Chapter 243 - 160: Excellent Level Magic Blizzard
"Hurricane Wolf..."
This was another Intermediate Demon, comparable in bloodline strength to the Crimson Flame Tiger. Such Demons reach at least Level 5 upon reaching adulthood, but this one was clearly no ordinary adult—it was stronger.
Just as Lin Mo had guessed, it was at least Level 6.
Before Lin Mo could even react, Shefilya, who had been trailing behind him, suddenly moved. She shot forward like an arrow, reaching the Hurricane Wolf in the blink of an eye. With a flicker of her body, she effortlessly dodged its attack the very instant it lunged, as if she had predicted its every move.
The next moment, a Flying Knife sank into the side of the Hurricane Wolf’s neck. The creature, so arrogant and seemingly invincible just a moment ago, let out a piteous whine and collapsed, its body going stiff.
’That fast? That simple?’
Although Lin Mo had just asked Shefilya for help, he never expected the fight to be over so easily.
’Even for a Level 7 Assassin, who’d have a one-level advantage over this Hurricane Wolf, it shouldn’t be that easy, should it?’
’Could Shefilya’s true strength actually be Level 8?’
Lin Mo snapped back to his senses and quickly cast a Thunder Strike Skill on the dying Hurricane Wolf. It was a Level 6 Demon; he couldn’t afford to miss out on the Skill Level points.
Thunder Strike Skill, Skill Level +40 (+20)
’Awesome!’
A Level 6 Demon gave a base of 40 Skill Level Points. Since Lin Mo was only Level 4, fighting a monster two Levels higher gave him an additional 50% bonus. In total, this single monster increased his Thunder Strike Skill’s Skill Level by a whopping 60 points.
Shefilya retrieved her Flying Knife, her breathing still even, but Lin Mo could sense the surge of Qi and Blood around her.
The fight had ended quickly, a complete one-shot from Shefilya, but that didn’t mean her strength was so great she could casually kill a Level 6 Demon with a single, ordinary strike.
That seemingly simple strike wasn’t a basic attack. It was a Skill, and most likely an Excellent Level one at that.
When prepared, using a high-burst Skill—much like Lin Mo’s own go-to Combined Technique of Invisibility plus Sword Storing and Continuous Slash—would, at the very least, grievously wound an opponent of similar strength.
But since Shefilya’s strength was significantly higher than the Hurricane Wolf’s, the result was an instant kill.
High burst damage and short fights—these were the defining traits of the Assassin Profession.
If an Assassin couldn’t gain a clear advantage or a decisive outcome within the first few exchanges, it was generally very difficult for them to win.
Demons at Level 6 and above were considered Lord Level Demons. Even though this was just an entry-level, Basic Lord Level Demon, the materials from its body were far more valuable than those from non-Lord Level Demons.
Shefilya harvested the Hurricane Wolf’s teeth, fur, and claws. All of them were valuable materials. The claws were the most precious, as they could be used to craft Excellent Level equipment, but the other materials would also fetch a good price.
Lin Mo stored the materials in his backpack. Now, it was time for the main event.
There was no need to search. A gold Treasure Chest, its edges traced with faint purple markings, sat right in the center of the room.
Lin Mo walked up to the Treasure Chest and took a deep breath. With his gaze fixed, he opened it.
Inside the Treasure Chest lay a brilliantly shimmering Scroll.
This Skill Scroll was clearly different from others Lin Mo had seen before. It looked as though it had been highlighted and dusted with glitter.
Lin Mo glanced at Shefilya beside him. The Maid was silent; it was obviously her first time seeing something like this as well.
Lin Mo carefully picked up the Scroll and slowly unfurled it.
The Scroll was completely blank.
The next moment, a surge of Spiritual Thought flooded his mind.
"This is..."
Lin Mo’s eyes widened in astonishment. The information appearing in his mind was incredibly complex—it was all about Space Magic.
It explained the principles of Space Magic to Lin Mo in great detail.
Space Magic, in essence, was the act of using high-frequency fluctuations of Magic Power to resonate with the flow of space itself, thereby acquiring trace amounts of the diffuse Power of Space.
By doing so, Magic Power could be imbued with the properties of "space," allowing it to merge with space and, through subtle "pushes" of Magic Power, interfere with its flow.
This, then, was the essence of "Space Magic."
It shared some common ground with ordinary Magic, but there were also significant differences. In essence, it was a completely separate system.
Conventional Elemental Magic involved resonating with a corresponding Element to utilize and gather it, thereby casting Magic.
Space Magic, on the other hand, was more like a deeper form of communication and interference between Magic Power and "matter" itself.
It was using one’s own power as a lever to pry at the rules, changing the established laws of the world on a minuscule scale!
So, while it was called Space "Magic," this ability to influence and alter space was, in fact, an entirely new system, almost completely independent of Magic.
Therefore, casting Space Magic didn’t involve a traditional Magic Circuit, where Magic Power flowed along a predetermined route. Instead, it was a kind of improvised fine control over one’s Magic Power. Depending on the situation, the process for casting Space Magic could be vastly different each time.
