Chapter 226 - 154: Level 4 Healing Technique, The Plundered Maidens
As time passed, nearly half of all the wounded in the church had gathered around Lin Mo, leaving the other Priests completely stunned.
’You can do that?’
The few Priests on duty were sweating bullets. They quickly sent someone to find the Bishop and explain the situation.
"Bishop Fletcher..."
Fletcher set down the documents in his hand and looked up at the Priest before him.
"What’s happening outside?"
He could vaguely hear some commotion from inside.
"It’s like this, Bishop—"
The Priest quickly explained the whole situation. Bishop Fletcher’s expression turned to one of resigned helplessness. "That young man, honestly..."
He then waved his hand. "Just let him be. It’s not like he’ll be here often. An occasional incident like this won’t have much of an impact."
It might affect the income of the Church and the other Priests, but the Church wasn’t short on money. Besides, being a Priest was a well-paying Profession, so they weren’t desperate for this bit of revenue either.
’His idea, on the other hand, is worth considering. It might actually attract more people to the Church for Healing.’
Of course, this tolerance was a product of Lin Mo’s talent and connections. Otherwise, even if the Church chose not to punish him, they certainly wouldn’t let him continue his antics. They would have most likely just kicked him out.
After watching the Priest leave, Fletcher’s gaze returned to the documents in his hands, his brow furrowed in thought.
’I’ll have to discuss this matter further with the Lord and Chairman Vick...’

...
Just as Bishop Fletcher had predicted, the other Priests in the Church didn’t raise any major objections to Lin Mo after their initial surprise. For the most part, they just adopted a wait-and-see attitude, content to watch the show from the sidelines.
After all, they weren’t desperate for the Healing fees. Besides, a person’s Magic Power is finite. The Healing Technique was a high-consumption Magic spell to begin with. Most of them could only cast it four or five times, and only a Professional Level Priest could manage about ten.
To put it bluntly, even if they had more patients, they wouldn’t be able to heal them without the Magic Power to do so.
But as they continued to watch, they started to grow restless.
"Is that the twentieth one already?"
"He’s already passed thirty..."
"Gods, how much Magic Power does this guy have?"
"You can tell just by the effect of his Healing Technique... It’s clear he’s not very proficient with it, but the results are so powerful. That just proves how high his Magic Power is."
"But if his Skill Level with the Healing Technique is low, how can his Magic Power be so high?"
a few Priest apprentices asked, confused.
"Is it possible he’s not actually a Priest, but a Mage?"
It was the only logical explanation. After all, if he were a real Priest, there’s no way he’d be so clumsy with the most basic Healing Technique.
Then, someone with a sharp eye spotted the crucial detail. "Hey, look at his chest! If I’m not mistaken, isn’t that a Bronze Level Adventurer’s Identity Card?"
"Holy crap, it is!"
"..."
The Priests fell into an eerie silence once more.
A Bronze Level Adventurer! Even in Silver Stream City, that made him a somebody.
A Bronze Level Adventurer that young, who was clearly a Mage but had learned Priest Skills... It sounded like something straight out of a Minstrel’s tale.
"Maybe in a few years, we’ll be sipping tea and hear a Minstrel singing the story of what happened here today."
Over an hour later, a dizzy and light-headed Lin Mo finally stopped his Healing and took down his sign.
"That’s all for today, that’s all... Come back next time."
"Next time? When will that be?"
A wounded man who hadn’t managed to claim his egg asked wistfully.
Lin Mo smiled and replied with just four words: "We’ll meet if fated."
His stint as a guest Priest at the Church had just been a whim, after all. He wasn’t sure if he would ever come back, and even if he did, it would likely be a long time from now.
As Lin Mo packed up his things, he handed out the leftover eggs and bread to the other Priests in the Church.
"Sorry about stealing all your business."
"No, no, it’s fine..."
"Whatever makes you happy."
"We should be thanking *you* for the help. With so many wounded, we never would have been able to treat them all without you."
The Priests accepted the items. They weren’t worth much, but the gesture still improved their mood considerably.
Of course, the main reason for their polite demeanor was the badge on Lin Mo’s chest and the Secret Silver Gloves he wore.
One look told them he was a big shot they couldn’t possibly afford to offend.
Lin Mo exchanged a few more pleasantries with them, then gave Feney a wink and left the Church.
On the way back to the inn, Lin Mo took stock of his recent earnings.
In total, his Healing Technique Skill Level had increased by...
points!
The same went for his Clear Stream Technique.
"Skill [Healing Technique] Level 3 (40/40) has been upgraded!"
"Current Skill: [Healing Technique] Level 4 (51/100)"
In one go, his Healing Technique had not only jumped directly to Level 4, but was now less than halfway to the Full Level of 5.
However, as his Healing Technique leveled up, Lin Mo could clearly feel that the Skill Level he gained from treating less severe injuries was starting to diminish.
Moreover, Healing Adventurers was clearly more difficult than Healing civilians, and the efficiency of Skill Level gain was correspondingly higher.
He could predict that once this skill evolved, coming back here to the Church and treating Ordinary people would provide very limited gains.
’Maybe I could open a clinic? Or set up a stall? I could specialize in treating Adventurers with injuries that the average Priest at the Church struggles with. That way, I could charge a higher fee. It wouldn’t just be for kicks anymore—I could actually make some real money.’
