time, Torren seemed much more composed than before.

Following Torren’s reminder, the ranged Adventurers, like the Rangers and Mages, all readied themselves for battle.

The Goblin Army drew near, and the Rangers already had their crossbows aimed. The instant the Goblins entered their range, the sound of vibrating strings filled the air. Not many arrows were loosed—there weren’t many people here, after all—but every single Arrow struck a Goblin with pinpoint accuracy. Without exception, each was an instant kill.

Those assigned to this location were, at a minimum, Adventurers close to the Professional Level. For them, dealing with these most Ordinary Goblins was incredibly simple.

Compared to the twenty-odd Ranger Professionals, the number of Mage Professionals seemed rather pitiful.

Even including Lin Mo, there were only three in total.

One of the other two was Landon; the other was a Level 2 Mage Professional.

None of the three acted immediately. Compared to the Rangers with their ample supply of arrows, a Mage’s Magic Power was obviously far more precious.

Only when the Goblins began to draw closer, pushing through the rain of arrows as their numbers swelled, did Lin Mo finally make the first move.

However, he didn’t use his two Excellent Level Skills. Instead, he started with a [Wind-Binding Blade].

The number of Goblins in front of him wasn’t that high yet, and the Skill Level gained from killing these Ordinary Goblins with an Excellent Level Skill would be reduced. Therefore, using a low-cost, pseudo-AoE Skill like [Wind-Binding Blade] was the most suitable choice at this time.

This was the advantage of having many Skills; in most situations, Lin Mo always had a suitable Skill to use.

He cast [Wind-Binding Blade], and with his exquisite control, it accurately struck an area where the Goblins were densely packed.

The two or three Goblins hit by the Wind Blade were the first to have their heads chopped off.

Immediately after, the dispersing wind blades formed a Vortex with a powerful pull, sucking in several nearby Goblins and tearing them to shreds.

With just that one cast, his Skill Level had increased by 9 points.

At the same time, seeing Lin Mo make his move, Landon and the other Mage also began casting spells.

Landon started by casting a few Wind Blades. The other Mage was an Earth Mage; several Earth Spikes suddenly erupted from the ground, impaling the Goblins they hit. Goblins in the surrounding area were also affected, thrown into the air by the sudden spikes. The sheer force of the impact was enough to displace their internal organs, causing them to vomit blood and die.

The Ordinary Goblins stood almost no chance against these powerful Adventurers.

But they still did not retreat. Like cannon fodder, they just kept charging forward, wearing down the Adventurers’ arrows and Magic Power.

This was the Goblins’ simplest, most mindless, and yet most difficult tactic to counter. They simply overwhelmed with numbers. You couldn’t just let them be, but if you wasted Physical Strength or Magic Power to kill them, they won.

It was, as they say, a straightforward gambit with no real counter.

After a few more casts of [Wind-Binding Blade], Lin Mo’s Skill leveled up directly.
