Chapter 225 - 153: Free Eggs with Healing?

It wasn’t necessarily that much better than a typical home-style eatery, but it was certainly unique and distinctive. Coupled with the high quality of the ingredients, the overall dining experience was quite good.

After eating and drinking his fill, he returned to the inn. Lin Mo, having finished a day of practice, wasn’t ready to rest just yet.

’Next, there’s still one more Skill I need to practice...’

The next morning, Lin Mo woke up and looked at his Skill Level panel.

[Cultivator Companion] Lv3 (29/40)

He was close to reaching Level 4.

Once Cultivator Companion reached Level 4, its effect would likely be a bit more pronounced than at Level 3.

’But more than the improved effect, Lin Mo was actually more curious about whether this Skill could evolve like other Skills. If so, what would it evolve into, and what extra effects would it have?’

He got up and did some Meditation, once again gaining a point of Skill Level for [Basic Meditation Skill].

This Skill was also about to reach Level 2.

’Today will be the same. I’ll head to the City Lord’s Mansion and ask Shefilya to help me train...’

----------

Life in the city was much more relaxed and comfortable than in the wild, so the days seemed to fly by. Before he knew it, another two days had passed.

On the morning of the third day, Lin Mo went out as usual, but instead of heading to the City Lord’s Mansion again, he went to the Adventurer’s Commercial Street and arrived at Chacher’s Alchemy Cottage.

At the familiar chime of the wind bell, Chacher glanced up before comfortably lying back down again.

"Next time, remember to bring Little Feney with you..."

Lin Mo gave a helpless shrug. "We’re just teammates. Please don’t make things difficult for me. Feney has her own things to do; how could she possibly waste time just to accompany me to pick something up?"

"Is that so? I wouldn’t be so sure..."

Chacher smiled and said no more, pointing to a small, exquisite box on the counter. "Your item."

Lin Mo opened the box. Inside was a perfectly round and smooth sphere, about the size of a Magic Stone, and exquisitely crafted.

’As expected of an Alchemist approaching the Extraordinary realm. She’s truly reliable.’

’But why would a figure of her caliber be staying in Silver Stream City?’

’Logically, a master with such superb skills should be in the Royal Capital, or at least in one of the Kingdom’s major cities. Coming to a remote little place like Silver Stream City is a real waste of her talent.’

Lin Mo eagerly inlaid the pearl, which had been carved from the Core Bone of a Frost Ice Corpse, into the socket reserved on his Secret Silver Gloves. He then opened his panel.

Now, on his attribute panel, beneath his Flame, Lightning, and Earth Element Affinities, there was a new addition: Ice Element Affinity.

Ice Element Affinity: 16%

As expected, the effect of this "artificial" Magic Stone crafted from the Core Bone was significantly stronger than the one he had previously obtained in the Secret Realm.

If he had crafted one from the Core Bone of a Flaming Corpse, the affinity would have been around 13.5%, only 0.5% stronger than his previous Magic Stone, which wouldn’t have been worth replacing.

Today, Lin Mo didn’t plan on finding Shefilya to train with him again.

The high-intensity training sessions over the past few days had been very effective, and that was enough for now. Besides, he had to let Shefilya get some rest.

But not training didn’t mean he planned to be idle. He headed straight for the Church.

Along the way, he reviewed his gains from the past two days.

First was the [Resilience] Skill. As expected, it had smoothly reached Level 5, and he had even accumulated a good amount of Skill Level beyond that.

[Resilience] Lv5 (53/180): Enhances your own defense, reducing the next three instances of physical damage taken by 26%.

At Level 5, Resilience’s damage reduction had reached 26%, which was quite an impressive amount.

Next was [Lightness]. Through continuous combat, this Skill’s Skill Level had also increased rapidly, leading to another successful level-up.

[Lightness] Lv4 (2/100): Consumes a small amount of Qi and Blood. You will gain a lighter step, Movement Speed +6.5%!

Functional Skills like this were actually quite useful, but having to activate it himself in every battle was, to be honest, a bit of a hassle.

’If only it could become a Passive Skill...’

Finally, there was the Healing Technique.

He had been taking a beating for the past few days and had used the Healing Technique many times, raising it to Level 3.

"Skill [Healing Technique] Lv2 (20/20) has leveled up!"

"Current Skill: [Healing Technique] Lv3 (28/40)"

Not only had it reached Level 3, but it was also well on its way to Level 4. This showed just how much of a beating Lin Mo had taken over the past few days.

’From that perspective, perhaps Shefilya felt she got a good deal out of it too. At least she had fun hitting him...’

Arriving at the Church, just as he expected, Feney was still with the other Priests, Healing the common folk and Adventurers who came seeking aid.

Of course, the Church wasn’t a charity; these Healings came at a cost. However, because there were so many Priests here, the price was actually cheaper than in Roland Town—only 5 Silver Coins. While still expensive for commoners, the situation in Silver Stream City was different from Roland Town. A commoner in Silver Stream City could earn a basic wage of 10-15 copper coins a day, with some making as much as 20 or even 25. Furthermore, the Church offered about a fifty-percent discount to commoners. If they encountered a troublesome illness or injury, they could afford a visit if they gritted their teeth and paid up.

Lin Mo had come today to join in on the action.

Mainly, there wasn’t much else to do, and coming here would let him grind Skill Level for his Healing Technique. It was better than wandering around aimlessly with nothing to do.

"Mr. Lin Mo? Is there something I can help you with?"

Feney’s face lit up when she saw Lin Mo, but she then asked with a puzzled expression.

"I was wondering, if someone isn’t a Nun or a Priest of the Church, can they still help with the Healing here?"

"Of course!"

Feney nodded. "The Church welcomes any helpful Priest."

"Then I’ll give it a try."

As he spoke, Lin Mo walked over to an empty station and suddenly pulled out a sign.

A line of text was written on it: "Healing comes with a bonus of ten loaves of white bread or five eggs."

Immediately after, a few merchants came in carrying large sacks and carefully placed the bundles next to him.

"Sir, your goods have arrived. Please inspect them..."

"Mm."

Lin Mo opened them for a look, nodded, and paid promptly.

This whole display immediately attracted a lot of attention, and people then noticed the sign he had put up.

"Healing with free bread or eggs... What’s this all about?"

"Seems kind of interesting!"

"There won’t be any problems, will there?"

"It’s just bread and eggs. I recognize that merchant from earlier; I buy stuff from him all the time. What could be wrong with them?"

"I was talking about the guy’s skill level..."

"Er, well, that’s hard to say."

The crowd murmured among themselves, but for a while, no one actually came forward for Healing.

"Aaargh—! A Priest, I need a Priest!"

Just then, a voice suddenly cried out from outside the church. The crowd turned toward the sound and saw a man whose clothes were soaked in a red liquid. Most of his face was also covered in blood as he was being supported by two companions.

Feney froze. ’Isn’t that Mr. Solan...? Is he injured?’

’No, something doesn’t seem right...’

’And the two supporting him... are those Mr. Rick and Mr. Carson?’

She stared blankly as the three of them made their way over to Lin Mo. "Lin— *cough*— Mr. Priest, please save my teammate!"

"No problem."

Lin Mo nodded and immediately cast a Healing Technique, throwing in a complimentary "Clear Stream Technique" as well.

At once, Solan, who had been wailing and howling just a moment ago, dropped the act. The blood that had just been splashed on him was also washed clean by the "Clear Stream Technique."

"Thank you, Mr. Priest, thank you!"

What followed was a ’tearful’ performance of gratitude, after which the three jokers took the five eggs Lin Mo gave them and left.

’You can do that?’

Feney was completely dumbfounded.

Meanwhile, the surrounding onlookers were astonished. Many who didn’t know better clicked their tongues in amazement. "This young Priest seems to have some real skill! Not only are the injuries healed, but he even washed away all the bloodstains in an instant!"

"And his Healing comes with free bread or eggs..."

"Grandson, be good. Come with Grandpa to get healed over there..."

And so, gradually, a few elderly people began to gather, bringing their children and grandchildren with them.

Lin Mo cast Healing Technique on them one by one. If one cast wasn’t enough to heal them, he’d throw in another one for free, along with a complimentary "Clear Stream Technique." Finally, he’d give them a few loaves of bread or some eggs.

After a few waves of patients were healed, the crowd flocking to him grew larger and larger.

Lin Mo was grinning from ear to ear.

’Before coming here, he had actually thought it through carefully. As a newcomer whom no one recognized, and a very young one at that, he knew people wouldn’t necessarily seek him out for Healing if he just showed up.’

’So, he devised a little trick, a small marketing tactic.’

’Now he could really grind his Skill Level to his heart’s content...’
