Lin Mo nodded. "I understand."

He opened the potion bottle and, just as Shefilya had instructed, drank half of it. Then, he recapped the bottle and set it aside.

Lin Mo closed his eyes and sat cross-legged. He soon felt the half-portion of Flame Reagent he had just consumed begin to take effect. A searing energy rapidly condensed in his lower abdomen before spreading throughout his body.

The searing energy was immense, far more than Lin Mo had expected. His entire body felt as if it were on fire, accompanied by a faint, burning pain.

Lin Mo quickly mobilized his Magic Power to resonate with the Ice and Water Elements, using their power to balance the excessive Fire Element’s strength within his body.

This was clearly effective. The progression of the searing heat slowed noticeably, but the Flame Reagent’s medicinal power wasn’t fading that quickly. For now, he had only managed to prevent the situation from worsening.

The elemental energies gradually achieved a delicate balance, but maintaining it consumed Lin Mo’s Magic Power at an extremely rapid rate.

His body felt like a furnace, yet the Ice and Water Elements he resonated with enveloped it completely. This ordeal of ice and fire was truly awful, causing Lin Mo immense discomfort.

’Thank goodness for Shefilya’s warning. This is what happens after only half a bottle... I don’t even want to imagine what would have happened if I’d drunk the whole thing at once.’

’The immense Fire Elemental Energy would have probably burned my insides.’

As the medicinal power gradually faded, the scorching sensation finally began to subside. Lin Mo breathed a sigh of relief. He continued to circulate his Magic Power, but instead of resonating with the Ice and Water Elements, he began to adapt to and assimilate the sudden surge of Fire Elemental Energy inside him.

Through this gradual integration, his Fire Element Affinity slowly began to rise.

"HUUUU..."

After a long while, Lin Mo let out a heavy breath and opened his eyes.

’It’s finally over... and that was only the first half.’

He was about to strike while the iron was hot and drink the other half of the Flame Reagent. But as he reached for it, he suddenly realized his clothes were gone, including his Leather Armor and the Frost Cold Robe...

’Don’t tell me they burned away?’

Lin Mo was stunned. ’If that’s what happened, it’s a huge loss!’

However, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the blue Magic Robe, folded neatly and placed to the side. Next to it was his Leather Armor, also perfectly intact.

’Thank goodness. Both pieces of gear are fine.’

While Lin Mo breathed a sigh of relief, he couldn’t help but feel puzzled. He had been completely immersed in digesting the Flame Reagent’s medicinal power, oblivious to his surroundings. ’When exactly did my gear get taken off?’

He instinctively glanced to the side and soon spotted Shefilya.

Under the circumstances, Lin Mo obviously couldn’t have removed his gear himself. ’Does that mean... Shefilya took them off for me?’

At that thought, Lin Mo’s gaze shot down to his own body, and he quickly and awkwardly tried to cover himself.

Due to the scorching medicinal power, his clothes had been burned completely away, leaving nothing behind.

’Doesn’t that mean she saw everything?’

Lin Mo’s expression was a mixture of emotions, but Shefilya, the other person involved, didn’t seem the least bit awkward. She maintained her usual cool and distant demeanor, her face devoid of any expression.

’Good thing I have a spare set of clothes in my bag for emergencies.’

’But now isn’t the time to get dressed.’

Lin Mo picked up the half-full bottle of Flame Reagent, uncapped it again, and downed the rest in one go.

Then, he cleared his mind, closed his eyes once more, and began to absorb the Flame Reagent’s medicinal power.

With his previous experience, the process was much smoother this time. His body, having already been tempered by the first half of the potion, was clearly much more adapted to the second dose. It took Lin Mo only half the time it took before to completely absorb the Flame Reagent’s medicinal power.

A notification then appeared before his eyes:

"Used Intermediate Flame Reagent. Fire Element Affinity +26%."

Before this, Lin Mo already had a total of 26% Fire Element Affinity. 13% of that came from a Basic Flame Reagent, and the other 13% came from a Flame Magic Stone he had acquired along with a Sodium Bottle Flame Reagent.

After diminishing returns, these two sources combined to give him an actual Fire Element Affinity of 25%.

’So, what about now?’

Lin Mo opened his attribute panel and looked at the Elemental Affinity section.

Fire Element Affinity: 35%

’Just as I thought. The higher the Elemental Affinity gets, the more severe the diminishing returns become.’

’My total affinity from raw sources should now be 26% from the new reagent plus 13% from the Magic Stone, totaling 39%. But the final result is only 35%, so it’s diminished by 4%.’

Then again, a 35% Fire Element Affinity was already quite powerful. The Elemental Affinity attribute not only increased the Casting Speed for the corresponding element but also enhanced Skill Power. For a Mage, both of these were incredibly important.

Opening his eyes, Lin Mo was finally able to change into the spare set of clothes from his bag.

The feeling of being exposed vanished once he was dressed. Lin Mo put on his Leather Armor, draped the blue Mage Robe over himself, and only then looked toward Shefilya, his expression still a little awkward.

"Thank you."

’To be honest, I’m not even sure if I should be thanking her.’

In contrast to his reaction, Shefilya was the more composed of the two. She simply gave Lin Mo a placid glance. "I told you, there’s no need to be so formal with me."
