Adventure: My Skills Evolve Infinitely

After observing for a moment and waiting for the main group to arrive, Lin Mo and Sid fell back to the others to briefly discuss their strategy.

The massive cave ahead had numerous exits.

"The most reliable way to deal with the Flame Cat Demon is to have an Assassin take care of it..."

The Flame Cat Demon was, after all, a Demon with a Threat Level of 2 or higher—quite possibly even Level 2.5. Its main Attribute was Agility, making it incredibly fast. If they launched a frontal assault and it sensed danger, it would be determined to escape. Since they didn’t know the cave’s layout, there was a very real chance it could get away.

If this had been a normal mission for the Cyan Orchid Squad, Landon might have been worried.

Although Sid was a Level 3 Assassin, his opponent was a Cat Demon with a Threat Level of 2.5. The odds of success were certainly high, but they weren’t a guaranteed one hundred percent.

Most importantly, if he failed and was swarmed by Cat Demons inside the cave, Sid, being a squishy Profession, could find himself in real danger.

But now...

They had a guy on their team who simply defied all logic.

’A Warrior who uses an Assassin’s Skills and ambushes you with Magic. Tell me, aren’t you terrified?’

"Then we’ll leave it to you two this time."

After Landon spoke, Lin Mo and Sid exchanged a look, nodded to each other, and headed straight for the Cat Demon’s cave.

Meanwhile, Landon led the rest of the squad members forward cautiously, ready to provide support and launch the main assault at a moment’s notice.

Lin Mo and Sid made their way to a spot a little over ten meters from the cave entrance. Any farther, and they would be out of cover.

Furthermore, the Cat Demons’ keen Perception would soon allow them to sense that something was amiss. It was time to make their move.

Lin Mo activated [Invisibility], and Sid, at his side, used his own methods as well. The two of them quickly entered the cave, slipped past the Cat Demons near the entrance, and headed directly for its depths.

Finding the Flame Cat Demon was not going to be simple.

The space inside the cave was larger than it appeared from the outside. The paths were extremely complex, with many branching forks.

Fortunately, the complex terrain also provided them with plenty of hiding spots, so they wouldn’t be discovered immediately after the effects of their stealth Skills wore off.

Along the way, Lin Mo took a moment to observe the Cat Demon colony.

The number of Cat Demons seemed much larger than he had expected. A rough count of just the ones in his immediate sight already exceeded one hundred.

’A Cat Demon colony of this size is a rare sight...’

Furthermore, the number of Cursed Cat Demons among them was quite substantial, including both sub-adults and adults. Lin Mo even spotted one whose curse marks were exceptionally deep. It was most likely a tier higher than an ordinary Cursed Cat Demon. He seemed to recall seeing it in a bestiary and vaguely remembered it was called a ’Dark Curse Cat Demon?’

Its Threat Level was likely above 1.5, but not quite Level 2.

This made Lin Mo question the intelligence they had received for the mission.

’A colony of this size doesn’t seem like the type to have only a single Level 2.5 leader.’

’Regardless, it’s best to be cautious.’

’It’s never wrong to be careful.’

Lin Mo shot Sid a look. Understanding at once, Sid nodded. The two activated their skills again and concealed themselves.

As they ventured deeper into the cave, Lin Mo could faintly sense a trace of the Fire Element. It seemed the Flame Cat Demon was not far off.

Finally, upon activating [Invisibility] for the fourth time to continue his search, he discovered a Cat Demon sprawled on a grass mat, sleeping soundly.

The Cat Demon before him was a solid, fiery red, looking quite different from its ordinary kin.

Lin Mo quieted his breathing and focused, his Black Sword already in hand.

In the past, when dealing with stronger Demons like this, he would have used his old standby Skill, [Sword Storing and Continuous Slash]. But now, having acquired seven New Skills at once back at the City Lord’s Mansion, he had new options.

’Come to think of it, he had never actually used it since acquiring it.’

Lin Mo gripped his sword hilt, his Qi and Blood circulating rapidly.

He immediately discovered that this Skill’s Qi and Blood Circulation was far faster than that of [Sword Charge Strike] at the same Level, so much so that he felt he was about to lose control.

The Qi and Blood pulsed beneath his skin, making his entire body flush red. If his Constitution weren’t strong enough, the blood vessels in weaker areas might have already begun to rupture slightly. It was no wonder the Skill was described as having a "self-damage" effect.

At this level, however, the effect wasn’t significant.

Even for an ordinary Warrior, it would be just as the Skill description stated: "trace" amounts of damage. As for Lin Mo...

His Constitution was high and his blood vessels were tough enough that they wouldn’t break at all. It was practically zero damage.

’So, just how powerful is this Skill?’

Full of anticipation, Lin Mo unleashed the attack!

[Blood Qi Blade]!

A scarlet slash of Sword Qi shot out. It was incredibly fast, even quicker than [Sword Charge Strike]. The Blood-colored Air Blade tore across the sleeping Cat Demon’s body in an instant.

The Cat Demon had only just sensed the approaching danger and hadn’t even had time to open its eyes before its body was sliced in two!

’Not bad, not bad at all...’

Compared to [Sword Charge Strike], this Technique was clearly better suited for piercing strong defenses. Although its total power might not match a fully charged [Sword Charge Strike], there’s a world of difference between dispersed power and power focused on a single point.

When it came to single-target damage, [Blood Qi Blade] was undoubtedly far superior.

Though its body had been severed, the Flame Cat Demon didn’t die instantly. Just as it was about to let out a shriek, Lin Mo pierced its throat.
